Hello all! We’re done with the Apostles update a little early! Update 0.10 is finally here! But I have new beyond that in the form of a new project, so keep on reading if you are so interested!

Old saves should work! Simply go to your old Apostles game, go into the ‘www’ folder and copy the ‘saves’ folder. Then go to update 0.10, go into the ‘www’ folder, and overwrite the current ‘save’ folder. Though if you saved in the gallery room, walk back out into the hall. You should then be transported back into the new content.

If you don’t have old saves, don’t worry! A save should be there in slot 1 for the new Gretel update contents. In slot 2, there is a save for red heather, for those that want to see that path. (More info below)

10 total Apostles updates! A big milestone to be sure! I wouldn’t have been able to get 10 of these updates out without the support of CJ the artist, all the beta testers, and all of you who play the game! Thank you so much!

This update will be the long awaited Gretel focused update! We will see just how she’s changed since the recent developments we saw start at Bel’s birthday bash at White Well clearing! I won’t give too much away, and just let Gretel’s new girth speak for itself!

I had also planned to include some Lily action in the update, but decided to shift focus to a pure Gretel update for this one. (With some Sebas to!) So some content that I originally planned on or talked about, might be absent from this version. (Can’t believe that pink haired elf from the inn has escaped my wraith once again!) But rest assured that update 0.11 will have A LOT of Lily, Sophia and Veronica!

This update will also include what should have been there last update for ‘Red Route’ Heather. This new content will bridge the gap, and connecting Red route Heather into the new content. Or more clearly, it will do away with Red route Heather. Full disclosure, I’m not totally happy with how I did this, getting rid of red route Heather, but it’s probably for the best. Heather on the red route was just not a very interesting character to write.

If you want to see what exactly happens on this route, load up save 2. It’ll have a small section showing how Red Route Heather changes her mind, and it will offer some minor changes to Heather’s 0.9 content here and there.

But enough about red route Heather! I’ve got something new and big I’ve been wanting to share for a good long time!

After much planning and brainstorming behind the scenes, I can finally talk about ANOTHER project CJ and myself have been working on behind the scenes. A new weight gain centered game we’ve dubbed “Project Atlas”

I can tell you that this is something CJ and I have been talking about and getting ready for several months now. We made a “game bible” to store all our ideas and outline the plot, and that bible has reached 50 page with over 20,000 words!

As for the contents of the game itself, I will keep the story beats hidden for now as it is something I think players should experience first hand. I will say that from a gameplay perspective expect a VERY different style of game then compared to Apostles.

While it will be a weight gain game, of course, with a focus on story, it won’t be as “visual novel” as Apostles. Expect a greater focus on combat, as well as resource management for your equipment. As well, the setting won’t be in a medieval fantasy area. We’ll be replacing the magic with lazer beams!

Going further, Apostle has you start as some very overpowered characters, where that won’t be the case for Project Atlas. Quite the opposite. Due to that, the game will have a great deal of “bad ends” to find. Right now over 20 are already planned!

If any of this has piqued your interest, stick around! Work has started on a brief demo that will introduce players to the world, and show them what Project Atlas is all about. Hopefully I can have it ready to share within the 2-3 months.

Now to be upfront with this aspect, I have set up a patreon page dedicated to the game. Getting resources outside the default rpgmaker gets expensive FAST.

If you sign up, much appreciated! We’ll be sharing some character art as well as teasers for the game. In addition we’ll be sharing the game a bit earlier for anyone there.

If you don’t want to sign up, perfectly understandable! Updates will be made public a few weeks after it’s been shared on the patreon. And this will apply too all updates even the full game.

Lastly, this won’t have any affect on Apostles. Apostles will always be free to the public.

Anyway with that all said, I hope to have gotten some interest in those who are ready to see a brand new game from CJ and I!

Had the binge the update as soon as I saw it was out! Some really great stuff in there. The highlights being of course, Gretel’s gluttony and the mayor and his wife. Also a surprise preggo cameo.

The text about the mayor and his wife exploring their kinks was great. Eating until he puked? Fun, even if it was an example of them taking it a bit far. His wife wanting him to waddle down to the Inn, unbutton his shirt, and gorge himself in front of everyone while belching and farting? Fantastic, even if he didn’t agree. It’s nice to know her thirst goes so much farther.

dina’s new sprite is fantastic, even if you had to wait for it till the end. Hopefully Lily takes her up on her offer in the next update.

