Version 0.04.5 is here!
Like with prior updates, here are the specific details regarding the content that’s been added in this update!
- Maeve’s story chapters have been added to the game! She has different endings and epilogue scenes, as well as her own set of Gallery rewards!
Unlocking Maeve
Maeve’s chapters are not available from the start, you can meet her after you’ve completed the first chapter for Donna and Natalie, each.
Once you get the ability to go out on your own, you will see an option to explore a bit and encounter a crowd, if you choose to go home instead, you will begin Maeve’s story.
Maeve is great!
I think there might be an issue with the ending variables for the “game dev route,” where it seems like she shows up in the opposite of the outfit one might expect given her choices. I suspect it’s because there’s a point where “$ maeve_dialog = 3” or “$ maeve_dialog = 4” are set that appear to be flipped.
Alright I just made it through everything! Here are my notes:
Pros:
- I felt like it was better work with using character weight this time! I felt like you did a really good job working that into the dialogue and interactions this update.
- I know sometimes it can be hard to make characters of different body shapes, but I really thought you did a good job of making Maeve feel like a completely different render than the other characters we have seen so far.
- I really enjoyed the minor slob/messiness in this one. It is something that is hard to work well into games, but I thought you did a really good job of incorporating it and it helped make Maeve feel like she had unique characteristics
Feedback:
- The first interaction called Maeve chubby a bunch, but the renderings seemed thinner than that to me. It just felt a little off between the dialogue/internal thoughts and what I was seeing
- There seemed to be a couple of instances of weird dialogue like it got messed up
- Finding an unopened box of brownies in the pantry but having to go to the store for them
- Getting dip multiple times
- I think the panels scenes are switched up depending on whether I say she should do it or not
- I can’t seem to unlock image 10 even though I’ve played through all routes?
Overall I thought this was another really good update. Even though Maeve isn’t quite my normal cup of tea as a character (either looks wise or personality), I still got a lot out of this from the messy aspects to the unique renders.
The download link seems to be empty
I just patched this in a new build with some hotfixes thanks to all of your feedback!
I also addressed the issue with Gallery Item 10 not unlocking for some people, it turns out the variables weren’t persistent so the trigger for the unlock wouldn’t work unless you did all three endings back to back in one save file/playthrough. If you restarted or reloaded the other ending triggers wouldn’t have been met so it wouldn’t unlock the final album reward, this has been fixed and should work now.
The dialogue for some instances where you get up multiple times in the story to get dip as well as getting brownies from your pantry for Maeve as well as going to the store have also been adjusted, these lines should’ve only come up if the player was above a certain weight, rather than showing both “versions” of the events. Fit/Slim player characters would’ve seen the dialogue as normal.
Thank you all as always for the feedback!
They should be up in a few minutes, I’m changing out the builds to address some bugs that were found, you just happened to click the link while the old versions were removed and the new versions are still uploading, sorry about that!
Great game, definitely feels like D.I.E.T. but i like that the stories feel as if they could be concurrent.
I’d like it if that Locked images mentioned the choice you had to make to unlock them.
Be cool if there was a mirror scene to see the PC state of weight.
While the D.I.E.T. influence is clear, I have to say I much prefer the writing in this game. The characters feel so much more like they have their own lives and personalities instead of just filling archetypes and plot points.
I haven’t played the very latest build, but I do agree that the narration gets a bit overly fetishy early in Maeve’s story. One other thought is that the cookie that gets stuck to her is unfortunately a bit flesh-colored, looking a bit like a giant zit at first glance haha.
Great game! I actually love diet and this game definetly scratches the same itch. Is there a guide or something for this game? I’ve done two girls and it looks like I’m missing one or two pictures from the gallery.
Thank you for the feedback! Could you elaborate a bit on which narration? Always trying to find the balance
For sure!
(Blurred in case anyone wants to avoid seeing spoilers.)
“The only thing that isn’t familiar is the fact that the girl standing in front of you has clearly put on a few from the last time you saw her.”
“Her tummy is more exposed now, the pudge having rolled up her t shirt, and her jeans look like mighty uncomfortable on her thighs.” - these lines feel like a bit much given she isn’t that big looking in the picture, especially since it sits right next to a few other narrator thoughts about her weight. Part of the issue might just be that seeing them back to back they feel a bit repetitive. Since the player’s only seen her once before a this point, it might be a good idea to make them a little less certain that she’s put on weight imho.
“She sits up, and you notice her surreptitiously tugging up her jeans to prevent them slipping down her rear.”
“Up close, it seems most of the weight has ended up there, and without her adjustment, you’d have probably seen more of the top of her backside than she’d be comfortable with. Maeve heads over to the boxes and opens both of them, taking a plate from a nearby stack.” - This is another case where, in my opinion, stacking the two lines back to back comes off as a bit much and makes it sound like the player’s looking at her through a magnifying glass.
It’s nothing huge, but the way both of those happen on the first date pretty close to each other feels a bit like it goes past “player character is horny” (totally understandable!) and into almost a feeling of detached observation.
That’s super specific - thank you! I can see that perspective for sure. I think, for Maeve, when we envisioned her as starting chubby (in contrast with the other girls) that unintentionally made the later gains less stark. Will keep in mind for future girls
The Maeve story is good enough to almost push Belle out as my favourite! Great update!
An amazing game. I think it is the best available. I have a suggestion to make:
I think it would be awesome if had an storyline or a new character that had a possible “mutual gain” during the line not like both gaining individually. Like depending of the choices and the impacts of your chooses or would you gain weight or the character or both. Like the influence of each other depending of some choices over the story.
How does one unlock belle image 14 of 14?
I actually don’t think the problem is the later gains being less stark! I think those work just fine. I think the part that feels a little off is that those passages are very strongly worded, but the renders don’t feel much bigger and the main character hasn’t seen much of Maeve. So it is hard to reconcile such strongly worded thoughts. If Maeve was very noticeably bigger it would make sense, or if the main character had seen a lot of Maeve and would notice smaller changes more. But as is, it just feels a little over the top.
Yeah, this is a great way of explaining it. For lack of a better word, it makes the player character come off as a bit judgmental right off the bat.
