Would be nice if you gave us option to decrease cooldown between attacks of archers and swordsmen. Currently you can’t kill two strong enemies in row without receiving any damage, if you don’t attack manually. Even when i had 8 swordsmen and 7 archers - they are not attacking fast enough to kill two bigger slimes in a row. Archers can deal enough dmg to onehit someone, but then they won’t be “ready” for next attack before second enemy strikes you. Swordsmen simply don’t help much, due to how they work.

I suppose if you can one-shot things with mercs alone then yeah, not losing HP makes sense. I think a better solution might be to introduce a slight delay to enemy spawns (like a fraction of a second) and then balance merc timings around that so only incredibly fast enemies could potentially get a hit in when your mercs are that strong. That would make fast enemies managing to sneak damage in stand out rather than the norm.

Okay, I think I’m cookin’ here. So I’m adjusting the speed → attack cooldown to be less linear, with the idea that the player will see noticable changes to attack cooldown early on and then it takes more points for both players and enemies to reduce their attack cooldown further. Then we add an extra delay on spawn for enemies if you’re near or above their speed level. This means speed is still a valuable stat if you play completely idle. I also might reduce archer cooldown as it’s fairly high and it takes a while (at least in the current game) to get enough gold to get them pumped anyway.
