While the intro is loading, there is some Russian text at the bottom of the screen. I couldn’t read it, and was confused: Was it trying to tell me about a technical difficulty? Did I forget to select English text?

There are some reasons behind this. Depending on the chosen companion you can receive story bits after combat.

I understand, but it could be story bits given in a different screen than the combat’s screen. Like even just a black screen where they talk.
The talk bit does not have to be in the combat minigame screen.

So first and foremost I just have to commend you for making this game and being so receptive to leaning into this niche fetish content. The new content you have created - the sprites, the art, the dialogue - is all top notch and I think the air of excitement around this project is very real.

I am quite interested to see where things go from here and have some suggestions myself, but again, it needs to be said that what has already been done is very well done:

  1. More dialogue variety/randomness. I really like how many different dialogue avenues there are between the texts, the conversations and the dates. However, as of right now it feels a bit linear. I think having a few different lines for repeated activities is always a plus. For instance, when gifting food Galina might have more than one possible line of dialogue per weight stage.

  2. When inspecting Galina it might be nice to offer the player some choices beyond the “Tease her” option. What I mean here is - especially as she gains weight - it might be nice to expand your options. Things like “Tease her about her weight,” “Tease her about how much food she has eaten,” “Play with her belly.” These sorts of small choices are always nice in these games and open up more dialogue possibilities as well.

  3. More reactions to character weight. I think I would just like to see more of other characters commenting on Galina’s weight changes, simple as that.

  4. More branching dialogue paths/outcomes. I think Galina asking the player if he is intentionally trying to fatten her up is an interesting choice, and it would be interesting if how the player answers this question has sort of a permanent attitude change for Galina. This essentially would create two different “runs” of the game, one where say Galina is happier to gain and another where she is more in denial of her weight for example. Having multiple outcomes for these sorts of events can again, create more dialogue and interaction and helps with game replayability.

Ultimately these are all just suggestions I have, mostly lifted from other games we see. I’m sure you and your team already have plans and again, everything already made is very impressive. Looking forward to see what things will look like as more content is added!

If you want to unlock Ekaterina’s story you’ll have to Spend time with instructor Igor. He only appears on some days. Then you’ll get some information and should talk to Milana about it, and make the correct choice, just don’t kill her.
She will still be around and her ending won’t change (I guess its a bug, or feature that is not implemented yet). Then Ekaterina should appear on the map around day 25, she does not have a time spent per day limit and you can also add her to your roster, but there is just a few dialogues with her. Don’t ever miss instructor appearances, otherwise you will lock yourself out of this

Are other endings for Galina planned? I think my only major issue with the story as it currently stands is that whether I succeed as a revolutionary or as a loyalist, she personally gets a bad outcome.

Are there any better ways for earning money than doing contracts from smartphone menu? I don’t mind having tough fights, but to be honest i barely get enough money to feed Galina

Now that’s something uncalled for. I don’t think it is a good idea to bring up politics in a thread like this, and, frankly, a bit rude to compare me to a victim of North Korean regime. I understand having discussions like this somewhere on X, but in a thread dedicated to the game it’s basically sending a PM to the author, except its also public.

Honestly, I’ve been thinking of this message for the whole day raking my brains about how I should approach this conversation. You are not making it easier by being vague about the aspects which you claim to be my vision. I know what I’ve included in the story, and I find it hard to understand if you see me as a liberal willing to destroy their country for the world or an emperialist willing to destroy the world for their country. But, judging by your comparison to NK and “stereotypical Russian mentality”, it’s probably the latter.

I am not an amateur writer and I am capable of hiding my true intentions, creating red herrings and writing realistic gray scenarios. The “goodness” and “badness” of endings depends on Kirill being a decent human being, not his political affiliations. Lera can survive only with involvement of the player. Galina may have a happy life only with involvement of the player. Milana will not get brutally tortured for hundreds of years only with involvement of the player. The same goes for Boris and Georgy, and only Evgeny’s fate lies out of direct control of the player

There are hundreds of endings, some of them sad, some of them happy. But the happy ones are not easy to get. Because life is hard. People die in war. Tough times destroy weak souls. The world is unfair, and is much stronger than a single person. What you see in the epilogue of the game is the cruel reality. I have seen it all, and there is only one hard truth: you are not saving anyone in real life. This is the luxury of fiction.

