Hey there, I’m Ritunn! I’ve been developing TTRPGs independently for a few years now and wanted to introduce my latest project, Blades & Bellies, a revision and expansion of a project I worked on a while back.
Blades & Bellies is a solo journaling TTRPG taking place in the high fantasy (and weight) world of Silenia, a prosperous country steeped in theological struggle and the prison of a god of decadence known as Dolorou. Dolorou’s prison underneath the earth has led to his power creating an eldritch mega dungeon filled with fattening threats and treasure ripe for adventure. You take on the role of one such adventurer, delving into the dungeon to find your grand prize and trying to escape without succumbing to immobility.
The TTRPG uses a system of drawing from a 54 card deck to decide what event happens next, offering prompts for you to write about in a freeform style and slowly bringing you closer to your designated treasure and widening your waistline. You’ll need to use a mix of abilities granted by your class, a boon from your deity, and powers granted by random events to stop the pounds from packing on too fast as you write about your adventure every step of the way. The game ultimately ends when you encounter 4 of a kind ace or face cards and you fight the BFEG (Big Fat Evil Guy), letting you chronicle the end of your epic tale with victory or immobile defeat.
The game has been thoroughly tested by myself and a handful of playtesters who’ve all loved it so far! However, I intend to adjust and update the game as needed with more folks getting their hands on it. Overall though, my intent with B&B was to offer a fun solo TTRPG experience in a niche that has very few games designed for it. I do hope you enjoy and I’d love to hear about any adventures folks go on! If you have any questions, please let me know.
B&B is entirely free and can be downloaded from its FurAffinity page found below.
Solo stuff is great for getting comfortable with the storytelling aspects of TTRPGs folks struggle with! Let’s one have a good grasp on it before investing in the cooperative storytelling elements of multiplayer TTRPGs.
always wanted to try solo TTRPG after years of running Campaigns for my friends in a traditional setting but nothing ever stood out…This’ll be perfect to dip my toes into the Solo TTRPG Story stuff! Mostly cause it caters to my favorite thing, weight gaining and large ladies!
Im about to be on a train for three days and wont have a heck of a lot else to do… Though, Im not sure any deck of cards I own has jokers anymore. Might have to tinker with the rules a bit, or maybe make my own jokers… does give me the chance to do some fun card art…
Ah yeah, that was something I ran into. I realized my decks didn’t have any jokers (used to but I forgot I had to remove them for back when I was a magician). Thankfully, you can pick up a Bicycle deck for cheap and be covered. They got those things for sale everywhere. Designing your own cards is MUCH cooler though!
Been reading the ruleset and wanted your help to understand a few pointers in the examples:
Example 1 on your guide, you find a 7 of Clubs but in the calculations you have 9/2, shouldnt it be 7/2 as its the cost of the card or am i missing something?
Example 2, the example refers to having an ace encounter, which would be related to fattening foes and for that you wouldnt be able to use Meaty Metabolism as its a class ability, correct?
It appears I forgot to change that 7 to a 9 when I was creating the formula, thanks for pointing that out! Meaty Metabolism is also one of two class abilities that can be used regardless of encounter and applies to 2 subsequent encounters, so I wanted to demonstrate that here. Otherwise, I’ll get the first example fixed up!
