All of the new weight stages have been drawn and implemented. Here’s a little peek at one of these bigger Clairs, as well as an example of how their girth can effect gameplay. :3
gosh gosh gosh gosh gosh!!! thank you for your updates! always so excited to see your work
Ive actually got a copy of rhythm heaven studio from feb of last year if you want to attempt to play around with it. I immediately recognized the rhythm pattern of fill bots, super good job on that and amazing game btw!!
Oh sweet! Yeah I’d definitely be interested in taking a look into it, I’ll shoot over a DM. Thank you so much, and I’m glad you liked the game!
I’M GLAD!! Thank you for sticking around, hopefully I’ll have a new build yall can play with this month! ^w^
If you’re interested in checking out Heaven Studio, the last version (June 2024) is available on the Internet Archive here. There’s also a recent revival project linked on the same page, along with the source code.
DoughMutts 0.3.0 is OUT!! Now with bigger mutts and upgrades!
You can head over to itch and play the new build there.
I had a special character in mind for the upgrade screen, but I’m tired of making art so sadly they’re not there. Same goes for an ending, had some ideas but just didn’t want to draw the assets required, so I left it out for another time.
If there is another time. I’m going to take a break on the project after this, seems like a good stopping point. I just don’t have the drive for this game that I originally had, so I think it’d be good to hop onto something else for a little bit.
It’s still possible I’ll come back and add more content, or even remake it from scratch if I’m feeling confident. I just don’t want to chip away at one single thing forever, when I could be improving and learning by making new and different games.
Kinda stinks cause I feel like there’s wasted potential, but the truth is, the only reason the game got this far was because I saw potential and didn’t want to waste it. I’m just glad I was able to at least achieve a fraction of my over-ambitious vision, making something bigger and better than the last.
Thank you everyone! I hope you all enjoy the game! ^w^ <3
well I absolutely love the update. the upgrades are great. but losing them after the 5 day cycle took the wind out of my sails to keep playing unfortunately. a longer cycle or being able to keep the upgrades would be amazing.
Will quietly hold out hope to see you come back to this again in the future though.
Oh, I never thought of that. I guess since nothing happens when you complete a week, there’s no point in resetting everything.
I think it’ll be an easy thing to change, to make it keep going even after the week ended.
Oh thank you! Wonderful even!
a challenging and mesmerizing experience, would love to see where this will go
as for troubleshooting, i had to run this game thrice. first time, godot logo was stuck on my screen. second, after day 2 screen faded to black (i still could pause the game, it said there)
can wait for more so no rush, maintain a pace that suits you best
Another wonderful little high score romp! The gameplay is satisfying once you get the hang of its multiple layers, and the art is lovely. I’m glad that there’s an option to keep playing with all the upgrades now, too.
One minor complaint: Despite the fact that large mutts take up more space on the tray, you still have to click a comparatively small zone in the middle of their bodies in order to actually select them for sale. I’m guessing that this wasn’t an issue when there were only a few weight levels, but now that the mutts can be 3 or 4 times their initial width, the mismatch can be really noticeable. It’s caused me more than a few misclicks and botched sales.
I also tend to have a tough time judging how much space I have left on the conveyor belt, since only a small part of it is ever visible at one time. But maybe tracking that in your head is supposed to be part of the challenge, and I’m just having a skill issue.
Thanks! Oh I completely forgot about those hitboxes, I’ll see what I can do about that.
Yeah, I never really thought of making it more clear on how much more room the conveyor has, but it might be smart to make that more clear.
When I make these changes, I’ll probably wait a day or two to see if anybody else comes up with any issues. Constantly exporting and uploading new builds for minor things can be a drag.
Gave this a try today and just want to say its adorable!
A very satisfying gameplay loop that is definitely easy learn but can get pretty chaotically fun when multitasking, but I’m so glad you can still go at your own pace without repercussions! Makes it a pretty chill time.
Love the little doughmutts designs. They are so so cute and the feed animations are brilliant, especially the big boy!~
For I guess feedback if you wanted, one thing that was tough for me was the tray/loop switch; not really sure why but found it very fiddly, especially after some of the speed upgrades to the conveyorbelt, possibly as simple as making the green lights for the UI their own colours maybe red/orange for tray and green for loop to better stand out? (also forgot to say love the way the camera moves through the rooms!)
The other was just a control issue for me, was more user error but thought I might mention it for accessibility. On more then one occasion I accidently double tapped S when going from the back rooms to the store front and accidently sell nothing to the customer, not too much of an issue as there’s no penalty accept waiting for more customers to come so no biggie
All and all, it’s a very fun little game, you’ve done an awesome job!
Would love to see what’s in store in the future! (New types of pastries to fill? Maybe cosmetic decorations for them, a little icing hat or bowtie. I mean more sizes would also be super fun, they are already wonderfully big!)
Playing through it more and definititely having fun getting a rhythm now that the upgrades stay after day 5, noticing it becomes quite difficult if not impossible to fill the little munch mutts perfectly during the end of day speed up. But also becomes increasingly difficult with enough filling pump upgrades.
On a totally unrelated note. This game is making me sort of think about wanting a doughmutt OC, if thats okay to do.
Nutty just has such a vibe
Thank you so much!! Means a ton for me! ^w^
I’m really glad my invisible adaptive difficulty slider idea is actually working well like I was hoping, how difficult the game gets depends on the players actions and how much they decide to put on their plate.
Yeah I think the tray switch has definitely been the one thing I was interested in seeing how people felt about it. That would be a really simple bandaid though, I haven’t thought of making it easier to tell what mode the conveyor belt is in!
Oh yeah for sure, I already had to add a .1 second cooldown between changing screens and being able to press a button, this problem used to be way worse. I can look into it and maybe make prevent interaction for the whole screen transition. I just wanna be careful not to make it too restrictive, since being able to hop back and quickly deal with your mutts and pups is handy.
Thanks again, I definitely wanted to add a ton of fun stuff like that. I don’t have the drive to do what it takes to meet my over-ambitions though sadly. If I came back to this game concept, I’d probably start it from semi-scratch and make a deluxe version or sequel. I think keeping a project clean and organized would help with motivation, and that’s definitely not the state of DoughMutts right now LMAO.
I agree though, I’d love to see all the fun stuff we can come up with for DoughMutts, I feel like it has quite a bit of potential. <3
Yeah, I figured it’d get stupid crazy with the pump and conveyor upgrades, honestly any upgrade that picks up the speed of the game.
Sure, go ahead! I think that’d be fun!! ^w^
Getting the hang of it all better. Noticed a bit of a peculiar thing though. with max size mutts on the tray, i’ve had customer orders for more mutts than can fit on the tray. usually 3 clairs or two nutties when you can only fit 2 clairs and 1 nutty at their biggest size
Really been loving this game! Probably one of my favorite weight gain games I’ve played, especially loved the Fillbots type of gameplay. I was hoping since weight stages takes up more tray space, could it be possible to make tray upgrades?
I really love this game. It would be nice to see female versions of the dough mutts or at least have a menu that have settings and some cheats that you can toggle to make the game more fun.
If you did add like a main menu, have a endless mode where as you sell the dough mutts, you can purchase upgrades from the difference after all the deductions of a dough mutt sale. Possibly have a sandbox/freeplay mode where you have infinite money and you can mess around with the dough mutts and all the upgrades.
If you want people to get REALLY creative with your game, allow them to change the sprites or possibly allow people to make mods for the game.
Overall, 10/10 game and I would like to see more stuff added in the future.
