Hi, might be a stupid question but does anyone know of hosting platforms to post content? I saw some appeal for stuff like qbittorrent for straight peer to peer, but overall with the issue is finding a way to post content that doesn’t involve a bunch of sketchy ads? I want to post some simple twine games to start but worry about p2p with the risk of the connection getting hacked. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Post to itch.io. There was never a porn ban, just people getting scared over what I would personally consider to be just a small interruption for most NSFW games. NSFW content is a massive portion of their site income. They aren’t going to just throw it out.
You’re still deindexed (NOT banned) IF you specifically make a paid NSFW game. This means you won’t pop up in search results. There might also be complications with payment processors.
If your game is not paid, you’re completely fine. There is no change at all. They already reindexed free NSFW games.
You can read for yourself here:
Or if you’re unsure on what’s actually banned:
Thanks for the clarity, and all my content is always free so good news there then. Thanks a bunch! :>
For what it’s worth, the update on July 31st seems to suggest that if your game is free but it accepts donations it will still be delisted. I know a bunch of my games don’t show up when people search for them.

I’m sorry that happened to you, hopefully the situation doesn’t remain this way for too long ![]()
At this point, I’ll just post across platforms to ensure if anything gets nuked there’ll be backups. Thank you for the heads up.
Yes, it is pretty unfortunate so I would personally recommend using Patreon for taking tips and donations instead.
I have a tip tier that people just subscribe to for a minimum of $3 (setting custom amounts is possible) and then immediately cancel but most of my income is from nice people who decide they want to support my work long term.
Although a lot of them said they just wanted to feed me in a poll I had a while ago… It was supposed to be a joke answer…
Patreon also has a bunch of other useful features and can be used as game file hosting if ever needed.
I’ve got a SubscribeStar.
I should really finish up my Patreon setup. It just feels funky given how infrequently I upload stuff.
Update: I finished setting up Patreon. “Please submit a photo of yourself and a photo of a government-issued ID to continue using Patreon. After February 12, 2026 your page will be suspended until you provide this information.” :\
Oh! Okay, if Patreon has file hosting there’s luck then. Tysm :>
Lol yeah, I bit the bullet on that one. The surveillance tracking is getting wacky tbh :<
Every platform I’ve used which relates to money in any way has asked for a picture of my government ID. It’s unfortunate, but this is just how the world is now. You wouldn’t believe how many times I had to get my government ID checked just to set up a business bank account and split profits with my coworker… (I think it was about 3.)
They throw out your information after 3 months, I believe, so it’s fairly unlikely that your information will get leaked long term at least.
EDIT: By suspend, they just mean unpublished, not deleted. You’re free to verify at any time if I remember correctly.
EDIT 2: Apparently, this isn’t a Patreon issue. This is yet another payment processor issue. Same reason itch.io had to do the takedown if I remember correctly.
EDIT 3:
You’ve shared lots of ideas for how we can prioritize inclusivity throughout this process. With that in mind, we’ve developed a list of alternative (non-government-issued) IDs we accept. If you do not have a government-issued ID, you are eligible to use alternative IDs.
For the moment, Patreon works, but in the event that itch.io entirely bans adult content due to pressure from payment processors, Patreon won’t have much choice but to follow suit even if they can resist a bit longer - both of them rely largely on Paypal and Stripe for their transaction processing, and if the hammer falls neither of them really has a fully viable alternative.
I really need people to understand that this is absolutely never going to happen in a million years…
The absolute worst they could do happened already. It’s already over. Payment processing for NSFW games is slowly returning to itch.io already and they are looking into alternative payment processors as well for cases where they absolutely cannot negotiate a deal.
These are all businesses. Businesses care about one thing, and that is profit. They aren’t going to do any more than they are absolutely required to do if it means a reduction in profit. itch.io is basically THE adult game site. Giving that up would be suicide. The deindexing and suspension of payments was the absolute most extreme action they would ever take on this.
I don’t know what drama sloptuber who doesn’t know a thing about how the economy works is telling people that things are going to get worse for views, but it’s not real. They say that because it gets them clicks and promotion in the algorithm, and like any other business, they’re doing what makes them the most profit, even at a detriment to society.
