BloatLand - A WarioLand Inspired WG Inflation Platformer (0.1.71) 2/22/2026

Here are some quick concepts based on the sketches in your earlier post (forgive my hasty mouse lineart). Obviously how exactly you’d want to do this is up to you, but this is what I’m imagining, personally! The main thought is to either have a visible crease where the belt is wrapped around Googal’s body, or have it visibly hanging off her sides.

While I will miss Googal’s silly PJ-like pants, I really dig these redesigns. And I agree with Flateur on more or less everything. I like the third the most, and making some of the accessories bigger’ll help make sure they aren’t too small to be basically unnoticeable - especially when the rest of her will be growing out so much.

Side note, the semi-mermaid form is very silly and I love it. Fish tried to swallow her up but they get stuck around her waist instead lol

The mole lady is very cute

Oh yeah these are handy, I had a similar idea for how the belt would affect her transformations! I think the belt popping is inevitable for every transformation due to how big they all get lmao.
I only realized this just now, but due to the expansion stages of all transformations being able to go backwards and get smaller, it’d be weird having your belt pop back on when you go back to a previous expansion stage. The belt will probably need to pop right away, and stay hanging for the whole transformation.

Maybe the PJ’s will make a cameo lmao ;p I’m glad we’re all on the same page, and yeah I also agree that all the little stuff need to be more bigger. When I tried making these changes to Googals sprites, I realized that her sandals were way to tiny and impossible to draw on such small sprites, so now I’m thinking about bringing the boots back.

Haha yeah, I really love the idea of a fish being like damn girl you too fat to swallow whole lmao.
Originally, all of the transformations were going to be waayyy wackier than they are now, but currently they all ended up being really toned down. So I’m glad to at least inject a little silliness into the current transformations if I can.

i finally had the time to play this and woah!!! this feels a lot more fun!! you polished it up quite a bit… as for the new outfit, definitely the third one!!

Idea for how the belt gets back on: the belt is a sentient slime that crawls back on to her after she shrinks. I don’t know how this would look in-game but I think having the belt be a little guy that loves hugging the MC’s belly would be a fun in lore thing.

belt mimic… maybe the buckle opens up into big scary cartoon jaws sometimes, or the buckle has a little eye on it…it goes wide when it starts straining

YESSS THIS IS SOO GOOD. I know it acts annoyed when it pops off but actually loves it

I’ll have to think on it and see if this is something I specifically want to do for Googal, but I do really like the idea of a sentient belt and/or other sentient objects. Definitely might be something I’d want to add into the game.

That’s good! Little guy’s about to pop! <3
Another interpretation I thought of was the belt being a snake who bites it’s own tail, many fun ways you can go about this sentient belt concept.

I put up version 0.1.71, which has some decent sized changes to the new Autumn level.

Patch Notes
  • Completely remade a large section of the waterfalls area (Before the giant snozzlenose)
  • Rearranged the waterballoon/fire room into a throwing puzzle room
  • Slightly extended / shrunk the level in some parts
  • Added three of a special collectible in the new autumn level
  • Moved the honey comb near spawn out of the bee’s nest and put it in the screen above
  • Villagers can now be KO’d (They can also respawn in the village)
  • Redrew all of Googals base sprites, and added a few extra’s
  • Patched some bugs that popped up (Not all known bugs have been patched yet though)

I think the new waterfalls area is an improvement, as well as the smaller changes. There’s still several things I could’ve done, but these were the main things I wanted to get input on at the moment.
Also it’s probably pretty obvious that I’m not going to have a demo ready by the end of march lmao, I’m still happy with the progress I’m making on this project though.

Little progress report, actually got a lot done on the environmental art! All I really got left to do is figure out a waterfall/sky background for the waterfalls area, and all the objects and stuff. It definitely helps the level feel more complete. I’m a little worried about the art quality being a little shoddy though, since I’m having to balance the work in a way to not waste all my time and energy.

Other than that, I completely reworked the bee, now it’s simpler and more fun to dodge, and will leave you alone after a certain time of chasing. I also reworked certain parts of the level layout as I was making tilesets. There’s not much to talk about since a lot of my time spent was making a visual environment.

I think it’ll be really exciting once I get a lot of the art and flair done, but it’ll take a while.
