Hello guys! just wanted to say that I’m really enjoying the game and had an idea for the game

The Gallery
avalible through the upgrades menu, you could see all the dough-mutts and display all the weight stages you’ve achieved with each, individual mutt.
Some extra features for it I had in mind would be the possibility to view a single stage, reset it and stuff the mutt to that stage again and maybe even give them a belly rub or a headpat which, after a few strokes would play the animation after you perfectly stuffed the mutt

just an idea with 2 extra features, I’m honestly not expecting it to make it into the game.

I do like the idea of a gallery.

But the main issue is you need a main menu in order for that to work.

As similar in my reply above, if the game creator does add one, I would love to not only see your suggestion, but mine as well. I will also add, make save states so you don’t start from the beginning. Grinding from ground zero is tough since you had a bunch of time on the game and had the majority of all the upgrades maxed out.

I will add some new upgrades if possible, auto-feeding. An auto-feeder will feed the doughmutts accordingly and not over fill them while you do other things, like making more doughmutts. And if they are at max fullness, it just trays them instantly so you don’t have to panic about traying them to sell. And the upgraded version is if you have all the sizes unlocked, you can set each doughmutt to a size and as the auto-feeder fills up said doughmutt to that size, it instantly trays them. Of course make a toggle for those who want to do it on their own.

It’s a fun game and I would really love to see those changes added. It will make the game really fun as modders can make mods that changes the gameplay. Though it will be tough to code in as the creator needs to allow said modders to access the game’s code to mod things in. Myself am not a modder but LOVE to use mods in games.

Decided to go back and make some minor adjustments, including patching out a softlock that occurs if you switch screens right before the result screen appears. 0.3.12

Since, like I said already, I’m not going to come back and add anything new to this game, I decided to just release the source file for the project.
Problem is, the project is an absolute mess, it’d be such a pain for others to try to understand and do anything in it. The code is spaghetti, and there is little to no comments explaining what the code does. Even the mutts art assets and animations is complicated, and be too confusing for people trying to do asset swaps or add additional weight stages.

I am currently going through the code and making comments on everything, it’s the least I can do. It’ll still be a mess and be really hard for others to work with, but at least people might have something.
I cannot promise that I’ll open-source it, but I’m going to try, and then anyone can just mess around with the project and try to do something with it.

Good work! I didn’t get to see the whole progression loop because of a crashing bug, but having the whole game on one screen is a great idea and it’s such a cute vibe. I was impressed by how you dimmed the fryer when I went back. Donut dogs! You are an artist(^∇^)I’d love to see your future work

You shouldn’t worry about commenting code. Delicious FATe is over 15,000 lines, and it would be unreadable with comments- imagine doubling the amount of reading (ㆀ˘・з・˘) For me good code has few assumptions that I’d need to even comment about. it scales well and explains itself.

It is hard working with a project you learned is a mess. Taking a game to finish is important for skillset and growth, but starting fresh is a good way to take advantage of your growth. If you’re inclined to start a new project, do it! I want to see what it is! ٩( ‘ω’ )و

Thank you so much!!

OH that’s very good to know!! I only got a little way into commenting everything and was like “I really don’t want to do this” LMAO. But your definitely right, if I feel like I need to make comments for every single thing in my code, then my code is not easily understandable even with the all the comments. That’s something I’m trying to do better with on my current project!

Oh yeah definitely! That’s a big reason why I felt like it was time to move onto another project. I learned and grew a lot while making Doughmutts, but that growth was slowing done and it was becoming a slog to work on this project. The best thing for my growth was to call it wraps and begin on a new project, a blank canvas to fully utilize what I’ve learned, as well as learn and apply new things I couldn’t before! ^w^

Alright, so I’ve decided not to go through commenting the code, but I am still going to release the source file! As well as every build of Doughmutts so far!

Again, a heads up on the source project files, it can get very messy and and complicated. If you’re brave enough to dive into the spaghetti though, go on ahead, bon appetite!!

Thanks for the support!! Since I’m not really able to bring myself to keep working on this, I figured the least I could do is release the project files for people to mess around with.

I see. Sorry that you can’t figure out the code.

I am going to school for IT and Cybersecurity. Helps to learn a bit of code. Maybe I can crack its language to help progress it. It’s a fun game!
