Is mere fat too limited?

Pretty sure you are misunderstanding.

The op is talking about other kinks like vore, inflation, weight-gain always seem to be part of the games here, and not “a character who happens to be fat.”

They are asking “Is it not enough that we can just play a fat character without them needing to gain weight, eat someone or be inflated as well?”

To be fair, all fifteen characters in my game have their own distinct personality beyond just being “The Fat One.” They kinda have to be. That being said, I kinda… like when they’re prideful of their weight to an exaggerated degree, even using their bodies as weapons against their foes.

But that’s something else I noticed. Most people… don’t really combine kinks with combat or action. It always kinda made me feel like an outlier. Then again, I kinda don’t see kinks as a sexual thing like others do. Mine are strictly paraphernilac.

That’s a good point. I think outside of stuff like vore, most fetish games don’t really apply the kinks to other aspects like combat and such. But I think is doesn’t really have to be, at the of the day is up to devs to decide in what capacity the kink should be present in their game.

And I haven’t played your game yet, I need to give a try someday.

Regarding garnering popularity, there’s two major factors that come into play: the size of your target audience and the pool of games you are competing against.

A standard non-fetish game can appeal to everyone that plays the genre in question, however it has to compete against a lot of games. This means that the polish and quality of the game has to be very high to succeed.

A fetish game that stacks a bunch of fetishes together will be one of the few games on the market to do so, however the target audience it captures will be very limited.

A game that specifically targets weight gain lands somewhere between these extremes. There’s a healthy audience for it and there just aren’t that many weight gain games out there. People are willing to accept a more unpolished and amateurish experience with the understanding that these games are passion projects and have limited resources devoted to them.

Games with fat characters and no other fetish elements have to compete with fat mods for non-fetish games. I think people here would be happy to play these types of games, but the art, gameplay, and writing have to be good enough to stand on their own. Just having fat characters isn’t enough to carry weak game elements.

That said, popularity isn’t that important if it’s just a fun hobbyist project.