So, I gotta say, this update proves my gripes with .9 were at best a blip or at worst only with Heather, since .10 was a great return to the quality I love about Apostles! As I will detail within this review
SPOILERS FOR .10 DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T PLAYED OR GIVE A SHIT
This is all my opinion so please don’t take it as objective fact

Pros:

The Bliss of the Niss: I loved seeing how the Apostles have actually begun converting major parts of the town to their cause, I love when religions and cultures are used to world build and the fact that we are seeing the Apostles get confident enough in terms of converting the populace of Auburnwoods to hold actual mass in the town really helps me get excited for when the last of the descenters are gone from the village, for lack of less violent terminology

Homecoming: Greg was a HUGE boost to this update, the fact that he already converted to the correct Niss religion so quickly really helped him be more of the Apostles insight into the villagers in a way that they normally wouldn’t have gotten without his return, most notably with Fresha actually softening for him due to their history as lovers(And my game theory is he’s a closeted feeder, but that may just be my Gretel-vision, speaking of which!)

Glutton Incarnate: Gretel really shined this update, not only because she is finally embracing the sin she is supposed to be under, but we finally got more of an insight into who she is, maybe it was due to the fact that she always seemed to keep her cards close to her chest, but Gretel was kinda a nothing character for me before hand due to this. Now she is definitely holding her own with the other Apostles, I really hope that she’s right about the Red Fury (I called it Hansel before) is put away only since her pacifist side dealing with the worsening conditions of the war would be way more interesting then a relapse, but that would just be a me thing.

Brother War: The details about the civil war and just the detail that the rebels were willing to kill their own men to try and take out some of the King’s men shows how either ruthless or desperate they are that they’ll waste more time killing their own men over saving them. And I can imagine that the fact that this is a civil conflict over a foreign war makes it far worse on the psyche, since this is your own countrymen you’re killing while with a foreign force you can at least other them more efficiently.

Saucesational: Once more CJ killed it with the sprites, especially the ballin Sam sprite and how Gretel slowly gets bigger over the course of the update, how the sprites are executed are very well done, especially for the bigger villagers and the way you used what CJ gave you is great this time around.

Sebas’s mom is a big fat bitch: Cynthia is still a treat with how bastardly she is, as Sebas has to tolerate it so she doesn’t get bored, I think back to the debate of Heather v. L we had and I still stand by the fact that Cynthia is basically how L would have developed without Gretel and Sebastians guidance. An overgrown spoiled brat of a woman that is terrifying to consider has all that power located within her

Barbarian Bedtime: I’m glad that we got a proper explanation as to why Violet has been MIA for several updates, considering Acedia’s embrace it makes sense. My headcanon for her embraced dream is that it is just that game, Hatred

Cons:

N/A

Overall while I did really enjoy this update and I can’t think of a single thing that would actually hold it back for me, it didn’t really make me diamonds like L’s muffin update did, so thusly I will give it a 9/10, great way to kick off the plot about the Saviors and keeping all the different divergent threads within the story and keep it in mind, but if it had a moment like the Bad End to the Muffin Update, it would be a 10/10, but I not only eagerly await this new project as well as the next update, I will support the Patreon ASAP for the new game but also for the sake of Apostles admittedly, since Waxer, imho, without a shadow of a doubt has earned my dollar with Apostles.

Tl;Dr Gretel’s blobbin, Sam is Ballin, No complaints and eagerly awaiting the next update, in the famous words of Snoop Dogg

Well this was a fun little update.

I love that Gretel is starting to get her life together and is started talking to the other villages and is starting to move past the pain and is moving on to eating a ton.

I also love Greg, he is what Gretel and the whole villages need a nice guy that can be a blight spot in this story but he also has PTSD from being in the war which means that he can be a great character for Gretel to talk to and maybe both of them help each other out.

last is Cynthia she is PURE EVIL (not just because of the dog thing) she love chaos and being that devil on shoulder but she is right that if you just kill the knockoff Apostles it would make things easier but I hope that Sebastian do not kill them because that a trap so Cynthia to get in to his head more.

Hey guys, just finished the update. I’m tired and a bit pressed for time right now so I can’t go into my usual multi paragraph examination of the update like we all like to do here (perhaps another time). I just wanted to stop by and say that I found this chapter immensely enjoyable (like that’s a surprise). I’ll do a mini spoiler review thing though:

It was nice to see Greg interact with everyone and get some more insight into the soldiers, they’ve felt like a very far off aspect of things so far, but Greg slipped right into the dynamics of the town. I guess I’m trying to say that he felt more like a missing puzzle piece rather than add-on if that makes sense.

I enjoyed the check up with Sam, nice to see her get some updates about the town. Also glad to hear that she’ll be coming back soon, can’t wait to see how she’ll react to a certain sister Growing up as it were. Also glad to see her develop in her own ways, kind a wondering if we’re getting the three B’s with those sisters, if you get me.

