I am assuming you don’t have a drawing tablet?
I am not a fetish artist, this would become the first time.
no I do not, I draw on Adobe Illustrater with a mouse.
You’re definitely going to need to work with an artist then unless you want to spend $50 on a drawing tablet (I recommend the HUION H1060P, cheap and works great) and learn a whole lot of anatomy. Near impossible to do this sort of thing with a mouse (I’ve tried).
(sigh) that’s what I figured. Who would you suggest?
More than enough experience for a little demo. You going to help him make one?
Only artist I’ve got contact with is busy working on another project I’m also part of. I draw sometimes (see PFP) but I don’t really draw for others.
Reach out to some artists you like, especially smaller ones. Worst they can do is turn you down. Make sure you give a good well thought out pitch. You’re going to have to monetize the game if you go down this path, though. Very few artists are willing to just volunteer. You at least need to give them a cut of the pay. Don’t comm all the art since you’ll end up bankrupt really fast, might as well buy that drawing tablet and learn yourself at that point.
If you said that to anyone with experience in this, they would immediately turn you down. I’m just going to assume you don’t have any meaningful experience if you won’t say anything because that comes off as incredibly shady to most people. Experience is something that most people show off like a trophy whenever they can so it’s generally a massive red flag if someone is obviously hiding it like that when I ask them for project history and years of experience.
Not trying to be mean, that’s just a huge mistake whenever applying to anything. It comes off as really blatant lying. Someone could say they have “zero experience but are willing to learn” and I would at least give them a chance but not that.
You have been negative from the start You said his project would never happen. At least free coding was offered.
Yeah I have tried to avoid favoriting anyone to avoid my usual audience from thinking I’m a freak for liking this stuff, and trying to find that one rare needle within a haystack of popular creators is gonna be tough. So until then I’m just gonna continue doing what I can do (that being drawing the stuff I know I CAN draw) and try to adopt this “fat art” into my own style…if I can that is.
The least we can do is try. But even I doubt my own abilities to satisfy that urge.
But the real question is do you want to work with the artsyle presented above?
It can work. There are weight gain games with basic style like that.
I am negative for valid reasons. I specifically said this wouldn’t get done if they didn’t do it themself. That is a fact. There is near zero chance someone will just pick up this idea and carry it out on their own.
I wanted to give this a chance. Do you understand what would’ve happened otherwise? It would just be sitting here without anyone attempting it. Now we’re at a phase where things may end up getting done, and even if that didn’t happen, at least they would understand why no one was showing up to make the game for them.
I’ve got 10 years experience in this. I doubt you’ve released a single game. You really aren’t in a position to be criticizing me on game development here.
Which games have you released? How is the 3D game going? Been excited about playing it.
I’ll do some programming, UI design, etc if you want. Could use a little bonus side project just for fun since this is really simple so far. You really should learn programming eventually, though. It’s a very important core skill and losing a programmer could really break down a project if you don’t understand it too well yourself.
Nice! I am excited to play your 3D game too. Will be great to play both these projects in the future.
I made it under a different name back then so I won’t name it (my earliest games were quite embarrassing) but my most popular game was a small 3D multiplayer building game. It was quite fun. Had a small community around it for a while. We would make up characters and lore and eventually made a big island with a bunch of different areas like the plains (where most people built their houses), a cherry blossom place with a big shrine, a desert (though nothing was really built here because that was towards the end), a massive volcano, and a big nest full of spiders.
That was 3 years ago. Servers shut off after about a year. Just lost popularity eventually and I wasn’t monetizing the game so it was just running off my personal funds. Definitely one of the biggest reasons I’m currently making another 3D multiplayer game that involves building.
It’s also worth noting multiplayer is hell as any real programmer knows. The fact that I’ve even completed a game like that on my own as a solo developer should be more than enough proof that I’m very experienced.
Faehna’s doing fine. Working on a little side project as well for a little break from the hell that is programming Faehna but I’m still making pretty significant progress, just took a break from posting because I’m not quite a social person and writing all those posts really tires me out and causes quite a bit of burnout.
Only if you want to, don’t want to force anyone’s hand here. You could help Bobby in the areas he’s unfamiliar with. I’ll give ya any art you’ll need for this…small project.
I would like to include at least the 1st 2 human girls. For variety and just because I want to (so I got plenty of drawing to do). When it comes to the basic pause menu, I would like to see if we can include the full images of the characters so you can see what size they’re at, that’s a personal preference I would like to include if possible. When it comes to gameplay, I was just thinking we keep it simple with the basic rpg rules, though with overworld traps designed around plumping you up until you can’t move, I wanted that balancing act where you are trying to not get too big or else they will be knocked out. And about HP, let’s link that to your weight. We could also add bonuses to the weight system if you want to.
And other than that…I think that’s all I would like to see if possible.
How much of the world map do ya’ll want to do? The locations I had confirmed in my mind are the prison, the lobby, the kitchen, the casino, & the factory (placed in that exact order in-game).
I don’t really think you want someone without any history of game development working on your game. They’re acting way too sketchy as well, dodging both the history and years experience questions.
A good and clean codebase is very important. When I was first starting out, I often had to restart entire games from the beginning because the code wasn’t quite flexible or well made. The only direction you’re going to go is backwards with someone who doesn’t understand what they’re doing.
It sounds like you are the expert here so the project is yours.
Yes, you only want 1 person coding on your game or issues can come up like AimilsFat said. The coding levels may be different for example or the thinking of how to code certain things could be different. It is much different than having different artists help you draw things for your game. The thinking and coding have to be on the same page and the 2 coders would have to really know each other’s way of coding very well.
