Amazing update! More Jon lore is always appreciated. One thing I did notice is that after you fight the two “helpers” in Jen’s stomach, if you head backwards it looks like the event is still active for initiating combat. Outside of that, thanks for the additional content - I always look forward to this game updating.

One thing I noticed was that there was no description for the turtles in the zoo, but every other animal exhibit had something when you looked at the sign or walked in front of them.

PROLOGE
First things first, I love seeing all the students pre-mutation. Zenthicks didn’t need to do that but i’m glad we get to see who does and doesn’t dye their hair.
Also, in the bathroom the third stall has a different knocking sound. It bothers me. A lot. So much so it made me make this post just so i could talk about it. Why? Is it lore? Is zenthicks fucking with ME specifically? Why the FUCK would the left and middle stalls have the same knocking sound but ONLY the one on the right has a slightly darker sound? is it politically motivated (/j /j /j /j /j)? WE NEED ANSWERS ZEN. WHY TOILET 3 GOT A DIFFERENT KNOCK?

I love that taylor looks the fucking same with bigger pupils. They suck and i love them. (taylor’s non binary right? i seem to remember that from a later chapter. idr. Better safe than sorry y’know) Sometimes i fogor how consistently fucking funny Zenthick’s writing is. the prequel chapter with the… what should i call them… uh, conspiracy nut-heads, is golden.

CHAPTER 1: 7/11 AND THE LEGEND OF SOBBIN’ STEVE (HE WAS A REAL ONE)

Okay I forgot to screenshot it but the part about other water brands tasting identical to aquafina is a fucking lie. Aquafina tastes like drinking a colony of bacteria and you CANNOT change my mind on this. not sure if the quality of the plastic affects this (mmmmhm tasty microplastics 
) but in any case polar springs and smart water are my go to. typically the ladder because
1: I shoplift from chain stores. stealing from big business is your civic duty friends 
and
2: Smart water has those sports caps and thats really helpful when you (like me) have a job that’s mostly driving.

Another chapter, another stall check. chutback is blocking stall 2 (the knob) so can’t compare, but stall 1 sounds the same and stall 3 still lower pitch. I must know its secrets.

CHAPTER 3: WALKEIA CHRONICLES
It was around this point i realized how viable burp strats are. i used to just parry on amber’s turn but i vaguely remember zenthicks saying he rebalanced some of the moves and lowered parry’s TP gain which, for a defensive move, was very overpowered. burp is comparatively much better now and thats a good thing bc its calorie based.

Sorry i don’t have more to say about these early chapters. most of what it offers is worldbuilding, stage setting, the funny is there, for sure, but I think Zenthicks was still getting intro their groove with the game at this point so its excusable. Some of the chapter 1 dialouge especially is a bit rough. like John never mentions cheese after this. I get its a mouse joke but it just feels out of place with the context of the current chapters and getting to know him better. Still, Zenthicks still pumped out some killer lines like “Your concepual influence is non existent (?)” “Uh, rude?”. The back and forth’s between likeable and entertaining characters is what bolsters the game, not dissimilar to WG darling Some Bullshit, which many (myself included) see this as a sort of spiritual successor to, in a way. RPG maker game with great art, killer writing, interesting setting and lore, its all there. If only we had a talking swo-

Janet in a nutshell. that and “I wouldn’t fuck with you if i didn’t know how to fix it” or whatever the line from 30 seconds ago was when she healed amber after kicking her along the sidewalk. My memory is shit.
If you put a gun to my head and forced me to say something bad about this game, i’d say that janet’s arc about learning to love herself despite her mutations is a bit repetitive. Not to say i don’t like it, she slowly grows more comfortable over time and its clearly not the same thing over and over, and this is MOSTLY (but not completely) an issue with the early chapters in particular. Everyone around her assures her that they do not care that she looks different. With a lot of the imagery and discussion of body changes and learning to accept yourself as you are, I can definitely see this as a trans allegory (though as with most things in her life, Amber is not one for subtlety) Though thats almost certainly just me reaching. If you wanna read Janet as an allegory of sorts for someone unhappy with how they look post transition… I guess i can see it?
I don’t know zenthicks personally (obviously) but I don’t know how they’d feel about people disecting their work looking for symbolism or deeper meaning. especially considering this is, y’know, a niche fetish game posted and hosted primarilly on a niche fetish themed site.
INTERLUDE, FANTA SOAP BOXES
If you’ll allow me to soap box for a moment, i see frighteningly often how some WG game devs tend to get a bit, uh, big for their britches, so to speak. Aspiring to make good content is great but you gotta keep it in perspective, y’know? By making a niche fetish game you ARE limiting the outreach of your work, and comparing it to non-softcore-porn-game, non-fetish games, or even non-niche-fetish-fetish-games, you’re kinda setting yourself up for failure. In terms of WG Games (from my point of view) you have a handful of Big Hitter IP’s, each exemplifying a different appeal.

the PEAK projects tend to fall under more than one. SB has AMAZING art AND writing (Bc nerds and clinko are the dream team), same with Forks. The reason i bring this up is that im a bit sad that I can’t recommend this game and SB to more people because, y’know they’re fat fetish games???
Good writing be damned, they aren’t gonna play it for that reason alone. Prometheus taggart is one of my favorite characters ever written because hes just so earnest and likeable, and his arc is fulfilling. (I’d say the same for amber but shes still going through her arc. We’ll see when we get there but so far so peak.)

