I think @namad and @Thatguyyounow summed it up perfectly. I would not enjoy if one of the existing main characters were to suddenly get pregnant, and it would make me lose interest in that character. If it is either a new character (which it doesn’t sound like you want to do) or a minor character, go for it.
That said, it feels like Janet already hits the pregnancy kick for anyone who is interested in that sort of thing. I don’t really see any reason it needs to be added for an additional character. It feels like that would make the story very pregnancy heavy, which would be somewhat of a turn off for people who aren’t into pregnancy like me.
Been thinking it over a bit more and i think ive hit on a way of making it very heavily telegraphed so it can be avoided… it’d also be quite a bit of a storyline branch which would add to replayability
I’m uncomfortable with pregnancy content, so I’d rather not have anymore added to the game. As mentioned before by others if it sprung up on a main character I would have to drop that charcters storyline.
I think Hannah might just be my favorite character in the game!!
So about Hannahs boobs…
They start off the biggest in the game, waaaay bigger than Alices.
Alices boobs really grow as the story continues and as she gets bigger.
Hannahs however, don’t grow that much. I’m very aware that she doesn’t gain as much weight as Alice does. But still, i feel like they don’t grow in the proportion that they should, considering she already had huge breasts when she was super skinny.
Any thoughts on this?
I’m very glad I asked for opinions on this. When I came up with the idea, I thought it would be a lot more popular than it seems to be I’m now almost certain that if I do include it, it’ll be either optional or very clearly telegraphed so it’s easy to avoid.
@ben.janssens352 different people gain in different ways. Alice’s boobs certainly got huge, Hannah’s less so. Good thing I didn’t model Hannah on a feedee girl I used to know. First time I met her she was plump but with tiny boobs. Met up again a few years later and she’d ballooned… everywhere except her chest
Hannah’s have grown a bit, though… and she may not have finished growing, of course…
I like this idea, and technically you’ve already got a branch between becca and janet in the game, if you’re worried about telegraphing the new pregnant content, you could always add the information about the branching path to the hints system.
In case some people didn’t want to be spoiled and some people did?
But Janet aint a love interest so she is more of the tip of the iceberg you get of pregnancy content
Adding a new character would certainly be the best option seeing how evenly split it is(that is if the dev decides on going for it)
As someone said “hardest choices require the strongest wills” ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@namad Damn, that’s a good idea. Why didn’t I think of adding the warning to the hints system!
@hahequ as I said before, there are no plans at this point to add any more characters. There are already far more characters in the game than I originally planned, and if I add more, that simply increases the workload even more and I’d like to get the game finished sometime this decade
I’m a fan of pregnant content. With that said, while I wouldn’t object to one of the existing characters getting pregnant, I would prefer if it was a new character. I’m already invested in seeing the existing characters get fat, so adding in a pregnancy throws things for a loop.
If one of the characters were to get pregnant, I would go with Lacy. Becca’s story line has had her having no luck with guys since gaining, so it wouldn’t make sense for her to get pregnant. Hannah is outgoing enough that I could see her getting pregnant by accident. The only problem being she’s so obsessed with the MC, I can’t see her being with anyone else, unless the MC is the one that gets her pregnant but that would just complicate the MC’s relationship with Alice. That just leave’s Lacy, who is both outgoing and not romantically linked to MC. Lacy getting pregnant, would both be the least complicated and make the most sense out of the three.
I really am glad I asked about this before simply adding it. I figured more pregnancy would be a very popular move. Looks as though - not for the first time - I was wrong!
I do have ideas for additional characters, but their concepts at present feel as though they’d be shoehorned in for the sake of it, rather than a natural addition to the game, so unless I have a sudden brainwave, I can’t see any more characters being added at this point.
So, any new pregnancy content would be for one of the existing characters. Given that so many people (a small majority as I type this) don’t want more pregnancy, I’ll either not add it at all, or make it an avoidable (and telegraphed as such) option, so those who enjoy it can do so, and those who don’t can easily skip that part of the storyline completely.
And now… back to writing yet another scene for the new girl
I must admit I was kind of surprised by the results of this poll too. Though my thoughts were more along the lines of the practicality of the 270 odd days that you’d have to play though from conception to birth, unless the character in question would retrospectively have been pregnant before the game started - which would add it’s own challenges. I remain curious about how you might have handled this.
Let’s just say I would be ‘liberal’ with the timescale. After all, even though I set out to make my game semi-realistic, the characters still gain a lot faster than they would in real life So, it follows on that a pregnant character would grow faster than in real life as well.
The idea actually came to me when I was at work. One of the girls there is currently about seven months pregnant and went from looking as though she’d simply put a few pounds on her stomach to looking absolutely enormous almost overnight. I figured that if a real person can transform that quickly then a fictional character in a game certain can…
Definitely won’t be any sort of open alpha again, I’m afraid. I’ve learned from very painful experience just what an utter nightmare that is. I’d get multiple (sometimes dozens) reports of the same bug, often with no other information to go on, making tracing and fixing a very very laborious task.
The current method of just a few testers works so much better, especially since they did such an excellent job with 0.8.
Something you could do, if you went the new character route, to differentiate from Janet, is have the character intentionally gain weight. Janet’s weight gain during her pregnancy is unintentional and mainly caused by her boyfriend. The new character could have a thing for huge pregnant bellies so is purposely gaining weight to maximize the size her belly will get.
You could make the character MC’s sister. A love of big bellies could just run in the family and it’s not unheard of for multiple people in a family to be pregnant at the same time, so no one should think twice that MC and Alice both have a pregnant sister at the same time. Additionally, adding another sibling should avoid any feelings of shoehorning a character in.
I think the the ability to start a family with Alice would be very fitting. My opinion is that adding pregnancy to existing character/s, but making it easy for those not interested to avoid would be the best option. Maybe even Hannah. Seems like with how her route goes, she’d warm up to the idea if it was for MC.