Dana was sad, with a nice pinch of hope, as per usual. Still nice to see her still being friends with Gretel at least. Also, that whole written section chef’s kiss! In other news, guy who likes big blue girls is, infract, happy that girls are getting big and blue. I know you said that the fetish wasn’t exactly your forte, but I’ve been enjoying it so far, just remember that it doesn’t go all to the stomach. Personally I’ve always preferred my berries as just fat blue ladies tbh.

Penny and Gretel are an interesting combo I never would have guessed to happen, let alone be so interesting. I’m curious about the third sister too. (and totally not just because she’s probably a cute fatty). I’m still on the fence about Gretel’s current state, but still very much hopeful. She’s really blooming from the shy person she started out as, which is kind of weird to say considering her role, but honesty really goes a long way among those three.

I’m going to pass on the big picture stuff for now, that’s a whole can of worms I don’t have the time for now, but I did find the new information quite intriguing, especially considering how close Lily’s getting to Jon Luke and company.

TLDR: Great work, as per usual. Nice fatties and story development!

P.S. Also kind of interested on how the Lily update will work out, I know there’s been some polarized discussions about her on here.

Overall I enjoyed the update but there are some things that bothered me, aside from the saviors stuff the update felt like a filler which, given the last update was pretty much just Sebastian/Heather fan service, is a bit concerning.

I know this update is moving towards the next big narrative arc which is presumably centered around a test of Sebastian’s pacifism and or cowardice as his inaction will now no longer affect random friars or nuns but rather his close friends. While this update really didn’t move the plot forward too much it’s certainly in a place where lots could happen regarding the fake apostles. Given the next update is a Lily one I’m excited to see how she reacts to this usurper if she interacts with her at all.

It was a pretty bold decision to center the update around a guy whose basically going to be shelved next update, but it was interesting getting more exposition on the civil war and seeing someone comment on Auburnwoods whose familiar with what it was like before it was the prosperous hub it’s becoming now or the desolate ghost town it was when the trio first arrived. I think my favorite scene was the one where Thomas shared his suspicion of the apostles as well as them recalling their time at war.

I have to say I am a bit disappointed violet made no appearances whatsoever especially given the last Sebastian update was centered around Heather. And this is probably a controversial opinion but I’m not a huge fan of Gretal’s 180 personality change, I found her mental anguish + her whole Per aspera ad Astra/indominate willpower one of the most interesting narrative beats in the game. I still believe the update where she has a complete breakdown to be one of the best narrative stuff I’ve seen in any RPG maker game, and while I’m not opposed to her overcoming her demons it felt way too sudden, after what like 4 updates ago she was a really bad day away from slaughtering all of Auburnwoods, and now she feels like a PG version of Lily.

My favorite part of the update were the little intermissions featuring Cynthia and Sebastian, the dark humor as well as the general dynamic the two was both entertaining and enthralling. Coom wise stuff the content this update was too lovey dovey for me (im more into stuff like the infamous scenes in the last update) but I enjoyed reading it regardless especially the wholesome relationship between Jacob and Maya.

Good work on the update and I’m looking forward to your other project too!

Thank you very much! We’ll try our best to deliver on the new game! Hope you enjoy the first look demo that’ll be coming in the next few months!

So happy you enjoyed the update! Not only in terms of the Gretel content, but the "things’’ with Maya and Jacob as well. I very much enjoy their dynamic. The main trio are all veteran feeders, so it’s fun to frame Maya and Jacob as novices who are still working out the kinks of their new kink.

I have so much fun writing Maya and Jacob that I already have 3 more black text scenes written for them, but did not have a chance to fit them into this update XD. But I’ll bring them in sooner or later!

As for Dina…yeah her and Lily are gonna have some serious fun next update, count on it!

Happy to hear you enjoyed the update and the new Gretel content!

And it’s good to hear the same on Greg. It can be tricky adding new characters in and giving them such a center roll in the content, but hopefully everyone loves Greg for the big ol teddy bear that he is.

As for Cynthia it was my intention to make a character that everyone loves to hate, and it sounds like in that regard I succeeded! As for how Sebastian will deal with the false Apostles problem…time will tell!

Always so good to see your reviews! And even better to see this update get such high marks!

Bliss of the Niss: That’s one of my main joys as well! The sense of progression in the town as the faith of the Niss becomes more central to the way of life. The first update had the church be a rundown dump, most of the villagers were either suspicious or too dead inside to care about the Missionaries advice, and very few were willing to open their doors for them. It makes the current times of half the town joining in prayer and eating together in mass even more sweet. And those few in town who haven’t ‘officially’ joined the Niss, still welcome the teachings from Gretel and Sebastian…as well as the snacks!