CHAPTER 5: WATER WE WAITING FOR (god im fucking hysterical
alrighty! first chapter with a new party member! Claire’s moveset is a bit odd. Mainly employing status moves with a stab and a decent enough smack attack and a self heal to boot. ice barrier is a bit odd, relying primarilly on rng and hoping an enemy doesnt arbitrarily decide to not attack her specifically. Overall she isn’t a bad addition, her moveset is a bit sorted. being able to do more stuff with chilled enemies would really improve the gameplay loop but im too sleep deprived atm to come up with a suggestion. maybe a water move to wet then freeze an enemy to immobilize them, like in magicka?
also:
HAH! no.
Birbs b smol and have bones made of not-being-filled-in-juice (aka they have hollow bones) so no fucknig way. you’d need wings way, WAY bigger than Jay’s to fly with human bones.

lovelovelove getting big comments like this. i read all of it. it makes me very happy when people dig into the game like this and pick up on all the little things. that slightly differently pitched stall is very much just there to mess with people.
also Janet’s body issues are intended as a trans allegory yeah. go ahead and dissect for symbolism and whatnot, especially with the less horny characters because I tend to go harder on it when they don’t have belly scenes to occupy people’s attention.

Ok back to ACTUALLY talking about the game. The maze segment took me a long ass time my first time through. if only because i got rather unlucky and kept going in circles lol. one you realize you should follow the exit signs does it stop being quite as bad.
oh! also the sprite cramberry thing will ALWAYS be relevant because the game is still set in 2019! Meme culture has not actually progressed at all because each chapter is like, a day apart at most. shit’s crazy.
I also missed the classic amber line “I will never admit that something’s my fault” which… is just so her. I have a very love-hate relationship with amber and her flaws being so clear just make me gravitate towards her more.

Yeaaah… small complaint. the balancing on this fight is a bit fucked ngl. Unless you START the fight spamming flame breath you’re gonna have a rough time. even then you’re still gonna have at least once person go down no matter what. I know using flame breath will decrease the wall’s attack but imo it doesn’t go down nearly enough. with their high HP, high attack, and ability to confuse without a quick way to cure the status, if they randomly chose to confuse amber you’re basically fucked. actually, no, if they confuse anybody but jay you’re fucked. Jay’s first aid skill is great don’t get me wrong but since it can’t cure statuses its just a worse version of Janet’s healing spores. If Jay could remove statuses, remove stat debufs, or anything else similar, he’d be a MAJOR asset! From my memory the most useful extra party member is (surprise surprise) ANNIE BABYYYYYY. Satellite Drop is fucking madness.
After FINALLY defeating the wall o’ flesh (not the one from Spooky’s Jumpscare mansion or the one from terraria) We get to Amber’s panic attack. This is where i’ll discuss the yellow scarves becuase my dumb ass forgot to write along. Oopsie!
The yellowscarves are quite the interesting cast of characters! They filled a role once (sorta) filled by the, uh, group of annoying conservative podcaster guys whos group name i can’t remember. After their whole operation went up in smoke (or i guess in corn) we don’t really have a human group of antagonists anymore, so Zenthicks, bless their heart, gave us some!
And its bruce and claire’s dad who has fire powers (also sorry i thought bruce had fire powers it IS just an effect to show off how strong he is. also his super strength being his mutation means its a bit unfair for him to compare, right?)
and his gang of wacky loveable (except Memphis) and Rachel, the new main villain (?)
I love the whole crew, Hephaestus is my favorite because of how over it all he is. dude is just here to vibe and i can appreciate that. Cat’s addition to amber’s ̶h̶a̶r̶e̶m̶ polycule is great, Rachel is a fun villain, Red’s Vibes are impecable, Sky is a shithead who people tolerate because shes useful i think, and marcus is SUPER underrated y’all did him (and Hephaestus >:( ) dirty in the popularity poll. y’all make me sad.
Back to the present, Amber is having a panic attack because jay is gently-ish encouraging her to eat the heart of the hospital monster and the trauma of being trapped inside fox-rachel-ahri is too much to bear. This whole plotline about amber recovering from a traumatic event is handled really well, but oddly i don’t really have that much to say about it? Yeah its well written, gives character development, i like it, I love jay’s involvement in amber’s healing later, I love that whole scene really but… thats kinda all i have to say. Its good, i liked it.
also jay’s face here is priceless.

