Core Keeper Potential

,

So I’ve been watching quite a bit of Core Keeper, its gameplay is really good but in addition the sprites look like they’re pretty easy to modify. Could be easy to make a mod to add a food biome as well as a weight gain system for the player character.

love this game would love to see a mod

I took a quick look, and it might be possible, but I can’t confirm that. There is official modding support with a SDK that looks like it might be able to do more than just change or add sprites.

I think Starbound modders before Steam Workshop support used something very similar to this, so this should be the way in for others to create a Core Keeper WG mod.

Right. The SDK’s between Starbound and Core Keeper are very different since they use completely different game engines. It’s up to each developer to release their own SDK for their games, and even still not all SDK’s are equal - some might only allow for basic graphic substitutions and new items, but may not allow for entirely new functions (like we’d need for a true weight gain component).

Yeah but ya gotta look at stuff like New Vegas and Pokemon. They weren’t built for stuff like that either but modders made it work.

Interesting idea but I don’t think it’ll get too far, unfortunately.

Starbound, which you seem to be familiar with, has just the right amount of pixels combined with semi-realistic proportions to allow for weight gain to look good without being too much work and keeping the pixel art style.

This game doesn’t. You can certainly try. I’m sure you could make something decent, but it really wouldn’t look the greatest if you’re keeping the same pixel art style with the same proportions.

But then again, a lot of RPG maker games have 2 heads tall proportions and people seem to make a lot of those, so maybe it’s just my preferences, though they at least have a lot more pixels to work with.
