Thanks Mr. Cat! You are the target audience of the animations, I made them for you. And also for me I guess
I am definitely working on this, despite some setbacks! I want to add a bunch of stuff & it’s taking a while-- full 3D shooters are hard to make, it turns out. I’ll be doing a small thing for the Gain Jam (coincidentally while life stuff is preventing me from working on this game), then I’ll get back to it & hopefully have an update before the end of the year.
I had to find my account, because this was so much fun, I couldn’t just finish the content so far without saying openly how much I loved this game. The combat feels so good, and it genuinely floored me how good the movement feels. Please keep it up, I’d legitimately pay money for a full game of this, especially with an endless mode!
hey, thought you’d enjoy some of my messy scribbles. a wee bit selfish to think that but um-
yeah, looking forward to playing it again, very nice game!
Holy shit this kicks ass! Not at all selfish to think I’d want to see this, I think this is the first fanart I’ve ever gotten!! The Metroidy vibe is really cool, EXCELLENT posing
And thanks! Progress continues to be slow & steady, there’s going to be a whole lot of new stuff in the next level. I’ve been dealing with a lot of life stuff this year, I haven’t really been willing or able to crunch as hard as I have in the past. Getting something out by the end of the year is looking increasingly herculean.
The steady trickle of positivity both here & on itch is definitely helping to maintain my passion, though! The final state of the game is looking clearer every day. It’s just that it will probably take… a significant amount of time to get it there.
no matter how much time it takes, it will be worth it only if you enjoyed the process. and the result of course. no need to push yourself to and beyond the limit, otherwise it wouldn’t be a passion project now would it?
and good luck with all that personal stuff! having some issues myself, but we can handle it EZ
Updated! Version 0.3 adds a third level with a bunch of new stuff. Thanks again to @TheFoxyDragon for helping get this release over the line. Also happy new year!
Thank you for this gift for the start of the new year (For my timezone at least). Played the level and had a bunch of fun. The level was very action packed (my perfomance was well pushed in the largest room with some slowdown) and died a few times using weapons even, i will give props to whoever can do it without them but flying enemies are a bane to such feats. Found the brick and im sure i missed some possible secrets as i got locked into going back after a certain point, might try to explore more on a second try. Wish you a very good year and filled (ha) with more of this amazing game.
Okay, love the Biofuel idea, but I swear I’m bad at finding secrets in this game. Also went to the surface and got spooked despite there being nothing there to my knowledge and ran back down. Kinda wish I could get both 100+ Energy and Biofuel at the same time, ngl.
Though I did find a bug when it comes to the bio fuel storage, in that you can go over the required amount, and when you do the game doesn’t register that you filled the generator and softlocks you.
honestly super neat to tinker around with the PC in-game. I agree with other sentiments, I also just wish there was some kind of like test-level where you could experiment with things you’ve seen and just have fun with it. Maybe some kind of reward for beating the game when that comes about?
Performance is definitely a concern! I’m probably going to work on some LOD models for enemies and more graphical settings. Some kind of limit on the number of shell casings that can spawn is warranted when there are >30 automatic weapons firing at the same time.
Minimal mode is just gonna get really hard going forward, I guess! I did it, but not without some cheese.
That’s weird! It shouldn’t be possible to get over 100% biofuel under normal circumstances. On the off-chance this is a weird floating point error I’ll adjust the generator’s max to a bit below 100%.
I thought so, too! Very important to my vision that you can read e-mails in this game.
This is something I’ve been thinking about! Some kind of testing chamber / arena thing where you can spawn in groups of enemies and have them fight. Playing around with different enemy combinations and how they match up against each other is a lot of fun in the editor, one of those things that feels like it could be a game by itself. It’s on the ideas list for sure! No idea when I’ll get around to adding something like that though.
That sucks! I think once you get the engineering keycard in the pod bay you can unlock a barrier in the engineering bay, and after that is another barrier you need 30% energy to open. And I believe even if you crossed the mid-way point of no return in this level at 0%, there should be exactly enough to get you up to 30% if you get everything.
I think I just replied to you about this on itch, I was thinking of adding a map or a list of tasks or something, and also a screen telling you what key items you have since those are a thing now and it’s currently really easy to pick them up without noticing. The easiest thing would just be a DOOM 1993-style picture of a keycard that’s on the screen when you have one, but it would be better to have some reminder of where to use it too. I might try out a list of updating text objectives and some kind of status screen where you can check them.
Now that I think about it, all the key items should probably be a hold-use-key-to-collect rather than an instant pickup, to make it harder to miss what they are.
I’ve just finished the new update and oh wow. This game is starting to really shape up. The biofuel mechanic was really neat and I really liked the part where you had to use it to activate the machine that gives you access to the macro ability. I hope to see new and interesting mechanics in the future. I also feel like there is some potentional for some combining of mechanics further down the line. I am also happy to see some kind of a villain character as the plot of the game starts to get thicker. I as well appreciate the difficulty increase, it makes me think about encounters and how to best approach them, while still feeling powerful. This update has more than met my high hopes and expectations from months ago and I am excited for more.
Heading back to the level now that I’ve gotten some sleep, so I can mess around with Cheat Engine to see how having max biofuel looks with max energy and…
