The Weighting Game - WIP

Alice will have new content and change up until the too be continued screen at the end. The screen will tell you (when you see it) that the content is finished for the update. If you have seen it there will be nothing new.

@Krodmandoon is right so often, it’s a wonder people don’t think he’s me in disguise. Or that I’m him. Or perhaps he can just read what laughingly passes for my mind :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, yes, I’m very unlikely indeed to use Patreon again in the future. It’s a bloody awful platform. When I restart work on the game, I think Ko-fi is probably the way forward. I won’t be putting out any more public updates until the game is finished, so wouldn’t be fair to ask people to support regularly. So I’m thinking along the lines of an image tipjar - both one-off images and characters from the game - which’ll hopefully fund the rest of the development. No doubt the Ko-fi stuff will get pirated too, but I care a lot less about an image that’s taken 30 minutes to create than I do about thousands of hours of work being stolen

I’m probably going to restart work on the game before the end of the year. Partly because I’m proud of what I’ve achieved so far and I’d like to finish it. Partly because so many people in the community seem to enjoy it and want to see the ending and partly as a two-fingered salute to the pirates who were all so sure I was just looking for an excuse to quit.

I’ve tried not to think about it over the past couple of months, but ideas do keep popping into my head and I’m planning on adding at least one more character to the story. No idea how long it’ll take me to finish as I’ll be working at my own pace rather than spending every spare minute I have trying to hit deadlines. TIme will tell…

@WagonMeat94 Speaking of time, the number of days elapsed doesn’t really matter in the game. I tried to make it so that you could play at your own speed. @Krodmandoon is right, once again. If you’ve seen the ‘to be continued’ screen then you’ve hit the end. If not, then keep playing.

Great to hear man, it did really suck to think we’d never get to see the ending. Hell, even after every update you left it on a cliff hanger, just waiting between those was tough enough :joy:

Anyway, whilst I can’t take moral high ground, as I’ve pirated plenty of games, just not yours which I supported early on, then intermittently on the updates - I will say I never felt bad about it after thinking the game was cancelled, because as I’ve said before, you went way beyond the initial scope and every new update feels like the equivalent effort of what others do for a whole game in the genre. It really is for me, the most enjoyable and to hear you intend to add more and potentially finish it is great to hear. And this time you can pace it, and release it exactly how you like, so hopefully you’ll be enjoying doing so more without the idea of piracy looming in your mind.

agreed, take as long ya need its worth the wait

I spent most of the last few days playing this game. It is absolutely incredible. Alice is <3 and all the individual shots, the constant weight gain, everything is so well done. The dialog changes in scenes, wanting to see how she’d react to her new weight at dinner, ordering more and more each time…just perfection. I see why you have such a massive following here.

Then I spent this evening reading through this thread and seeing that you put thousands of hours of work into this game just to have it priated and the motivation sapped, shit man. As someone who struggles with motivation I’d have done something similar. So while I know this is months late, I am sorry that happened to you. But if you ever do restart development, I will absolutely be a supporter. The community needs game developers like you, and your passion and will to make this game makes you one of the best. Amazing job Tigger.

You’re not, the game is designed to have Alice work against you in the beginning. After all she’s a fit young women who is concerned for her weight and self conscious. But obviously the more Alice eats and the less she works out the faster her gain will be. I would say unless you aren’t doing much with Alice most of the time, the game is probably paced normally, and just continue playing.

I can no longer call Alice but I can see her when going to the park , gym or work . Is that part of the game or a bug ?

This is a bug that was supposed to be fixed are you sure you’re playing the latest version from this thread (the first post here).

I got it on the pc google drive version 0.7 and the message was posted October '19

It’s possible either the Google drive version is not the same as the mega that is linked here (where the bug still exists) or perhaps the bug might of not been fixed as tiggertoo was in the middle of bug fixes when the piracy happened. I would try downloading the mega version and see if you still encounter the bug.

Unfortunately if that or using an earlier save don’t solve the issue you might have to wait. As this is not currently being worked on.

Mine too! Looking forward as ever!

The specific bug he’s describing sounds like it was fixed for 0.7b but not fixed for 0.7a.

Most of the bugs for 0.7b are either becca related or easily skipped dialogue about chocolate with alice.

This is almost certainly down to using an old version of the game (there are a few still floating about) and/or loading an old save file into the latest version.

Not being able to call Alice was a known bug in the test versions of 0.7, and although the current version (linked in the first post of the thread) does still have some bugs, I’m 99.9% sure that I fixed this one. It’s been downloaded thousands of times and I’m not aware of anyone else having this issue with the current version.

so how many hours of gameplay does it take to get past the first stage?
also, is it possible that im softlocked?

I haven’t heard of a soft lock ever in regards to progress. My guess is it’s related to how you’re playing. I’ve answered this type of question a few times let me know if it doesn’t work for you.

This is just a very basic idea and can be made more effective by adding in more things to be done daily. The easiest thing is to check your progress when you invite Alice over for dinner.

@Krodmandoon really should be on a salary with the amount of questions that he answers! Once again, his advice is good.

@sdf_asd The game is deliberately slow paced, especially at the start. And I tried to make it so that you could play at your own pace, which means it’s very difficult to say how many hours it takes to progress.

There aren’t any softlocks in the game as far as I’m aware. There are a few bugs, but they are mostly towards the end as that part of the game had been tested the least.

from yesterday i progressed until after she “breaks up” and we get back together, then past the point where she wants to not be on a diet again. im on day 125

how much further does content progress past this, or is this it?
