The Hedonist's Jewel (0.0.6r)

Sorry for the inactivity, lost interest for a while. New update, not much but there are now custom species along with a basic location system and an slight overhaul of the species selection passage setup.

is there a reason you’re making a huge dropdown list of species instead of letting the player come up with species names and their descriptors?

This is a very good idea, so I implemented it, but the reason I’m making a list of species is because I’m highkey considering implementing randomly generated NPCs at some point in the long run, aside from the primary story/shop related ones of course. They’d be interactive but in slightly different ways than the special NPCs. Kind of like if the animal villagers in Animal Crossing were procedurally generated but characters like Tom Nook and Isabelle were still premade.

Mind if I suggest an open furry alien species that would fit this project that could be a playable species in it?

It’s not guaranteed that I’ll implement it, but feel free to make any sort of species suggestions you want!

Also, I nearly forgot but I kind of need some opinions.

Here’s the current portrait style. See, I was planning on drawing everything by hand, but I struggle with the motivation for large drawing projects like making several emotion portraits for every character. I tried to make the portraits simple to lessen this, but I still really find myself disliking the idea of drawing this much. But I have a potential solution!

I’m currently working on a 3d model of Lucius, one of the NPCs in this game, in Blender. It’ll be intentionally simple, aside from the head at least. My idea is to make 3d models of every major NPC in the game, and use them for not just portraits, but also potentially full scene images during certain key moments in the story!
I figured this might also set the game apart a bit from other furry twine games, at least the ones on this site.
I actually have a similarly styled human head model made for an unrelated project, that I could use for eventual portraits in humanoid mode as well.
My only concern is whether people will like this change (even though there aren’t many 2d portraits at this point.) What are your thoughts?

  • Keep the 2D Style
  • Use 3D models as art!

The open alien species I spoken of that I thought could fit into this are Catrobis by Maddeku/Rattiesteps.

May I suggest also adding protogens?
