Indulgences, Version 0.2 Out Now!

Finally got to play this game! For a first release, the quality is downright impressive! I like the pixel art style, it gives the game its own identity. The three characters are all pretty fun and charming, I like them a lot!

My biggest problem gameplay-wise is how hard it is to fatten Sophia up. Hazel and Rebecca went without a hitch, but Sophia’s poor capacity means I had to carefully plan what to give her, and doing so in the most optimal way I could find only made her gain 0.16kg a day, turning her side of the story into a massive grindfest.
I also didn’t really understand what caused the work minigame to stop? If this could be explained somewhere that’d be cool.

Actually, speaking of work, you said you were open to suggestions so why not make an older office lady that’d show you the rope for your job, giving the player a tutorial and explaining for people like me how the tetris minigame worked. Then maybe in future updates the player could also feed her? Idk, just throwing my ideas around lol.

I really like the last idea on here, about an older, almost “secretary” type character to give the player a rundown at the start of the game, and it gave me a few ideas ( apologies for the wall of text, but hopefully you’ll find a few useful things in here)

First of all, as much as I enjoy the game in its current state, I really like when weight gain games have some sort of thorough-line- instead of dropping in and making girls fat left and right, what if the MC has a genuine motive as well? (Besides being horny)

Our “tutorial character” could give us some rundown on the lore. What if WcDonald’s was just a new chain starting out? What if WcDonald’s was unsuccessful due to the notoriously good healthy lifestyle of the city’s inhabitants?

Maybe MC’s company might be part of WcDonald’s parent company, working on managing the restaurants, and they’re currently struggling, based on the franchise’s bout of poor performance.

Miss Tutorial Character could tell us all this, and suggest finding out how to get the city people to be more receptive to fast food and eat more (outside of office hours).

With that in mind, the objective of the game goes from fattening 4 or so characters to fattening the entire town. The average “city weight” could be raised each time you make a girl go up a weight stage (or gains weight in general), and could affect dialogue, etc. Maybe at routine intervals or certain city weight thresholds characters would comment on how they’re slightly fatter than their friends, or how they’re friends are getting fat too… something something bad habits rubbing off

Maybe occasionally after entering a location we’ll be treated to a text description describing the appearance of a random girl or scene the MC sees that signifies the current “city weight”. (Ie- some girls doing yoga vs a fat girl walking past with a burger in each hand). Silhouettes would be great for this but I understand that would be a lot of work

Higher city weights would naturally lead to pay raises at certain thresholds, as well as maybe being tied to Miss Tutorial’s weight stages (and special events with her? Who knows). Maybe with each city threshold passed, the MC could have new options to fatten the town (bigger menu items, new fattening locations, maybe more vending machines across town, all of which the MC would have to pay a fee for to earn, of course). Maybe you could choose to have more employees, and unlock a new character this way. Just a thought

But yeah, these are just some ideas I had. Most of them are very text based, but imo I think it could lead to more in depth gameplay. Either way, I’m looking forward to what the next update has in store

Pretty sure that will be the main character in the next update.

I really enjoyed the early build so far! The sprite work is gorgeous and I love the weight gain and stuffing stages you’ve done so far.

My feedback:
Maybe make it a bit easier to grind out the gaining? It can be a bit difficult to overcome early capacity restrictions in the NPCs.
I love the mini-game integration.
More MC involvement! I know she’s planned for next patch but the more the MC can get it on the gaining action the more fun it will be.

Seems like there aren’t really any outliers for stuff people want to see, I was just double checking that I wasn’t being a weirdo lol. I also know that a lot of people want to see everything, which makes sense but I mostly did this as a gauge for which parts I should center the growth around for the first few characters. Obviously every part of the girls will grow as they gain weight but proportionally some will be more predisposed to growth for some body parts over others.

Devblog:

The feeding system has been reworked to allow for strategizing and greater depth of gameplay. I’m working on making each girl a kind of puzzle where you need to figure out the optimal way to feed them to make them gain weight.

I’ve completed the design up to stage 3 for one of the new characters to be added in the next update (preview up on patreon)

Stage 4 sprites are completed for all of the girls (also up on patreon)

I am planning on making another character for this update, archetype to be determined. May run a poll here and on patreon to decide who it is.

I’m hard at work reworking the introduction and tutorial for the game, as many of you suggested. I am going to add in a tutorial menu option at home that explains what to do and what every variable does. I will also make the introduction longer, contextualizing why you are here and what your goals are. Currently plans are to make the girls be dorm-mates and make their university turn out to be one where grades are determined by weight gained, ability to eat food, general indulgence, etc.

The good news is with the current pace at which content is progressing I think I might be able to release 0.2 early, but this is still tbd.

I’ve decided to rework the story of the game quite a bit but I think this will end up giving me more freedom to explore more interesting scenarios in the future. Unfortunately this means that some previous content may need to be redone/removed as it no longer fits the world.

I want to make it so that the locations of the girls aren’t as static and they move around the world over time. This may be a big endeavor as it creates a lot of variables but also allows for a lot of cool events.

I also want to implement the university as a location that ties all the girls and the world together. I plan to make it have events such as weigh-ins, eating competitions, gym classes etc. All of this will give me opportunities to have all the girls together, creating lots of fun scenarios.

I have been messing around with animating the sprites. This would be way too time consuming to make as part of this update but might be something to look forward to in the future.

Stage 4 and 5 content is in the works and being implemented into the game

I’ve decided to only make one new character with this update as I will end up using the extra time saved to really focus on the player sprites

I plan on making the player able to gain weight in different body parts as determined by what you consume but I will have to see how hard this is to implement.

Definitely excited to see more of this game in the future. Out of all of the games that came out recently this is by far my favorite. I’m excited to see if you have an ETA for the update or if it’s more of a “it’ll release when it’s ready” sort of deal.

Great game! I love your descriptions of the characters, very vivid. And the art is fantastic. The idea to make the main character gain weight in player determined locations sounds awesome! Excited to see more in the future.

So quick update, I might have to postpone the release of 0.2 by about a week. I underestimated how much work would have to go into the player character so I will spend the next week fully implementing that. I’m hoping to release by Friday hopefully.

After a *month-long wait, V0.2 of Indulgences is finally here! Here’s everything that’s new in this update:


What’s New in V0.2?

Player Character Weight Gain

  • Stages 1-5 have been implemented.
  • Experience different body compositions based on the types of food consumed.
  • Encounter random events based on proportional gains when passing time at home.

Revamped Story & Intro

  • A completely new introduction and story to set the stage for future content.

Tutorial System

  • A new tutorial option is available at home to explain the game’s various functions.
  • Some new values and variables have been introduced, though they aren’t fully interactive yet.

New Weight Stages

  • Two additional weight stages have been added for each girl, expanding their transformations.

Reworked Feeding System

  • Feeding gameplay has been revamped for a more thoughtful, strategic experience.
