Hi all, NatsuuMaki here (Formerly MakiFan53). This is a project I’ve been working on for the past few months - a full Doki Doki Literature Club fan game centered around the girls gaining weight - complete with original visuals, story, etc.
What I’m uploading here is just a short demo of Natsuki’s chapters, of which there will be three. This is a rough build, so everything is pretty subject to change at this time but this should give you a good idea of what’s to come. Dialogue choices do make some small differences in how the game goes, so you may have some different outcomes depending on how you play (just some dialogue + CG changes for now, lol).
I’m still pretty new to scripting so some things are certainly “bandaged” together just for the demo (if anybody wants to go critique my code, that would genuinely be appreciated lol) so while there shouldn’t really be any bugs, there are definitely things that could function better.
The link is temporarily down on account of the volume of people attempting to download the file at once. Personally I’d recommend uploading the demos/project to Itch to avoid that problem, since I don’t believe they have the same issue, and you don’t have to worry about file download restrictions that tend to be common with other file sharing services.
I may be mistaken, but I believe the reason itch was not used is because team salvato don’t allow DDLC fan games to be uploaded and distributed to itch, among other public platforms.
I just finished the demo, and it was really nice! I love how expressive she is, it really adds to the story. All the different body poses and facial expressions were very fun to look at. I also liked how in the couch scene you can move your mouse around a bit, it’s simple but it was fun. Oh, and getting to pick your name was a nice touch, too! There were a few grammar mistakes I noticed (“You” wasn’t capitalized in the sentence “you set out to work cleaning the kitchen”, and “on” could be added before cleaning to make it read a little better. And in the sentence “Well don’t finished it all before we get to decorate with it”, “finish” would work better than “finished”), but other than that it was very clean! I’m excited to see more from you, dude!
Thank you so much for the feedback! I’m glad you liked the sprites, I put a lot of work into them lol, although I actually plan on going back and reworking them for the full release. I wanna make them a bit more expressive (body-wise) and fit more into my current rendering style. Also I’m very glad you appreciated the parallax effect in the couch scene lol, that took me forever to figure out and I think it adds a lot to the sort of interactivity, which is what I really want to shoot for some more in the future. Thanks for catching the grammatical errors lol, I’ll definitely patch those out when I get to working on the project again!
I can’t wait to try it when the traffic dies down a bit lol. I’m still unable to download via the link, looks exciting though! Always been a fan of DDLC
