I’m sorry you didn’t care for it. If you’d like to skip the gameplay, I put in a cheat code for people who might feel that way. Press the f,a, and t keys together after starting and you’ll instantly succeed.
I was a kinda harsh. After the beginning the rhythms were fun, maybe not so long of an intro or at least not so long of a VERY easy intro. I’d give it like a 4 out of 5 for the later half. I do music, so the simple rhythms at the beginning were torture. XD Good Job Overall
Loved this game!!! The gameplay feels like playing and the later levels really challenged me.
Also, Client is the cutest girl ever!
Difficulty curve was there, but jeez did the “game” draw out. It was definitely blurred the lines on whether or not it was a game, but I believe that was the point so, good work on that. If you want people to really enjoy the game, just cut each day in half or something
Thank you all for the feedback!
I appreciate the time you all have taken to play the game and happy to see how many of you have finished. The atmosphere we were trying to convey for the first seven days was the feeling of a dead-end, albeit humorous, soulless office job. This was intended to align the game with the theme by setting up for the twist, and to give room for personal growth for the protagonist as she developed a relationship with the client. I do understand how this may not be fun for many however, and in response to your feedback I have added an option for “short days”. This lowers the shifts from 60 seconds to 30 seconds. You can find this setting in the options menu.
I’ve uploaded the new version with this change to the itch.io page.
Side note: When uploading the new version I bungled it a bit and the Windows game jam version was briefly deleted, but quickly restored. However, as a result, the Game Jam Windows version will have an incorrect timestamp for its upload. I have already cleared this with the admins, so there’s no issue there.
THREE ARROWS!? My my, how subversive! — It was a little mind bending towards the end but I somehow managed to only fail twice. Honestly, it’s an adorable game, I just wish the purchasable items had a bit more to them (though I thoroughly enjoyed the baseball hahaha~) Cute art, funny story and references, just wish there were a few more stages of fatness to enjoy from more angles, still great work!
The ticking of the clock and the music really bring across the depressive setting. I like the art so far and hope the animations will be finished in the future. Gameplay wise I’d like the actual work to start after the fade-in is completed. That really threw me off guard the first couple days and when you get the first time two or three buttons at the start.
Also maybe a next button for the gallery and that the game doesn’t restart once you press on back.
I hope you actually make a phase 2 sometime and have our subversive Manager take over the planet like she says.
Another Day In Paradise (Game Jam Release) - Windows Version:
Good point
-“Subversive” and Super atmosphere. It made me think of a “Paper Please” at one point.
-The animations are really good.
-Art without color or depth but the style works very well.
It gives the impression that the protagonist lives in a world without fantasy.
-The story telling is minimalist but it is well managed.
-Music that truly connects with the world
-Interesting humor
-Interesting difficulty and the passage dear the BOSS motivates you not to fail a second time. lol
-The baseball is the best object in the game. (sorry cat).
-NOOO MI BALLL. I paid for this.
Point to review in my opinion:
-It would have been preferable if the indication was closer to the sheet.
I find it a bit frustrating to have to keep your eyes to the left of the screen
while we would prefer to see what they did. But maybe that’s the desired goal
in order to give the impression that the player is just following orders without thinking too much about his actions. In view of the configuration of the office at the end I understand that the desk is not in the middle of the office but it is still disturbing
-The screen with “go to lunch” seems useless to me (except for the ball). Additional surprise interactions at this time could have made this break time more useful.
-Repetitive gameplay
-Money is very slow earned. (thanks Day 6 management service. lol)
-There does not seem to be any difference between work sessions with and without errors.
-The first action is always about to end when a new session is started of work. 1 second of waiting will not be refused.
-Shop : a cursor during navigation would have been useful.
-Gallery : “Lunch incident” cutsen dosent work.
-Gallery : Final image and client size are the same image.
-Gallery : Once you get in you can’t get out.
Final result: I really liked it. The games are very addictive. The story makes you question yourself and wonder how it will all end. The atmosphere is really great. The whole artistic aspect, whether music or art, immerses us in this world where we feel that the character no longer has hope. Maybe add more color when it starts to look better like the saleswoman says.
As I said above there are still little things to see but that’s just my opinion.
Thank you for your work.
What a great game! I didn’t really know what to expect but I really enjoyed it in the end!
It was extremely subversive when The hot manager lady never got any chocolate (rip my hopes and dreams…)
It just doesn’t run. At all.
Using a Windows 10, redownloaded it several times. Did exactly as recommended. Briefly shows up a black screen with a loading circle, then just shuts down the program. Can’t see it run in the task manager.
This has been reported as a rare bug with Godot in several of the jam entries this year. It seems more common on Windows 10 devices. If you know how to update your display drivers, that may or may not fix the issue.
Hi there! I am the lead artist and animator for Another Day In Paradise. i want to personally give a humongous thank you to absolutely everyone who played our game, completed it, left comments, and gave feedback. regardless of whether you personally enjoyed our entry or not, the fact that you took the time to participate in our project at all means so much to me. I absolutely did NOT expect to place as high as we did, but im certainly more than grateful to receive that placement. Even if we didnt make top 3, you better believe that we’ll be reaching even higher for next year! see you all later! :>
