As was said before the fact the girls’ sprites stay mostly consistent between scenes and stage is appreciated as AI gen can really mess that up. The event tracker is a very good addition as this is a feature I really liked in “Indulgences” though I’m puzzled by the “stage 9” for Gina since she’s capped at 8 so far.
Harper scenes were nice though I guess her last one could be timegated by an actual week in game since it’s mentioned a week passed since the last event despite getting it the next day … then again that’s not the only timeline discrepancy I’ve noticed ^_^;
A few bugs I experienced so far:
A sprite overlay between Bella’s sprites with and without her jacket during Harper’s visit at the dorm;
Mia stage 6 event sprite not showing up as the game search for “Mia6_event” while the image labeled as “Mia6event” then her regular sprite appearing after the result of the competition with the error message behind it.
Thanks! I knew the event tracker was going to be needed sooner rather than later, so I figured it was time to get that started. There isn’t much “skippable” content currently, but as I keep working on the actual housemates and their events, I know that’s going to become more of a possibility.
Once I reached the point when I was playing my own save and I has to ask myself “Did I do that event yet?” I knew it was time lol
As for Gina, 2 days after her Stage 8 conversation Abby should have sent you a text. Did she do that?
I appreciate it!
Expect the next one as early as Sunday. Definitely won’t be as big as .25 in terms of new sprites, but I already have 17 new events made and have a good vision on what else I want added before .26 drops!
I saw the the event where you give a painting to Gina it’s just that in the event list there’s a stage 9 event for her while her max stage is 8 an you can’t give her any more milkshake.
I think the phrase “doing serious structural work” and close variants are overused. The situation they describe is hot, but overuse draws the reader’s attention to the words instead. I’d recommend finding other ways to phrase the sexy body-outfit interaction in question.
In the conversation where Harper’s friends introduce themselves, the player is called “the player” a few times.
The prompt to work still says “$45” whether your pay is $45 or $50.
EDIT:
When Priya is stage 2 and not stuffed and an acquaintance, flirting with her can crash the game. The error message is a long series of “in script call” lines, and at the end: File "game/girls/priya.rpy", line 1145, in <module> NameError: name '_stage' is not defined
Gwen seems to be missing some expressions at her higher weight; when you buy the restraint brew she appears to become skinny again.
When Zoe first goes to Harvest Table she could use a stuffing stage for when she’s had one or two plates. The text refers to it.
For Lily to introduce you to Color & Canvas, she has to reach Stage 1. I think friendship or good-friendship should be enough.
When Mia’s at the cafeteria, talking to her changes her outfit.
When visiting with Harper, you can tell her practice (which you’re at) is Thursdays at four, when it isn’t Thursday. I caught it happening on Tuesday.
During the Harper & Bella visit, there’s a missing Bella outfit, when she cringes.
Not sure if it’s intentional but Mia is missing her full sprites from stage 4 onwards and overstuffed sprites from 3 onwards. Might be the other way around stage wise, bit hard to tell since the stage 3 “has been fed“ sprite PNG is gibberish in the files
There’s something a little samey in how most of the characters talk. It’s a tendency towards self- observation and detachment from one’s emotions, thoughts, and actions in a way that Buddhists (and AI models, cough cough) would approve of. I caught BunniBlue - Bunni-frickin’-Blu, a gamer-turned-camgirl, saying
I fully accept this about myself. I have made peace with it.
Like, I’m actually for characters being serious Buddhists! It’s neat characterization and rare to boot. Shout out to Naomi, the giantess character from Growth Academy! And I allow that streamers may have hidden depths; they are real people, after all. But in Dorm House most of the characters talk a little bit Buddhist by default, and that’s not the same thing at all!
EDIT:
Also general AI-writing complaint: One of Zoe’s stage 0 flirting responses:
I look the way I look every day. Precision isn’t a compliment; it’s a habit.
“Not X but Y” UUGGGGHHH STOP GET OUT OF MY HEAD. A real human being would have said “I look the way I look every day.” and let the rest be implication!
I’m not against AI content or else I’d avoid this whole game on principle, but letting the usual bugaboos come through in force is another question entirely.
You’re definitely right. A lot of these came through back in the original version, when I had no defined personalities for these characters and was genuinely rushing to get the content out. Once I realized just how mind numbingly daunting how much writing I would have to do for all of the gossip lines, I kind of focused way too hard on quantity over quality.
That said, I’m not happy with how fake that dialogue sounds and feels. I’ve put a lot more effort into crafting the events and polishing the dialogue/content there to make the characters feel more “human”, and I’m going back bit by bit and doing the same for all of the gossip, flirting, and talking dialogue as well. As well as just genuinely improving what’s there, now that I have more defined personalities THROUGH the events for the characters that they can even reference now.
Version .26 may take a bit longer, as I want to continue to polish up more of the content that’s already here before I keep building on top of it. I definitely want these cleaned up and add any additional housemate features before introducing Harper as an official housemate.
