sorry for asking this but when the next free version…?

I just updated the demo this most recent update! It comes with all the bells and whistles as far as graphics and the new HUD goes. But unfortunately, the entirety of the game won’t be released for free. Aside from perhaps a few other updates, the demo is as far as it’s going to go story-wise

I can’t get past chapter 5, and I have the 0.8 version ?

The 0.8.0 version and above are cleaned-up versions of the game, basically me going back and de-spaghettifying the triggers and events and scripts and so on and so forth because it was getting unplayable for a lot of people. Chapters 4 and 5 were some of the biggest (or, especially in Chapter 5’s case, most frustrating) chapters, so they got their own update.

Version 0.8.0 was Chapters 1-3, Version 0.8.1 was for Chapters 4 & 5, and Version 0.8.2 will be for Chapters 6 & 7, as well as the “single map” areas like Lady Dienro’s house and the Developer’s Room.

While Chapters 6 & 7 have been written and were included in 0.7 versions of the game, they’re now reliant on triggers and events that have been renumbered, reordered, or phased out; so that’s why this latest version caps you at Chapter 5. In the next update (coming out later this month!) the story will continue and take you to Chapters 6 & 7.

Plus, I wasn’t all that happy with the rushed pace of the ending, so this gives me a chance to go back and rewrite it!

That all being said, I’m thankful that you checked it out! The next update should be out near the end of the month :slight_smile:

WE’RE IN THE ENDGAME NOW, PEOPLE.

With this, we’re almost finished with this project. At the risk of repeating myself [from this post] there’s still a lot to look forward to! New games are on the horizon, and new projects will always rear their heads.

But until then, this one is getting pretty close to finished!

It’s not perfect yet - there are still some issues that I’m having polishing and porting through. But I (and at least one very helpful playtester) have been able to make it through to the end of the story. This update leaves off right before the big fight with Calahree, because I’m not happy with how that turned out, and I want to be able to lead into the Epilogue with no issues for anyone who played through to the final boss.

Padget in Chapter 6 might act wonky - I’m not sure. There’s a scene where she disappears and comes back fat - it might not work. I’ll figure it out.

I’ve been told that Chapter 7 is punishing so I did what I could to make it a little easier on you. Gabby’s a little higher leveled and the Corrupted Wyvern in Chapter 7 has half health. I’ve also added an antidote item, and Heal now heals poison - oh and there’s a revive spell for Gabby in Chapter 7.

Okay! Now then. Onto some of the main features of this chapter.

The Dev Room is back up and running, mostly. I wasn’t able to include game clips because the game’s not done yet. But the other features in the dev room are up and running.

the Fight Club is now open! Grind to make those battles a little less difficult.

the Item shoppe is up and running, but the dialogue hasn’t been fully implemented yet. The scripting is a little complicated, so it’s still stuck in Chapter 1. You should still be able to buy things, though.

Dienro house is still closed off to all chapters except for Chapter 2. Again, the scripting gets complicated here, and I need to be able to make sure it works in the epilogue too. And since the epilogue hasn’t been written yet, the house will remain closed.

All of those maps above are “single” maps - meaning that they spit you back out in the chapter that you began in. And holy crap am I worried that it’s gonna spit you out in the wrong chapter and break the game. So let me know if this happens so that I can either fix the issue or patch the map shut again so that I can have time to fix the issue.

There are a couple of other things that I think y’all will like though! Again, not done, but getting really really close!

You should be able to, yes! Some of the Tia and Delilah stuff might get a little wonky since I’ve played around with the switches, but you should be able to progress through the story

In the land of the dead segment of the final chapter, I’m pretty sure I can’t progress, due to (I think) the path I’m supposed to go down, the path after where you fight the ghoul the first time east into what I remember being the entrance to the town. Also posted this on patreon, but now I also have screenshots!

hey, figured out what happened here - there was a conflict with the event pages. For future reference, the transporting happens at the three-block wide gate rather than going all the way down that trail. I’m setting it up to be player touch in this most recent patch, so just hold on there and walk back down the trail once you load the new version. You’ll be transported to Pandemonium that way.

There’s a new version of the demo out! Apparently the previous version caused map related issues when saving Remi in her grandmother’s basement in Chapter 2. This should be fixed now!

Theres a new problem when saving Remi in her grandmothers basement in chapter 2, yes map issue is fixed, now im stuck when defeating the fairies i cant move at all.

On it! Just patched it again - unchecked the “wait for completion” and ticked the “skip if cannot move” function for Ginny.

Theres loading error it says failed to load: data/Map013.json.

Please fix it.

I’m working with a couple of bugtesters to track down all of these map errors - there are a few of them caused by me purging unnecessary map data held over from the previous, unstreamlined version of the game from the file in hopes of shrinking it all down.

Don’t worry! I’ve already patched that map file problem, and I’m working on getting a few more done as we speak.

So far, between the Bugtesters and I, we’ve fixed over thirty bugs including two or three of these map issues.

I’m going to wait until we at least get through Chapter 3 to post another update to the demo and the main version - but we’re in the middle of Chapter 2 now.

This latest patch (v0.8.2.4/v0.4.8.5) patch fixes 50 issues - including missing maps in Chapters 2 and 3 that make the game unprogressive.

Freya’s House should be able to be delivered to and the map spasming out when teleported to view Malary’s house has been fixed.

We’re slowly working our way “up” the ladder, so there may be more. We’ll do our best to find them.

That didn’t take long lol. The Freya issue hasn’t quite been resolved yet.
Hold tight, and I’ll get another patch out soon.
