Dorm House - v0.28 WG BE Visual Novel - 8.10.26

They’re located in the “Game” folder and you have to import them manually from a previous version unlike other renpy game I’ve played so far.

I appreciate the kind words :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

-Got em! Don’t know if you noticed, but I changed the day number at the top to ???, and the MC kept referring to Harper as girlfriend. That was meant to be a hint it was a dream, but sorry for the rug pull! Harper is my favorite character, besides Becca; I’m really looking forward to adding her as a housemate, but that will honestly take some time, since I want to ensure all the other housemates content is fleshed out (especially their talking, flirting, and gossiping content) before I add another housemate to the list. There will DEFINITELY be a Manyuu Hikenchou inspired character arc in the future (I already know who and how), but it won’t be for Harper.

-As a big boob and breast expansion lover, it hurt to do that, but it felt like the right direction to take Kristy’s arc. I really enjoyed writing her content - Definitely darker than anything else in the game, and people have been receptive to it. I was nervous if people were going to be a bit uncomfortable with the direction.

  • I’m glad you liked the Lily events! She has my favorite growth style, and I plan on adding more events for her.

-The professor had the longest wait out of any character for SOMETHING to happen. I dropped her in the game, and had zero inspiration on what to do with her. avakann gave me an idea for her, and I loved it.

- I had the most fun with Rachel in this update, which I didn’t expect. I plan on creating a secondary way to introduce random unnamed characters (like maybe walking through the college hallways, at the mall, downtown, etc.). But it’s my goal to make sure all side characters have personality, since I think that adds to the expansion in a big way.

- I literally have Tiffany’s next six stages planned. Competition for Gina you say…

Thanks again! I started Dorm House since I got impatient waiting for my favorite weight gain games to get updates, and I’ve had such a fun time working on it. I have such a large vision for where I want to take it!

Thanks for helping!

I wanted to avoid giving it the same default UI as other renpy games, which meant I ended up avoiding using typical loading and saving methods for renpy games. It’s definitely made it harder on me, but I’ll eventually get around to sprucing up the UI to give it a more polished appearance.

Lol, I thought it was a pacing problem and it was a mistake I see in plenty of other renpy games where the dev put in an event that is accessible before the details have even happened. Like an event where the girl is at stage 8, but you’ve only reached stage 4. I reloaded my save once I read the beginning of the dream and thought that I need to further my relationship with her so it will make sense. I was wondering why she wouldn’t move in until I came back to the thread and read she isn’t a housemate yet.

I know the game is in early development so it’s normal for the stats to be bare-bones (especially since intelligence and awareness can’t be raised yet) but here’s my two cents on how I’d expand on them:

  • Strength: Now only useful to accelerate the beach cleaning (and make Lexi fatter) it could probably be used for events with Mia or for a mini game like those “test your strength” carnival games.
  • Intelligence: Could be used to unlock more advanced book in the library or even arcane tomes from Gwen’s shop.
  • Art: Beside making Penny’s ass grow I guess it could lead to events with Lilly (though the jogger is linked to art if memory serves) or make gifts for the girls.
  • Cooking: Aside from fattening Abby and unlocking further meal options could also be used to make special food items you could feed to the girls.
  • Charisma: Outside of the bar mini game I think it could boost relationship gains with the housemates when talking/flirting with them or push the girls further during a feeding session with a chance not to raise suspicion.
  • Awareness: I’m not even sure what it’ll entail though if I have to hazard a guess it could have a chance to give a warning that you’re being watched, mainly because I find the message “X housemate : Hey I saw you feed Y housemate, I don’t think she wanted all that” to be … well not unfair but weird when said room-mate was nowhere to be seen before or after the feeding session.

I don’t know how feasible these would be or if they would even fit with what you have planned.

There are great ideas, and honestly a handful are close to what I have planned!

  • The Boardwalk Amusement Park will be opening soon, and strength actually will be used in a type of strength testing mini game. I like the idea with Mia - she will be getting a major overhaul soon, and that can be used.
  • Intelligence - It will be used in the future to unlock more characters, but I really like the idea of unlocking more advanced books - that would be an additional incentive, once the path to raising intelligence is made.
  • Artistic - Isn’t Penny’s ass enough of a reward? You’re right, it’s also used in the jogger’s event. It is also required for Gina! And Lily will have events linked to the player’s artistic skill. The art store was originally meant to be a store where the player can buy art to increase the housemates relationship level, but I actually like the idea of leveraging the stat for the housemates. I feel like the Artistic skill has the most going on, surprisingly.
  • Cooking - I’ve thought about that as well, but I was afraid of overcomplicating things by also giving the player the ability to cook food. The jury is still out with that one.
  • Charisma - It actually DOES help reduce the chance that if you overfeed a housemate, her suspicion will increase. It also silently increases the chance suspicion will decrease when talking to a housemate.
  • Awareness - You’re pretty spot on! In the future, it will decrease the chance it triggers an end of the night text from a housemate. Once implemented, there will also be certain things the MC notices only if their awareness is high enough. I’m still working on other ideas to actively include it before I actually implement a whole system for it though.

