Well if you plan on doing that the best way to do it is either making that character suffer a fate in stirrs the first party member into action or they back stab them for reasons of personal gain or the antagonists had something on said temp member that forced him into that situation, bit of a cliche situation to happen but if done well enough can be quite the plot fuel for a side quest in the future.
oh have the second temp character get like… kidnapped or something.
So… “Expansion for hire” is the definitive name?
It’s looking that way at the moment.
just my two bits on the temp character why not have them be hired help that nopes the **** out after a story event? also question’s about the status effect’s. how will they effect gamplay? will the party be required to be under certain effect’s to pass certain puzzel’s/obsticals?
In order: Well the idea that I had was that Cherry was already a part of a guild filled with various people, and she’d be traveling with another guild member for her mission.
secondly, I would love to have the characters have specific conditions to solve puzzles and such, but I need to figure that out, and I’m gonna be doing just that starting next month after I decide a few more decisions and another poll about the character who joins Cherry in the first chapter.
Got some new character concepts for Cherry’s party member for the first chapter, follow the link to vote: but here are the designs right now:
Pick your favorite and that one will be cherry’s partner in the first chapter.
I really liked the dragon one, but the others are great, maybe in a future update that have an option to change your mate? and I’m really enjoying this game and how you doing a good job. but, I’m curious to know the lore behind the game, like the character world sees the costly growth as danger or is it a society that idolizes the big, greedy side of life?
To correct a few things: When I say partner and such, I’m not referring to a more intimate partner, at least not at this stage in development. I don’t mind that stuff, just not thinking about that part at the moment.
As for the lore, I don’t want to give too much away, but I’ll explain a few things in regards to your questions:
The world here has varied cultures, each of them with different views on the expansive side - Some see it as a burden, especially considering the working class (Characters like Cherry who need to rely on their mobility and don’t have any real talent in the magical arts), throw in the fact that decompressents (basically the items that shrink you down) are made up of rare magical materials and in turn being costly, the working class don’t really the means to enjoy that.
HOWEVER, there are cultures that 1) not only have an excess of said materials or 2) have a large amount of magic to them - which would remedy those issues, but the cost of living is high.
Throw in the fact that this is a world where monsters live and eat… you. Being out in the wild and being expansive would naturally make you a bigger target as well as slower.
That isn’t to say it’s all bad. Like I said, there are different cultures in the world, and I will say that there are a few that doe idolize the big, greedy side of life - In fact, there could possibly one kingdom, that may or may not have found a way to use greedy size to their advantage, and that’s not just making their enemies big, but finding that magic and expansion have a connection with each other.
Also, I’ll be doing weekly/bi-weekly Q and As about this project, so feel free to ask me whatever you’d like.
Winner of the poll
So, meet Bourbon, the Kobold Warrior.
so mad you mentioned you were new to rpgmaker and coding what resources do you know of that could help with devlopment?
Honestly, not sure.
I know that Yanfly has been a real great help providing plugins for a few things.
Also, here’s the player character, Bourbon the Kobold warrior.
well just to (try) help i will list a few things i know of
https://mvplugins.com/master-list
plug-in aggragate if you don’t like hunting stuff down
forum where people talk about this software could be useful to get help if needed err might be a good idea to keep it g rated though
i’m honistly surprised at the mention of yanfly i thought they retired and as last i heard there was some drama involing a script theif and yanfly went for the neuclar option and put a lot of their formerly free scripts behind a paywall
just a ps i forgot to mention there was a rpg maker thread on this site some where
I can’t wait for this game to come out keep up the great work!
My goal is an early alpha by the end of the year, but no promises.
I wonder… Could Bourbon be The Pc. a character that more ment to BE the player aka the protagonist with the other three being the team to the main character… if I said that right anyway
Unfortunately, I don’t want to do that.
Not with what I’ve got planned.
Also, basic sprite id done.