Homecoming: Glad you liked Greg! It can be tricky to add a new character in a center roll, but Greg is hopefully likable enough to fit right in! He was fun to write for as well, and hopefully now after seeing him at Auburnwoods for a bit, people will have even more reason to root for him when he returns to the front lines of the war.

Glutton Incarnate: Glad you enjoyed this new Gretel, because I had a good deal of fun writing for her this update! (Not that I didn’t also enjoy the more depressive, aggressive Gretel) I thought about perhaps being a bit more subtle with how much Gretel is now eating…but then decided her being a complete and utter glutton was a lot more fun!

As for her relationship with the sword, and the Red Fury, time will tell if the separation between them will hold! Though we’ll be learning more about them soon, and the exact nature of the sword might just surprise you! It’s true meaning is something I’ve been wanting to reveal for quite some time, and I’m pleased no one has yet guessed it!

Brother War: Thanks, nice of you to say! I always worry that people just gloss over the sections of worldbuilding that doesn’t really have anything to do with fats, so it’s good these sections have an audience!

Saucesational: I am very lucky to have met CJ, the game would not be nearly as good without him!

Sebas’s mom is a big fat bitch: Glad you enjoyed those sections, or at least enjoyed how fun Lady Cynthia is to hate! I was worried I might have gone a little overboard with her content. Both in terms of her actions, and with her music, but it seems like it all worked as intended!

Barbarian Bedtime: Violet will return to the real world…eventually!

Cons NA:

I will happily take a 9/10! A much better rating then I feared, given the somewhat shorter nature of the update! But as always, I will keep working hard until every update is 10/10!

And if you support me on the new project, thank you, thank you, and thank you very much! I will happily take the support! Though don’t ever feel like you owe me for Apostles, as your long feedback and thought has always been repayment enough! Thank you always for taking the time to let me know your thoughts on the game!

And also thank you SnoopDog!

Thanks! Very happy to hear you enjoyed the Gretel update!

Good to hear! Greg was a key part of the update. Because he’s a funnier character then we’ve eve Because I wanted to show a bit more about who the man is, before we send him back to the front line of the war and cover how the civil war plotline will continue on.

You’re actually right on the money with the three sisters each gaining one of the three B’s! It’s actually been one of the long running plot threads that I’ve had, and is finally starting to show.
Each of the three sisters ‘pairs up’ with one of the Apostles, and their gain follows suit.
Sam is with Sebastian, and she gains along the path of the lazy ‘fat ass.’
Steph is with Gretel, and (once her fast is up) will make up for her weeks of starving by eating until her ‘belly’ is as big as an ox.
And Sophia is with Lily, with the innocent and pure girl gaining some less then innocent ‘breasts’ that will get many lustful gazes.

Good to know! As you’ve noted, I somewhat stumble in the dark with the blueberry stuff! So to hear its been going well is a relief to hear. Thank you for the advice on it, I’ll take it into account and make it so during Gretel and Dana’s next day of drinking!

Penny and Gretel were fun to write. They’ve got quite a long history too. As for the third half-sister Filo she won’t be shown for a fair bit, but when she does get shown…well there will be QUITE A BIT to show.

Nice to hear you enjoy the new changes from Gretel!

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, hope to continue to impress with the updates coming down the line!

@Cassent

Happy to hear there were some elements of the update, but I am sorry there were other parts that were a bit more of a mixed bag.

Your criticism of the update being slightly filler is a fair one. However that is just the style of the game as I’ve been writing it. The tale of Apostles is a long meandering story, where the main plot often is in the background of the daily slice of life type stories in Auburnwoods. This is a story that I say in all seriousness, probably won’t be complete for at least twenty years. I do understand that can be rather frustrating as a player, so I’ll try to make up for it by making each update as enjoyable as possible.

Thanks! I enjoyed having Greg take a center role in the story, and it sounds like most everyone did as well! The Thomas and Greg scene was also a favorite of mine, due in no small part to the MANLY BRO FIST!

Yeah, you are 100% right. I do need to bring Violet back sooner rather than later. I have been putting her off for too long as I try to figure out what best to do with her character. (A similar thing I had to consider with Ed and Al) In any event, while I likely won’t give Violet a full update like Heather, I will give her enough content to carry her story along soon…or soonish.

Fair points on Gretel! Much of which will be addressed as she develops in later updates, so stay tuned!

I was really worried that the Lady Cynthia sections would offset the more wholesome elements of the Gretel update, but it appears my fears were unfounded! Good to know they stood out as one of the better parts! You’ll see even more of her in the next update, though she will no longer serve as the tiger but rather the Barbarian Princess…

Thanks for your honest thoughts! Hope you enjoy what CJ and I cook up next for the Lily update and the Project Atlas Demo!
