Apostles (Latest Update 0.11: July 2024)

I haven’t played the new version yet, but the reactions are priceless!

I’m always incredibly happy to see the reactions from everyone, whether they be in the form of long essay reviews, or in the form of memes.

0.5.1 in case anyone has yet to play. It’s just minor bug fixes. Hopefully this is the only patch needed, to be honest I was quite flummoxed to see I had not added a single game breaking bug!

Well, after playing the newest addition I only have one thing to say.

Get the fuck out of here, seriously, the level of intricacy to the world, story, how weight actually plays a role much larger than a personal preference, you’ve outdone yourself to such a degree, that you should be charging people to play this, despite having the lack of ability to buy such a game. You should be out there making new-york bestsellers or working as the lead writer in some AAA game company or even a script writer in one of Hollywood film studios. It amazes me what you’re doing with talents such as yours.

I mean no disrespect, but you could be doing so much more. It feels near criminal playing this game for free, despite it not being finished.

@Itsjustgary Thank you so much for the enthusiastically kind words. It always means the world whenever someone enjoys my ramblings work! And while I do think I’m still a a “bit” shy of triple A work, I always feel like working on Apostles helps me improve for future endeavors! Who knows? Perhaps one day I’ll be able to share a super mega awesome award winning novel I wrote here first?

And while I am always humbled when someone offers money or tells me I should charge, there’s no need to worry. I am safe enough financially that I don’t want to take money from others, and would especially not feel right because as much as I love Apostles, it is a weekend hobby, and don’t work long enough hours on it to warrant being paid for it.

I think turning it into a ‘job’ would take some magic out of it. I know waiting between too short updates might suck, but without the obligation of player’s finances poured into the project I feel safe to work on it a more leisurely pace that lets me experiment and gives ideas longer time to breathe and improve!

But more then anything, thank you a lot for the words you gave, hope the next update coming up as well as future bring the same standard as the previous!

@Nerds As soon as I finish talks with the merchandising company. I really think the release of the of a new Jean-Luc the Immortal game will boost the sales of the new line of Jean-Luc the immortal paraphernalia I plan to put out.

Keep an eye out in stores kids! New Jean-Luc the Immortal T-Shirts, Action figures, and Bobble Heads coming soon!

This game is amazing, like genuinely amazing. Hours upon hours of content for a currently unfinished fetish game. Like I really think you are doing amazing work with this project and hope to see it continue and some day be completed.

Props on you as well dude, for giving us this experience for completely free, to know all your time and effort just goes towards bringing other people entertainment. You are an absolute legend.

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed, and while it might take a few centauries, I promise to see this project through to the end!

You joke, but as people around here know about me, writing tabletop RPG stuff is what I do. I’ve been wanting to make an ExpanD&D RPG maker game for a long time and just never been able to break down the wall of knowing what I’m doing with the system. But the Apostles setting is exactly the kind of thing I can absolutely write plenty of tabletop rules around and could probably put together a campaign with enough time and effort.

If you’ve ever got a wonder of what something like that might look like, let me know and I can probably throw something together in a game system of your preference.

Just sacrifice a few goats and make a few prayers. I’m sure we can get that immortality in order for you to fully work on this game to completion.

I’ve never really been one for tabletop play, save for one drunken game way back when! That being said if you wanted to use the Apostles lore for a basis for anything you wanted to make then by all means I’d be interested to see what it’d be!

Fuck the ice puzzle

IS THAT THE FUCKING FANG OF CRITIAS???

I better get to Summon a Blue-Eyes later in this game, or use Berserker Soul

Ice puzzle giving you trouble? Hopefully the fact that you could skip it by just going for the key before reading the sign really twists the knife  There is also a solution after the boulder appears where you just hope over the little plank of wood next to the key.

And Yes that is the Fang of Critias, my terrible taste in music knows no bounds!

Progress report for May-
Don’t let the tasteful lateness of this Progress report fool you, I’m actually keeping fairly well on top of work for Apostles 0.6! The lack of serious bugs in 0.5 meant I could hit the ground running and I was able to go straight from 0.5 to 0.6 with ease.

The next update will be a simpler one in mechanical aspects, but it will have a lot of fun fats, scenes both lewd and wholesome, and a section of story I’ve been wanting to tell for a long time. Lily and Sebastian have had their own dedicated updates it’s time for the last member of the Trio to get her turn!

Not sure where I left off on this game exactly, or what I still need to see with what I hadn’t kept up-to-date on…but I do adore this one. Yes, it starts slow early, but it’s powerful, and the story has so much depth I went from ‘but I’m jonesing, and I need the fats’ to ‘I guess I’ll keep going, even as the sun is rising, because I wanna see where all of this is taking me’. Might have cried a time or two, maybe a little.

I love the whole inn/tavern thing so much, along with everyone consistently a part of it. I eagerly look forward to seeing what I might have missed connected to them, even if I understand most of what I haven’t seen probably goes on in the cave and the alternate space. Oh, and the catharsis of seeing ‘just desserts’ being served, despite how dark it can all get. I’m an awful person, so none of it really puts me off.

For raw WG content, this has a semi-low level, and seems to be all slow and isolated moments of brilliance. For a story game, this is still master class. I haven’t replayed, and I had to break my playing up a couple of times (because I needed something quicker, at the time), but this game is an automatic entry on any reasonable favorites list, in my opinion.

Hey! I thought I’d make a suggestion for an improvement for the game which should be a quick and easy addition, namely: name tags.

All you have to do is download and add this add on to the game:
http://www.yanfly.moe/wiki/Message_Core_(YEP)

And then download this one as well:
http://sumrndm.site/automatic-name-boxes/

And that second one works with the first to allow you to automatically set name tags to appear whenever you use a picture of any given character’s face. Its super easy.

Not saying you have to do it, but I think it’ll be a nice addition
