Una nueva vida - A WG rpg game (Version 0.2.0 available now)

Thanks to Raz0r and because i was getting motivated, i was able to finally make the new update and it’s a lot. I’ll put a more condensed and detailed changelog in the main post, but to put it simply, i made a lot of changes and fixes, but the game still only has the first chapter. After releasing the 0.1.0 version, i realized i made a lot of mistakes in many areas: some places look weird due to bad use of the assets, grammatical errors (that was embarassing) and the story was not really consistent and lack proper characterization for the main cast.

In terms of the story and script, the main path is mostly the same, but most of the characters attitudes and personalities were adjusted or changed to better fit the story, specially with Reiko and Xiera. Some characters were given new sprites also.

The level system?. “f*** levels.” The characters now don’t level up nor gain xp, instead the have now a skill tree system, which allows them to unlock new skills or give stats increases. Some skills were changed or removed to better fit this new style and both our main heroes and enemies stats have been adjusted. The balance part has been a little tricky, so i would like to hear your opinions on it.

Images and cutscenes have been added thanks to Raz0rm2nded. They will be the artist for my game and more scenes and stuff will be added in the future, however the sprites and character designs are still done by me.

There is more to explain but i’ll put it in the changelog. I’ll be translating the game to english while providing bugfixes and such. Thanks and enjoy.

Hi, I have a question, how can I activate vore mode in the game, just out of curiosity please?

It is in the same way since the previous version.

After finishing Xiera’s quest. Checking the machine near Reiko’s bed in the lab will allow you to use debug functions and one of them is giving Reiko the devour skill. I haven’t changed how the skill works.

Im curious if it has an English translation yet?

I’m literally working on it right now. I’m trying to finish the translation as soon as possible and luckily it isn’t as hard i thought it would be. I hope i can mantain or at least not lose meanings of the words or other stuff during the translation.

I have a dumb question, but maybe I didn’t see the option cause I do not speak spanish very well, but how do you save?
The save option does not display in the start menu, and I am not sure how to save then…
Is it a bug, or is there a specific place that allows you to save?

“Guardar” means save in spanish. You can save anywhere.

It’s been very quiet here for a while, but I want to say (well, write in this case) that I’m still working on the game. I can’t set an specific deadline yet for when the next update will be released, but I’ll make sure that it won’t be later than July.

Also, I want to be transparent on some stuff. I originally wanted to write this when the next update would come out, but I decided to share some thoughts now that i have the chance:

To be honest, the recent events on this site made me very hesistant about working on the game. I was, in fact, quite baffled and shocked of the reactions and reply of some people, to the point that I was genuinly thinking on leaving and abandoning the project all together and cut all ties to any fetish sites and the like. The many issues and troubles I’ve had with developing the game was also really getting on my head and seeing other projects releasing updates faster and with better content was making me depressed.

But, the situation improved and after many talks with Raz0rm2nded, I decided to keep working on the game because I don’t want all that effort going to waste. I was giving myself unrealistic expectations and short-term goals, while in reality, this project is for fun and to mostly learn. I’m not aiming to make a AAA game, I just want to make something that is fun to play and enjoy.

An small sneak peek for the next part:

See you soon, I promise.

(Now, back to the cave).

Don’t let haters and doomers stop you from working on a game for fun. Long as you learn something, then its worth while, after all, can’t learn something without trying, even if it doesn’t meet the approval of people who will never support your game. Yes such people exist regrettably, and how many promising games due to them opposing devs like you, plus each dev works at their own pace, some may take 1-3 years to release an update.

I have yet to see a fetish game become an AAA game unless proven otherwise so don’t feel bad or bogged down by unrealistic expectations. Take whatever time you need to avoid burnout! Its another thing that also kills games in development so its important for devs to take breaks.

But I can say that i’m getting close to finish this next update. So, i want to share some stuff.

