Didn’t see that button, my bad. Still, I think there’s something to be said about how much more Itch advertises the donation feature on downloadable games. It always pops right up in your face, so it’s pretty impossible to miss.
Also, one advantage of Patreon is the payment methods it offers. To my knowledge, Itch only allows payments through PayPal and Stripe, while Patreon offers many more. I’m not really sure if the fees would be any better or worse, but it’s a factor worth considering.
I wondered why the Explore button for the city did exist even after all the locations were revealed. Thought originally it was a glitch, but I guess it was an unintended spoiler. That and the odd UI spacing that happens as you discover new locations.
Yeah, the explore city button was made with the intention of splitting up the walk button into more defined actions, in the last update the only thing that was tide to it was discovering new locations. In the next one there will be events and characters tide to it. That way people will feel inclined to actually click on it, rather than just doing it for the sake of doing it. As for the odd UI spacing, that was more due to my lack of knowledge, though I have now figure out how to save space on the menus and have things pop in without an obvious empty space.
I think if every game had a Patreon or whatever other way of monetization, people without an income would just feel bad for being unable to support the creator…that’s something to keep in mind, honestly. This is his first project anyway (As far as I know, at least), he should get some more experience before starting to make games as a semi-professional activity
Value 4 Value model wouldn’t leave people out.
having a way for others that might want to help the creator via a donation without locking content behind a paywall can a be good balance to test for potential income high enough to consider dedicating more time to the project
I would HIGHLY recommend just setting up a Kofi instead of patreon, especially as more of a ‘tip jar’. Iirc, patreon takes like 18-30% of every transaction. They’re also fairly beholden to paypal, which tends to enforce some Quality Christian Minecraft server levels of filtering at random. Kofi will actually put more of the money want to throw tour way into your pocket.
Adding to that, I don’t think Patreon is a good idea anyway. Since a lot of people would use Patreon as a paywall, rather than an optional donation to the creator. It’s going to lead to quite a bit of piracy, to which would lead to the cancellation of the development of any game they would create. It has happened plenty of times before with other developers on here, so I wouldn’t put it past them.
Kofi is not great with NSFW content though. Something as simple as partial nudity can get an account locked. And it also uses PayPal. So the same issues that can arise on patreon happen on Kofi. If you want to use it as a tip jar with nothing in return to the donators then you’re probably safe. But anything else Kofi probably isn’t the right call.
Because there’s another event for her later in the game, I get ya, I also wanted to give her the AE vial to see how big she could get, but the dev is working on more events with some chracters
For what to use the AE vial on as its a bit hard, wait until your character gets fat enough that you find the buffet
The espresso buying more when I buy 100 it’ll go and and make me to zero dollars regardless of how much I have, for example I had over 6k and it went to 0 left by doing that. As well buying 10 for 50 does a lot more than 50 for me.
