You haven’t taken any money, so no pressure just work on it when you can we all know you’ve got a lot going on!

After an unexpected emergency yesterday (related to getting kicked out) and having to take a break today due to nearly having a mental breakdown, plus the response which I have gotten from other forum users, I have decided to not publish another release date this time.

This is because another unexpected event keeps popping up every few days and typically consuming all of my free time for that day and sometimes requiring a day or two to recover mentally before heading back to work, as I am still living with my abusive mom, and just being in the same cramped apartment as her causes a lot of stress and anxiety due to PTSD. The only one willing to help me out is my dad, who is currently homeless, so, in the worst case scenario, I will not be able to work for a while.

I cannot reliably predict a release date in these conditions, as it’s extremely unstable at the moment, so all the release dates so far have been way off since I didn’t expect so many interruptions.

This does not mean development will be stopping, although it may slow down slightly without a firm release date. We should hopefully be going at around the same speed as before.

As a bit of an apology, I will let you all decide how development will go forward.

Development Poll

We can either release a demo, which will take extra time and effort in the long run, or we can aim for a more polished full release. If the full release is chosen, we will occasionally post some previews of what has been completed. Otherwise, we will focus primarily on getting a demo out quickly.

Thank you for your understanding. I hope we can get the game out soon.

Here’s a little peak at the other characters whose first stages haven’t been revealed yet.

Technically a very large game spoiler! Click here to view.

Tivali

Named after the cat of Egyptian queen Cleopatra, Tivali is rather spoiled and cold to the player at first, but perhaps both her body and heart will soften with lavish treats.

Goldie

(I apparently forgot to request the processed version of her first stage so ignore the gray background.)

We haven’t written too much about her at the moment but here is the pirate girl, Goldie, who we showed earlier.

Inari

Her design is not yet complete, as she is a character from another game we are releasing in the future (Witch’s Sanctuary, a 3D story game inspired by Disco Elysium) of which I am the writer and character designer, but I have been primarily focused on getting the programming side of Parallel Palates complete.

The amnesic reincarnation of an ancient goddess, or perhaps something else entirely?

Despite formerly being a goddess, she is rather clueless and clumsy, as well as lacking in common sense, but she makes up for it with… uhh… does she make up for it?

Looks good on the premise alone, wondering if there’ll be an unlimited/endless mode after the 7 day limit.

Thank you for your work @Krodmandoon.

Hello everyone, here’s our latest update on how development is going.

This plan isn’t quite complete with every feature yet but it’s a pretty good indicator for where we’re at.

So far, the concept for every item of the 12 planned for the full release is finished. Additionally, the concepts and art for all characters except for Inari are fully complete. We have also finished all 6 planned furniture concepts and have 3/6 models complete for them.

At the moment, I am pretty close to having a mental breakdown so I’m doing lighter work like UI design and not forcing myself to write code until I literally can’t read or write properly (that was not a fun time).

I would say we are about 60% of the way to completion. What remains is approximately…

  • ~60% Dialogue/Story
  • ~30% Programming
  • ~10% Art/UI

Anyways, I will continue working before the hallucinations from stress that keep appearing in the corner of my vision while writing this get worse.

Don’t hurt yourself, there’s no need to rush

please do take breaks from developing

Hey Dev, like the guy above me said, always take breaks to avoid burn out. We’d rather you relax than burn yourself out and permanently lose motivation to develop the game. Ive lost track how many games died because the dev got burned out.

I need the money. :3

I am currently working from a shared motel room surviving on chips and milk (no oven or stove) after getting kicked out of my previous home and getting sent on a 14 hour trip to my birthplace of Los Angeles, California across one thousand miles where, towards the end, I was constantly going in and out of consciousness every 15 seconds being unable to sleep because of how uncomfortable it was buried under my 3 plants. Fortunately, I was not the one driving.

I would like to get at least a couple hundred per month (I get only 30% of this. 40% is reserved for project funding and 30% goes to the artist) before I relax and work on projects that I like more.

I’m personally into more story-based or sandbox primarily-MC weight gain games (such as Voracious Echoes and Faehna Engine, two unreleased games which I occasionally work on when I’m not feeling like working on this) but we needed a quick way to get funding for our bigger projects so we came up with this game which is a bit lower in quality than our other projects but far faster to develop and still meets our quality standards.

As I can’t work normal jobs due to disabilities, this is really my only option, so I am in a rush in case things get worse.