First, Raz0r has been doing some more artworks for scenes and they’ve been quite good. The difference between previous works is noticeable and is commendable. To give some examples the they’ve doing:

They are still learning in drawing fat characters in this style, since Raz0r is more on pixelart than this, but so far is good, both for the project and for the experience that it provides to them. They also made and update some of the portraits used for dialogue.

Another point that i’m focusing on the update is the combat. Currently, I don’t feel that is good and the enemies don’t have proper attack patterns, also, I thought for a long time that the luck stat in rpg maker affects crit rate (but no, it affects ¿ailments?).

The update will also contain the first part of the first “interlude” section of the story, where we meet our next teammate for the adventure. Without anything else to say, I’ll see you soon.

Hi, as Kuri said, i’m working as the artist for this game. I already did some work on this game, but now i’m actively doing art for it and i wanted to share this.

While i did draw fat characters before, i’ve never did something of this size and i’m more on the side of pixel-art. This image is for one of the sidequest scenes that Kuri made in the game and we want to add more stuff like this (and bigger, fatter characters).

Since i was not very experienced at the time, the previous images in the game are vastly different to how i draw now, so Kuri and I were talking about updating the previous images.

In any case, thanks for reading and i hope can provide more and better for this game.

This place looks quite dark…

I have to say, the site has been quite active the last weeks with new games and updates and hopefully everything improves from now on. But first, let’s talk about the
game and how development will go from now on.

Long explanation:

Summary

The game was taking too long to translate, since i didn’t account for the amount of dialogue and stuff that i was adding to it. I’ve tried to translate it to english 3 times. The first time was manually, the second with the multi-language plugin and the third time was with Translator++. The plugin and translator are very good, but it was giving me some troubles (the plugin sometimes didn’t pick some words and the translator doesn’t check for the text of the plugins and the AI function to translate is a paid feature). I was getting ahead of myself, thinking that I could add any kind of shit to it and made it work, but i’m just one person and the scope of the game grew too big.

I shouldn’t have made the game in spanish to begin with, specially for people like in this forum that is mostly english-speaking. But when I started developing the game, I didn’t plan on releasing it for everyone, it was a game for fun and for me to learn and it has been a fun experience, but the fact that I was still struggling with some parts was frustrating and depressing. All the time I spent translating I didn’t make any progress on the game while seeing other game and their devs making big leaps.

Then it happen the whole fiasco with the AI-content games and that game with stolen images that cause the entire site to go wild. But the thing that did shocked was with another game that was also deleted due to its contents. I said before that the reactions of the people in those topics were making feel unease and worried about doing fetish content, to the point of dropping the game entirely and leave everything behind. However, I still wanted to make a game and decided to talk with my friends and Raz0rm2nded, who was also having diffculties with their own projects.

At the end, I had to make a choice, either I still continue to translate the game, which will probably go nowhere and slow down the development even further or just scrap the translation and keep working, I choose the latter.

I know is sad, upsetting and not everyone knows or is willing to learn spanish, but if I kept going with the translation, then my game will never be finished and I’m really sorry for it. I’m too naive and stupid and I should have seen this coming but i got obsessed with the idea of “making the best game ever like SB or Axugaem”, or a “fucking AAA game”. I’m such a fool.

But now, Is time to keep moving forward and stop self-pitying. I learned my lesson (I hope) and the development on Una nueva vida is resumed. There won’t be a translation of the game, at least not until its finished and even then it’s debatable if I ever work on it. If I ever make another game, it will be on english.

Short explanation:

Summary

Translation is cancelled for the time being. Development is resumed.

Since the last update, I’ve made quite a few changes to the game that I’ll explain more in the changelog when it gets released. Also, since Raz0r is now actively working with me on this game, I want to add more images and scenes since the fetish part is quite lacking for the moment.

Technically, the update is finished, but I need to adress some of the dialogue errors (Translator++ has helped me in that area) and adjust some of the new enemies added. Probably around September 2 I’ll release the update. Thanks for reading and see you soon.