actually not true! Due to how wood reacts to cuts, round shields especially were useful against bladed weapons because after impact the weapon wound often become stuck in the wood. If the wielder did not let go (which was often the case) the shield-bearer could just… rotate the shield lol.
This broke the stance of the attacker,disarmed them, and, in some cases, would just make em fall the fuck over. Truly, medieval combat was the funniest shit in the world.
For the uninitiated, look up Half-Swording and mordschlag (both are real medieval euopean sword fighting techniques)

We really get to dig into these characters’ insecurities here, and its great!
for starters:
yeah turns out i completelfy forgot this part and came to the conclusion that janet’s arc being a trans metaphor was something more subtle. this is pretty on the nose, and in a very good way. It’s like a weird anti-transition where someone goes from feeling comfortable as themselves to suddenly having body dysphoria for reasons completely out of their control.
Personally, i’m far to cis to be able to correctly identify what this can really mean in a trans narrative. is that sudden shift from gender comfort to dysphoria a puberty thing? like a kid isn’t exactly super masculine or feminine a kid’s a kid but as soon as puberty starts the existent binary starts to rear its ugly head and you got a bunch of eggs suddenly poping into the world being very confused why their up-until then comfortable non-sex-identity-crisis-having life is suddenly a sex-identity-crisis-having life? is that how it works? I THINK that’s how it works but i’m a fucking idiot. I’ve asked trans friends about their experiences and i guess its on me for not asking about this in particular but fuckin… i don’t know! I’m out of my element here. If you want analysis of a work with themes of self-loathing for your fat fetish look no further ya boi’s got your back but themes of someone deepy unhappy with their appearance and experiencing body dysphoria? I could probably say some shit but I think me saying a bunch of shit that could be wrong would be harmful to a lot of people and i don’t wanna fuckin do that!
All this to say, i can spot a trans narrative, but i’m not talking about it because i care about trans folk and its not my place to comment on their struggles. sidesteping this issue. kthx.
As for the others (amber and annie) amber’s basically goes into everything someone might take issue with her character (excluding the weird possibly bigoted takes which can be disregarded)
her hyper sexuality, her selfishness, and her ego. These things are insecurities of her’s, things she is concerned with herself and as she puts it “enables her worst habits”. its a struggle of her character and weirdly reserved and tasteful as for how games on this site handle its themes. not even some bullshit tackled if the overindulgence is truly a bad thing, more the morals of those partaking in (as i’ve taken to refering to any topics pretaining to sutffing, vore, WG etc.)“The Funny” (Capital F Funny refers to subjects, works, charcters, etc. that haves these qualities. As an example Amber is indeed the Funny, as is Annie).
Funny works tend away from discussing the moral implications of overindulgence (hell most barley concern ethics or deeper themes at all because they fucking porn games but thats just what makes SB and ApocXL special i guess. Apocalypse XL dares to ask the question: “what if Funny bad actually” but it fucking works??? Truly, only a character like amber can be faced with psychic illusion mocking her obsessive and ravenous consumption of the remnants of a dying post apocalyptic world where people are still resorting to scavenging food that will in all likelihood soon go bad and continue to indulge in her ravenous consumption because lol its fun and IT SOMEHOW WORKS. God i love this game.
Annie i have less to say about. While i DO suffer from severe anxiety, Annie’s issues are entirely unlike mine in nature so sadly i have little to say past " it gud

Amber’s not gonna put on a lot of weight permanently but I do have some plans for fat scenes in the future because even if I don’t generally like weight gain the way most people do, I too sometimes feel evil.
Also Amber’s tongue is not that long but Jen’s probably is.

I’ve been playing dungeons and dragons for almost 8 years now, and for most of that I’ve been the perma-dm. Believe me when i say i know how good it feels for players to get it. If I can do that for you, I’ll keep doing it.
smart move putting those so close together, by the way. It was a bit risky (in theory) because having those scenes functionally back to back ran the risk of laying on the themes a bit thick (no pun intended) but the alternative- having the sky fight go directly into the Jen fight with no breather- is ALSO risky. Unless you’re like, fuckin’, Hideo Kojima and can somehow pull off two amazing boss fights with 10 minutes of game play in between, having a bit of breathing room after a whole bunch of shit happening is the way to go. Kojima made it a ladder, you made it an elevator, it works.
Idk why but the pacing there feels a bit off in hindsight, but i legit cannot think of a way to restructure it to make more sense. having sky after Jen makes no sense, and the tone in the Jen fight is VERY different from the tone after sky… there’s no winning here, i guess. Sorry the one thing I take issue with is also something i offer 0 help in fixing, but this really feels like theres no alternative.
