Casualties XL: A Casualties Unknown Weight Gain Mod

Launch option needed: WINEDLLOVERRIDES=“winhttp.dll=n,b” %command%

Something about this mod keeps breaking the game. It works fine for a while, but at some point, whenever you start the game, the text on the intro screen just says ‘discretion!’. You can get past it if you click and hit escape multiple times, but then when you try to start a game, it gets stuck while loading at the part with the “Instantiating chunks” text in the corner. Fixing it requires you to go into the Users/[name]/AppData/LocalLow/Orsoniks/CasualtiesUnknown folder and deleting the CasualtiesXL folder there or just the cfg.cfg file in it, since it’s the only one.

On an unrelated note, what does the Locale setting change? I haven’t noticed anything when changing it from ‘en’ to ‘tok’.

After I lunch the game with the mod, the intro is replaced with word “discretion!”, and buttons in menu dont react on anything. Its not all of the game, its just buttons. I will leave LogOutput file here, maybe it will help more.
LogOutput.zip (998 Bytes)

How do you install the mod so it works on the game? Do i just need to download the normal game and the mod and that’s it or is there some specific way of doing it?

For the people with modding problems:
this comment from the games itchio page has all the needed stuff/links

Your game folder should look similar to this
Main game folder:

BepInEx

You need to extract mod zip into plugins, dont paste the zip file otherwise you get the buggy intro text/menu icons
it should look like this (idk how setup for multiple mods looks i havent tried it yet)

Thanks, turns out that I had to put the files without unzipped XLv folder itself.

Hi! Will you be updating this mod now that the steam demo release is available?

there is a experimental build in the server which should work on the latest steam demo

I have a problem: on all versions buttons in menu are not active, only with this mod unzipped without XLv folder. Without mod everything works fine and without errors. Am I doing something wrong?

Maybe its because you unpack it wrong. Files should have way like this.

My files are unpacked just like here, and everything works with the 5.1 version of the game. The Steam version refuses to work with any versions of the mod (it’s currently version 6.1). Thought it would be useful to talk about this issue with the Steam version.

I didnt try this version of mode with other version of the game than 5.1, and I dont think that current mod works with new version.

Well then we can only wait

The experimental version on the discord works fine with the current steam version, the 6.1 update did move the folder around a bit so if you had it previously installed you’ll have to put it back in the new root folder.

I have played this mod since it first came out, and it is honestly very good. I will say, and while hard, I love it when weight gain has more increments. I think having filler weight spirits would be nice, although time-consuming. I also like what Star Pound does and lets you be basically a walking blob, and it would be awesome if we could get one more stage that is bigger (stage 7) while keeping stage 5 mobile. While I know it can be hard or time-consuming, I would be willing to help in this endeavor tbh

I agree wholeheartedly with you on having more mobile stages JohnFallout.

Honestly thoughI gotta credit this mod with introducing this awesome game to me.

Not having explicit permission from the dev to make the mod makes it in no way questionable. That’s the norm for modding. If people actually practiced this, it would heavily restrict modding for larger games, like rimworld for example. imagine the dev having to hand out permission to even fifty modders a week.

Duplicating every item and broken 8x foliage bag craft button doesn’t go away and covers other crafts can’t lockpick any because two locks overlap!!!

When there is Rshlib oh
