If you want to force a wait you can do half the text instantly, force wait, player clicks, instant the other half. In renpy this would be {w}, not sure what it is with your bespoke code.

Another flaw in saving settings.

Start game, change volume settings, new game, play through to lucy eating pizza. Close program. Start program. Volume forgotten again, re change volume settings, this time load game, it loads on the people shop class menu, click to go back to main menu from the loaded game… and volume settings reset again.

TLDR: Something is wrong with saving specifically in relation to the volume settings.

I really enjoyed what I played of this, which is WHY I may come off critical, because I want it to get even better. A lot of the general gameplay loop and the like is great, characters are interesting etc etc. HOWEVER.

  1. I really dislike the lack of a save and the “if you wanna make a different choice, then just start a new file” belief. Especially when the game is so new and I can’t actually tell how important each choice is.
  2. Could use some clarity/consistency in the general gameplay loop. It was a bit odd at times not being totally sure why I could feed/date someone, who I got the number of, etc.
  3. Money is a bit weird in this. Working feels like it’s honestly more there to get pictures of your hot coworker than anything else. It’s often somewhat repetitive, only one or two choices really matter, and the money you make/extra food you get is so small relative to just making sure you study enough to get decent allowance. Speaking of… It is super weird at first trying to understand the allowance system, studying/going to class, etc. And the amount of money you make is odd because it’s a struggle to feed 1 girl to full at first, then suddenly a few weeks in you can blow 400 dollars a week on food.
  4. I know it’s new but just check around for bugs/freezes. If I remember, trying to NOT have the elf taken home during the final date can straight up result in a freeze/no text on screen and I had to close the game and re-open, taking me to a state where I cant date her today so it seemingly HAPPENED, but the day isn’t over yet?
  5. Maybe we can just smooth over some of the writing? There are times where characters don’t feel super natural, and honestly as much as I want to fatten every girl in the game, I also want them to feel like characters, not just fetish bait.
    ANYWAYS long post over, overall I came away from this way more excited than expected, but I wanted to be blatantly clear on what I felt could be improved.

Hey! I love the feedback. I’d love to talk more and ask questions, would you be willing to join the discord or at least dm me? We can go back and forth and it’d be easier than in the forum.

Bugs and freezes are hard because I have to test EVERY dialogue option to make sure it doesn’t do this. I did my best believe me. But they’re easy fixes if people report them!

I’d love to talk about the writing and mechanics. I don’t love how money currently feels either atm.

I personally think working would be greatly improved if:

  1. You could eventually get promoted, meaning you get incentivized to use this option more often since in the long run it’d be as economically viable as studying for allowance

  2. The other patrons also gained weight, in order to make it less repetitive. Sure more people would also be nice but I feel like ~3 weight stages for the ones we got so far would be neat. This could also tie into the promotion thing, you could get promoted once every patron reaches stage 2 or something

  3. More of a minor nitpick but I think not being able to see the spoiled blonde girl again after completing her plotline reduced the pool of events for working AND made the “reward” for completing that plotline (seeing her big) less good as it’d only happen once.

Also unrelated but I need to know, does the fire girl (I’m bad with names) permanently gain weight at some point? It felt as if no matter how much I stuffed her she never changed. She’s a great character though, I wish she could get promoted to main character someday lol

Molly never perma gains. But you’ll get plenty of payoff with her in the next update. Some characters are constants for me to use in other storylines!

Bro the fuck mean content warning Rape

This is a fun game, with lots of interactions and choices available. The writing is great, the characters are cute and the VA sound effects add a lovely extra touch to those certain scenes. I can see a lot of potential for this game to expand, both in terms of story depth and character choice.

But the save system. I’m not gonna mince words, it sucks major balls. It’s infuriating, I can’t remember the last time I’ve been turned away from a game due to how it saves my progress. Let me run you through where I’m at.

I’ve “completed” the current amount of content. I’ve got Lucy and Aerie to 600lbs each, I’ve fattened that cheerleader girl at the café, I’ve given the shopkeep the BE potions. There’s probably content that I’ve missed. Skimming through the messages here and on discord, there’s definitely content that I’ve missed. But I don’t want to play again to find it, because I don’t know where it is. And if I accidentally make the wrong choice at a seemingly inconsequential crossroads, I’ll have to restart from the beginning again to get back to that point and then see the hidden content.

I don’t want to return to the 80s and write out my pathing for each playthrough, that’s a boring and tedious task in any game, especially so in a fetish one where the mood really determines how much you’ll enjoy it. It shouldn’t feel like a chore to discover a random NPC’s extra-stuffed state, or read someone’s alternate reaction to what you said to them.

You’ve mentioned that the benefit of this saving method is that saves will always carry over different versions, but I would far rather that be the drawback in exchange for having multiple save points to explore the branching paths. This has the potential to be a great game and I do want to see all of the content that it has to offer, but I have no inclination to repeatedly start from the beginning and blindly stumble around in order to do so.

Is Emma (the dark elf) going to be a romancable character? love to have more scenes with her, and some more scenes with the scientists too.

Themes of rape upset or turn off some people. I’d rather put a content warning than have people make a choice they weren’t aware of what they’d see.

Hey! Thanks for the feedback. A big part (nearly the entire part) of this save system is because it was easy to engineer. A better one would be harder. I added a “replay mode” which if you get both Aerie and Lucy to 450lbs, you can start a new playthrough with infinite money and food. I felt that was a good stopgap for now to hopefully convince players to try other paths.

I apologize that it feels like a chore. Honestly in an ideal state, certain scenes will be rare, hard to find, etc. It means that you can keep playing the game and finding new things. I know that content in this space is sparce, but I’d rather make an interesting game than hand you everything on a platter.

Save states are a hard thing to engineer from scratch. This game isn’t made in something that already has it built in. I would have to make it myself. I would much rather make the game more fun to run through than make it so you can re-load a save when you made the wrong choice.

The Beta 1.2 update is here!

This will be the last major update I post to Deight Class for a couple months. I had a lot of time lately to binge develop, but my time will be far more limited going forward. That doesn’t mean I’m going to abandon the project though! I’ll be around in the discord posting regular updates and even some pre-access builds for beta testers, so if you want to stay up to date be sure to join there.

That being said this update brings our third love interest: Chikori! Full changelist below.

EDIT: 1.21b has a fix for this bug.
