Heeyy everyone! I’m back to share some good news about this project! If everything goes well, I will be sharing the next update via itchio this week!
I’m currently fixing bugs and adding some extra stuff… just making sure nothing like the “Restart” button bug happens again haha. A much needed precaution with all the heavy changes the prototype has received after all this time! Enough to make the jump from a mere prototype update (0.0.3) to an alpha release! (0.1.0). It would be a little difficult to showcase it all, I’ll begin by showing how to start a new run.
Custom names for your character! A new level layout! Retouched races and weight gain mechanics! New and improved items, actions (attacks) and spells! Improved in-game lighting and textures! New on-map interactions! More NPCs! All actions/spells/items descriptions are shown on mouse hover! And more!
Most importantly of all I believe… There’s now support for multiple languages!
I know it’s been a long while since the last time I posted about this project.. now that the heavy work is almost done I can speak a bit more of what’s been going on behind scenes. When I first started working on this project I knew very little about Godot and how to properly work with it, so I really just did what I could.
I learnt a lot during this process, but eventually the code proved difficult to work with for the direction I wanted to take with this project so, ultimately, I took the decision to pause development and redo things from the ground up now that I have a more solid understanding of this game engine.
Fixing the prototype took way longer than I anticipated, but I’m glad soon I’ll finally have something new to show! Hopefully it’ll be worth the wait :^)
It sure has been a long while since I first released this game’s prototype, a lot has happened ever since but I can finally share the new update on itchio! You can go check it out!
This build is still a very short experience consisting of a single level and very few races to play with, it is better to consider this update a “fresh new start” for this project, I hope you enjoy the update and that no game breaking shows up again haha.
I didn’t play in prototype, but this current version already looks enjoyable for me. I played only as Kobold so far and it feels like all stats, item drop rates, damage and everything else balanced correctly. I would say it feels like game mechanics has been finished and everything what left is just to add more content. Thank you very much for this project
Very fun! The layout’s just complex enough to feel like a real labyrinth, but simple enough to not get lost running around in circles!
Artstyle is adorable as usual, and the characters are pretty fun to chatter with. If there’s one pipe dream I’ve got, it’d be to see enemies/traps that inflict temporary weight to throw you off your game in a fun way.
Love the progress so far, I had fun checking it out. The dungeon feels more fleshed out with more secrets and I love the new battle music. Can’t wait to what more you have planned for the future!
This is an immense step up from the last prototype, it just looks better and there’s more to do. More spells is nice and the mp function is nice. My only gripe is that the Louie class/race has an entirely useless skill due to blast (15MP) dealing the same damage as fireball(5MP) but costing more and not dealing a dot. Other than that, twas really fun
It looks amazing, but, man, it’s INCREDIBLY hard to feel like I’m making progress. Every enemy has a way to heal HP and every action reduces satiety, so… yeah. It really should be one or the other, I almost got locked at the first enemy and had to run. I think either the Satiety cost of attacks needs to be lowered, or food gives more satiety in general? Or just give more food out in general.
I’d say its okay. You already get a good deal of food once you start to gain momentum. It only becomes a bigger problem if you are bigger, which will enforce heavier moves. It encourages some more management, and even if enemies can heal, they usually will not out heal you. They’re moreso tanky than anything at the late stage.
That’s 100% fair, but it’s not about the outhealing, it’s about running out of stamina at the start, I suppose. With the way the game goes, it would definitely benefit from some kind of shop or something.
Either you’re running 0.0.2 or you’re having some absolutely abysmal luck, it shouldn’t require more than a couple basic attacks on that first enemy in 0.1.0, which you have more than enough STY for.
I love the game so far!!! I would also love to see vore be a part of it in some way, maybe if the character gets too hungry or keeps themselves stuffed for too long makes them a “glutton” with the capability of voring enemies