Investigate for yourself what is taking place.
itch.io is REMOVING restrictions on NSFW content, NOT increasing them, and looking for alternative solutions to the payment processing issue. Anyone who says otherwise is either lying to you or doesn’t understand what they’re talking about.
I am aware of what Itch is doing (and what it’s not doing; the “content warning system” that would be required for NSFW pages to be re-indexed once it rolls out, and any search re-indexing for paid titles, have completely failed to materialize half a year on). I am also speaking as someone who’s had to de-monetize their titles on Itch in order for people to be able to find them via search, and someone who’s been monitoring Itch’s own statements and actions, not some Twitter drama addict. What’s more important than what Itch is doing is why they’re doing it.
Obviously Itch themselves don’t want to get rid of NSFW content, but when their payment processors threaten to terminate their relationships, they have no choice but to comply. And let’s be clear about this: the payment processors absolutely do not want to deal with adult content. Hell, Stripe’s terms, as relayed by itch, ban “content designed for sexual gratification” altogether - a reason why payments via Stripe still can’t be accepted by Itch for adult content and a mandate open to incredibly broad interpretation at Stripe’s discretion. Paypal, historically, has been far worse about this over the years, not better. Permanently disabling payments on NSFW titles isn’t a solution either; it doesn’t completely deflect from payment processors refusing to work with them because they’re still hosting that content, it drives away both creators who rely on payments for their work and the customers who shop for it, and ‘borderline’ content gets caught in the crossfire.
This is not Itch’s choice to make; they are at the mercy of Paypal and Stripe, because those are the only major payment processors that are willing to work with them at scale. If a viable alternative had presented itself in the six months since this mess started, there wouldn’t be radio silence on the matter. And despite what some fervent enthusiasts claim, enabling crypto-based payments is not a serious consideration, even as a secondary method.
Paypal and Stripe will not increase their leniency on adult content as time goes on; if anything, increased pressure from banks and a US government that’s given into pseudo-religious zealotry are only going to speed up how quickly the noose tightens. Unless an adult-friendly payment processor capable of handling large volumes of transactions at low rates across the globe just appears out of thin air, it’s not a matter of if, but when.
I do not want to turn this into an argument so I will not reply further but there are several outright false claims made here that I would at least like to correct.
The quote is taken wildly out of context. You can see the full quote below:
We spoke with Stripe yesterday about their content policies. They confirmed that they will not be able to support adult content that fits the following definition: “content designed for sexual gratification.”
This very clearly refers to the payment processing itself, not the platform. They did not ever mention a ban, only that they cannot support, or in other words, provide their services to, developers whose content is designed for sexual gratification.
You also omitted the full statement that they made directly under that:
Stripe asked us to pass along the following message to our users:
Stripe is currently unable to support sexually explicit content due to restrictions placed on them by their banking partners, despite card networks generally supporting adult content (with the appropriate registrations). Stripe has indicated that they hope to be able to support adult content in the future.
Again, they are a business whose purpose is to generate profit. NSFW content generates a whole lot of profit. They are outright saying that they hope to be able to support it in the future. It doesn’t get much more blatant than that.
itch.io has publicly stated their plans for this:
We are in the process of talking with other payment partners to accept card payments that Stripe is unable to process.
I also directly stated that was their position in the previous post and never said anything about permanently disabling payments because I view that possibility as absurd.
There is no chance that they won’t find a single payment processor who is willing to work with one of the largest game stores on the internet. At worst, maybe they’ll take a 30% cut out of your profits, but hey, 30% is the industry standard. Steam developers have to deal with that all the time.
They have openly stated, in the exact same post you quoted, that they are already in the process of talking with other payment partners to accept card payments. That’s not radio silence.
Business deals take a long time, especially when negotiating the best terms. I don’t blame them for the wait, despite my usual skepticism towards businesses.
Anyways, as I said, I don’t want to start random drama on the forum. I have games to develop. I just wanted to cut the paranoia that people are feeling as if this is just the beginning. It’s not the beginning. It has been going on for quite a while. We hit the climax and it’s all settling down from there.
I will be muting this thread so I don’t get tempted to reply again. We may have a difference in opinion, but I hope you have a nice day, and that when this “total NSFW ban” fizzles out, we can all develop our games in peace.