Cooking - I’ve thought about that as well, but I was afraid of overcomplicating things by also giving the player the ability to cook food. The jury is still out with that one.

Understandable. It could really add up with the other food items that you can already purchase at the store and the cafeteria or any future venue that serve food.

Charisma - It actually DOES help reduce the chance that if you overfeed a housemate, her suspicion will increase. It also silently increases the chance suspicion will decrease when talking to a housemate.

Good to know, I guess I might have bad rolls on that.

I’m looking forward to future update

How do I first unlock the buffet? I assumed it was via kristy but sitting with kristy at the cafeteria is just an infinite loop that doesn’t use time….

You need to buy the restraint brew for Zoe from the occult shop, give it to her in her bedroom and come back the next day

Continuously blown away by the quality you are able to push out at such a rapid pace. I’m impressed with your work ethic. (and am incredibly grateful for it since this is quickly becoming one of my various games in the scene)

Thanks! It’s sometimes difficult since I have a high demand job, but I try to do my best to work on it at least a bit each day.

With that said, it’ll roughly be another 5-7 days before version .28 drops!

Sorry for the delay - I bit off way more than I could chew. I MAY have added 5 new characters (plus 6 nameless characters for college, like how customers functions). Between wrapping up some pre existing characters and getting the new ones to a working state, It looks like it’ll be another few days before .28 drops.

Reworking previous content is more time consuming than adding, surprisingly. Fixing up a lot of Lily’s older content was a priority, since it simply doesn’t match her personality anymore. I’ve updated her flirting, as well as some of her gossip, and i think it lands much better than what I had before.

I could probably drop it now, but I want to do my best to get some characters I’ve created further along in their stages, minimize bugs, and test everything myself. I hate when I have to drop a hot fix because something major wasn’t working right.

Good game, one of the better ones I’ve seen.

My only criticism is some of the tics that come with AI generated dialogue:

  • It really likes to repeat itself. “becca doesn’t connect cause and effect” “because she doesn’t put together cause and effect” etc etc, using essentially the exact same clause 3 times in 5 pages of dialogue.
  • Man, if I had a nickel for every time this game said “she looks like someone who (blank)” … I’d have lots of nickels. And sometimes it’s one step away from “she’s so fat she looks like someone who’s fat”

The game mechanics are top notch. This genre of “map explorer/feeder VNs” usually suffers from either (A) not enough stuff to do, making each day turn into the same routine, or (B) huge continuity problems when one girl gets way bigger than the rest. Dorm House seems to have neither of these problems, and that’s really cool!

Right now I’m working on my first proper project since Forks, and I’m seriously considering lifting your “suspicion” mechanic, that’s a great little innovation.

Out of curiosity, how good have your AI tools been at actually writing ren’py code? How well does it handle the script and screen languages?

Hey there!

The AI-generated dialogue (especially with some of the talking, flirting, and gossip lines) in my first few versions definitely needs rework, and I’ve been slowly going back and updating it since I hate how it comes out, now that I’ve established my own style and more of the character’s personalities.

The continuity is one of my biggest challenges, as most events with two characters have branching dialogue lines based off the size differences. However, I feel like NOT focusing on that really breaks immersion, and has caused me to slow down especially with version .28, since there are more characters besides the housemates that interact, that all have their own independent growth phases.

They handle script and screen languages great! When I use them I’ve rarely had syntax issues.

And for the mobile, thanks for letting me know! I didn’t realize how POPULAR the android version would be compared to PC, but no one has really commented on issues with it yet. I have an iPhone, so I haven’t been able to test it proper on android myself.

Both have future plans! But I haven’t implemented either yet

Just saw the update dropped and played through it. Really like all the expanded college content, really feels more fleshed out now. I especially am interested in Angelina, she instantly stole the show for the updated for me; interested in seeing how her content plays out. :eyes: I hope there is a way we can sabotage her research attempts though, we can’t lose another boob girl like this. :sob:It would be great if we could end up swapping the transfer direction and funnel it into her instead as it was hinted maybe something could go astray! lol Also curious to see how the rest of the student council and volleyball content turns out as well. Keep cooking with the updates; each one has been a banger!
