Thank you! Means a lot to have people so excited to see these games! I know the addition of Atlas has extended the waiting for Apostles, (still a lot of work left to go there, as it’s somewhat become 2 updates worth of content in 1) but hopefully should be well worth the wait, and something playable might be coming from there soon!
Also, a benefit of the swapping between games lets me relax on one project and regain that fire! I was a bit burned out on Apostles after 0.11, but already I’m eager to get back at it, with some big plans for 0.12. Gretel is gonna get fatter, Sebastian is gonna act even more shady, Lily isn’t just going to Suckle a Duckle, she’s going to Duckle a Suckle!
don’t worry, take your time, i love atlas too. I really like the obese sprites that you’re using on the game and after seeing the video of what’s going to come to the game i feel excited too i like the whole new map, and… i’m curious to know if the Main characters are going to get fat too?
They will! In Atlas the game can be divided in two parts, the “combat mission” and the “city exploration.” In each of the combat missions there will be traps and fail states that lead to one or several members of the party getting quite fat in a bad end, before the game is reset.
However, in the city exploration sections, there will be storylines for each of the characters to (optionally) grow fat in the more slower, story driven way that Apostles handles it. But once a character puts on some weight, there will be no going back for it, and the gain is permanent!
Omg!!! I can’t wait to play atlas too!! Sound amazing to know that the gain is permanent!! It’ll affect negatively the combat path or not? Like getting slower in battle or something like that?
That one is still under a little debate. On one hand, it would be cool if getting fatter made you slower and weaker in combat. But on the other hand, it is a WG game, and lots of the story arcs are tied to wg, so we don’t want to too heavily penalize players who have the characters gain weight.
I do. It was really nice touch to make Gretel loose bits of power (in levels form) as she become more calm and peacful with herself due to her true nature.
I feel you can play both sides of this story wise by introducing a story mechanic like a scooter or vehicle that can allow bigger characters to retain fast movement while still giving momemts of gameplay where you feel the weight of the characters you control. The specifics would need work but I think you can play ball on both courts here. I for one enjoy when the game gives you the opportunity to feel the weight that your character has gained in the movement and gameplay.
Personally, I think that a debuff is fine if the game is designed around it. If you slow down when you gain weight but go through more compact/easier to navigate maps, then it’s mostly fine. Same thing for combat, I don’t mind if there are some disadvantages to being fat as long as there are some advantages that allow you to shift your play style. If it just makes you move slower in and out of combat, then it only makes things more difficult to deal with and greatly magnifies any other flaws that might be present and takes away from my enjoyment of the fetish aspects because I know that they will make things worse.
TL;DR: Unless you properly design around fat debuffs, they will probably sour the experience for me and many others.
Imagine actually being stuck through some doorframes in the outside world… Considering that the weight gained is permanent you need to be careful not to gain so much
Don’t worry there! Gretel’s advanced skills with magic are her own, and came before she became
The Apostle of Wrath. So her skills with magic aren’t actually going down, just her overall combat ability. In the more recent update, Clair remarks that one of the gifts the Apostle of Wrath gets is an instinctual superiority in all matters of combat, so as Gretel distances herself from that old sin and into her new one, her skills in combat or “levels” naturally go down.
Some people might see that as a loss, but as fighting has never brought Gretel any happiness, she’s happy to see it go.
true LOL XD, but yeah i’m relieved to hear that gretel is not losing magic power, speaking of combat power we still have sebastian an lily to fulfill that role
I can’t wait to see it. The girl has only begun her descent into gluttony and she has already put on 180 pounds in under three months, despite not really having the title of Apostle of Gluttony at this moment. That’s a promising sign of a big future ahead of her.
I can’t wait to see what skills and weight she gains as she grows more comfortable in her new role. She’s already brought L up ten pounds.
I just realized that this has implications for what Gretel’s sister ate while she was alive and a desire to see some truly impressive feats of gluttony worthy of the title of Apostle. I’m not sure if you would like my suggestions.
