Well, the sizes of the original images are different: where the width of the small edge is 1024, 876, 1060, 1280, etc.
I reduced all the images to 512 pixels on the small edge with minimal loss of quality.
And as I understand it, when opening, the actual image size opens, the same as in the game.
The image does not become larger if you open it in full screen. As I understand it, this is the current problem. Little by little, I make 1024 on the small edge. I will do it in a couple of hours, probably.
It will be an additional link next to the main one. In the game (for me), images are compressed to 512 if you do not open them in full size, so there is no difference.
Example 1k
Done. Added a link to the topic header for the 1k image.
It seems I didn’t understand you and did a lot of work for nothing. No, the fact that backgrounds appeared and images became smaller is the author’s joke. As I have already checked, they are fixed at 512 pixels (at least for me, I didn’t look into the code). I myself last launched 0.7.2, there was no such thing there yet, and the originals, as I wrote above, were about 1000 pixels. So I thought about it and made a 1k quality version, they won’t be in the game anymore, but if you open the image in a separate window, it will be full screen.
Im sorry if I made you do unnecessary work. Still, I wonder why the original author made smaller images and backgrounds, before those the game looked much better imo. Again, sorry I thought it had something to do with the new images you made
A new update has come out just called DLC. Is this HD Mod able to work with it or no?
My graphics package only replaces the images in the original game, it is compatible with any version. The only problem would be if the developer changed some images, then my package would “cancel them”.
I will test it out then.
I looked at the contents of the game, all the new content is in the DLC folder. So the package should not affect the game, I found one unedited image, but it is in the prologue so there is no point in redoing it, if asked I will redo it.
DLC renders are ready by ~80%. I will post them tomorrow.
Added a link to the DLC in 1k quality in the topic header, I will add a more compressed version later.
Do you plan on making rest of images that appeared in newest DLC on itch?
Yes. Honestly, I saw the update information 5 minutes after the game update, but this week has been pretty tough. Now I have time. I’ll start doing it. At best, I think I’ll do it by Saturday.
Victoria update
I’m back in action a bit, here’s the first patch of images.
Next week I’ll have to work all week, including weekends from morning to evening. So I clearly won’t have the time and energy to work on the images and, accordingly, there won’t be any patches.
Until the full version of the DLC2 update comes out, I’ll be dropping images in full size, then I’ll do everything at once and in compressed form
Do you need a compressed version for DLC?
- Yes
- No
Finished updating the DLC2.
The program I use for compression fails when compressing wbep files, so the full version is lighter, and the time spent on manual saving to get an adequate size is not worth it.
That’s why I’m posting only the full-size version, because the developer has long used 1024 quality + my images are already 5 times smaller than the originals in terms of disk space.
I did a poll to find out opinions on the problem, and a similar problem with compression was last time, but there weren’t so many photos and I re-saved all the files one by one.
Yes, size information:
Original 72 MB.
Full version 36 MB.
Compressed version 50 MB.
Link in the topic header has been updated. Link to compressed DLC has been removed due to irrelevance.
Hello. If anyone’s been waiting for an image pack update, I’m sorry to disappoint you. Due to life’s circumstances, I currently lack the energy and inclination to rework the images. This situation will continue until at least the end of the year, and I can’t promise I’ll be able to complete it next year. Here are a few images as a consolation prize.
Take your time, boss. Thanks for all the previous excellent work.
Mini patch