I am a little confused about all that stuff with steam version. Does Steam version have WG content or do I need to install patch? Will all future patches be free? And are you the original developer? Can i buy Steam version instead of Patreon to get future updates?

I wouldnt pay too much mind to him. He has a shallow worldview. I found the game to be very Russian and that was a good thing. Maybe its because I grew up with Dostoevsky and Nabakov. But the game captures that Russian spirit of perseverance in hard times and the warmth and humor in a cold world. Its just in a situation that Americans couldn’t comprehend. In the dark world of war and political violence, it makes connections with others even more impactful and meaningful. Thats why the birthday party and dates hit my heart more.

I didnt find either ending to be good or bad either. I thought that was well written as each character has different endings based on the story ending, showing the complexity of it. And that no matter what, each person will be affected differently as each character is very unique.

I think this comment from morybar focuses too much on the setting and completely ignores the personalization of each character in the story. The hardships of no money, political drama, and finding your place in the world. You have a choice to go with the flow or choose your own path. Not everyone will be happy with it either. The bittersweet nature is what drives us.

We are planning on making a directors cut that will address all the weak points of the game while adding more content (new characters, new mini-games, new conversations, even new story lines). I hope this community will try it out as it is now much bigger than the base following of the game.

I am under the assumption this is the fault on behalf of the engine or node webkit. This is probably in 1% of the most ambitious projects ever built on Construct 3 so I guess it makes sense there are some troubles with accessability. But there is another Windows export function which seems to be more stable, and the only reason we are not using it is… Well, it can not read cyrillic symbols, and most of the voiceover files are named in cyrillic. And there are literally thousands of them, and I am not aware of an easy way of renaming all of them without hours of manual labor. But I guess we need to look into it for the guys who are not able to launch the game at all.

update: I tried exporting through another function and everything works now (must be the new updates), so, I guess… The game is fixed?

Well, it is quite fast when you spec into skills+equipment, not fattening up Galina to immobility. Classics are known for finishing the enemy in several turns for example.

This is a neat idea, but sadly much harder to implement than you think. There is a lot of code that follows the victory screen and transfering it to base game may and will create a lof of unexpected errors, and don’t get me started on it taking a lot of time. But we actually can skip the battle preparation screen which has no valuable code, so your wish will be granted in some capacity. This will no longer feel like a chore.

Sigh That’s not an easy option either. This is not Renpy with a brebuilt function of skipping the already seen scenes, so I will have to build it from scratch. This is not an impossible task, but certainly something that will take a lot of time and testing.

Thank you for your help. I actually planned on asking for translation advice. Currently I am in charge of the translation to English so I will be making less mistakes than our previous translator, but the previous ones may elude me as I am too used to them, especially if they are that minor. I also want to add that some of the mistakes you’ve noticed are not mistakes but actual words or slang. For example, bug-a-boo is a real word, Leshiy and the Saint Seven are local gods and “when me done my job” is a dialect.

There will also be a tired and flushed Lera if you keep on bringing her as a companion to battles after making her triple in weight.

I am not averse to that idea, but you have to understand it’s a feature that will double/triple/quadruple the emount of effort required for the new patches. Making several more lines for eating gifts is fine, sure, but making a whole other path of fatteting Galina up? That’s going to be a lot of extra content. We will look into this, but I don’t think this will happen in the foreseeable future. But don’t worry, the amount of content will still be quite big.

Finishing the quest of Boris will give you some passive income every day. After day 12 Georgy will pay you 300 rubles daily. By speaking to him after day 12 you can take part in a mini game where you kill serfs for money.

Steam has a little WG content but less than in this patch. You don’t need to install the patch, it is standalone. No, the future patches won’t be free, but we will make free updates once in a while. Yes, I am the original developer. No, buying the current Steam version will not give you access to new updates, but maybe we can work something out in the future.
