Sarah: Sigh, you’ll have to excuse the skirt. It does that. A lot…
Ooh, so that’s Sarah… quite the wardrobe malfunction she’s got going there.
Thought for a feature, though obviously idk if it would be more work than you’re willing to put in: more options with your phone, so you can go back and look through pictures you’ve received?
Even if he wanted to, what would he buy? The worldwide supply of nvidia GPUs is essentially non-existent right now due to bitcoin and scalping and high demand and low supply etc (daz doesn’t work with amd).
I always play VN’s with “skip previously read dialogue” enabled. However in this game, even when skipping all previously read dialogue, you actually skip dialogue very little.
@jcc309 To be fair, most images don’t take anything like that amount of time to render.
@Mbauto I make little to no money on this and probably 80% of what I have made has gone on upgrading my PC. It’s less a question of buying more equipment than it is of how much more time I can put into writing, setting images up/testing etc. The only realistic way I could do more is to quit my day job and I am absolutely not going to do that.
@namad is quite correct, unfortunately. One of the upgrades to my PC was an RTX 2080 Super. I bought this about 8 months ago and paid about £650. If I wanted to buy one today, it would cost me double that.
@AlexKay so… you’re the one who sabotaged her skirt???
@JoeyVee there will almost certainly be a phone gallery in the next version. I’m working on that at the moment.
Not to add to the pile of rendering, but I had a “When you see it” moment when going up to the bedroom near the end of the Invite Alice to Home event. At her largest size, the first bedroom picture has floating hair and pants in the background to the left of the MC.
Hah, spooky ghost knickers!
Honestly, that sort of thing happens far too often. Yet another of Daz Studio’s annoying little glitches. Delete a character from a scene and some of the clothing and/or hair is left behind…
I’ll get that one fixed for next time Thanks!
Would it not be worth rendering out versions of some of your commonly used camera angles of scene backgrounds which out any characters in the scene?
Then when something like this occurs you can simple use image editing software to copy the empty section of background over the top of any floating clothes/ glitches. Rather than spend a longer amount of time re-rendering the entire scene, populated with character models.
It obviously wouldn’t be a solution to all such issues but would in all likely hood save you some time in cases like this.
It’d be a great idea… if I didn’t alter the camera angle (and often the pose too) for every iteration of a given scene.
So, if an image does have an error in it, the only real solution is to re-render it. Fortunately, I save every individual scene, so it’s simply a matter of loading it in, tweaking it and adding it to the render queue.
Fair enough, but with re-rendering a scene with an error like this one after you know its gone wrong, could you not still cut down on you time re-rendering it by first removing all characters from the saved version just for the re render?
That wouldn’t work. Every image in my game is a complete render, not just sprites placed over a background. It takes more time to do an image this way, of course, but I think the trade off in time is well worth it for the flexibility it gives me with poses, camera angles etc.
Will you go in to the game jam with this? I am sure this game will win, just played demo and your game is beatiful, that wip thread must be amazing
I’m glad you like the game, but it’s not really suitable for entry in the next game jam.
I believe games that enter have to be produced inside a couple of weeks, and my game has taken almost 18 months so far and still isn’t finished
I was definitely confused after a moment when Alice broke up with main character.
I even tried every possible answer and still she’s not answering my phone.
Looks like a lot of things have been added/improved in 0.6, i don’t even even what i should do right now.
Don’t worry, unless you were actively driving Alice away (in which case: mission accomplished!) a friend will deal you a lifeline soon enough.
As @AlexKay says, assuming you didn’t get the game over screen (which you obviously didn’t or you wouldn’t be able to carry on playing), if you carry on for a few more days of gametime, things will start to happen.
There are a heck of a lot of new additions in 0.6. 0.7 won’t be quite as large, but is still shaping up to be a biggie. Currently around 200 images (there’s another new scene - yeah, I’m a glutton for punishment), the phone gallery will almost certainly be there, as will an optional hint system and (if I can manage it) a visual clue as to what sort of mood Alice is in.
I’ve been beavering away on all the above stuff, but had a small break earlier to produce an image of all the current characters in glorious 4K. Or it would be in 4K, but the file size is too big to post here, so I’ll have to stick it on Patreon instead
Anyway, for those who’ve been asking about the characters, here are most of them as they appear at the start of 0.6.
Ooh, it’s the cast line-up for that hit new reality show “The Weighting Game”
In tonights thrilling episode… Alice and Sarah are locked in a room together with only one extra large pizza (plus sides, garlic bread, dip, dessert and drinks) between them. Will they share… or will it be a fight to the death over who gets the last slice?
