I’m so sorry to hear about your health taking a hit! I hope your recovery is quick and smooth, but in the mean time please don’t push yourself too hard! Your progress sounds promising though!
It’s been quite a long time without news. Let’s fix that.
Things are still a bit complicated, and I can’t work much these days. But I still try to do a little something everyday, even if it’s just one sprite. So I’m still making progress, it’s just very slow… Hopefully things will get better soon.
That being said, I’m not too far from being done with this update. I’ll do my best to release it before the end of the month, even though I can’t really promise anything. Also, along with the update, I’ll release a resource pack with every single sprite used to make the portrait of the characters. Graphics and sprites have been a big issue for me, and I know it is for a lot of other people who can’t make their own assets. So I hope my struggles will help at least a few people here!
Of course, it will be a work in progress. I’m not happy with some of the sprites I already made and plan to modify them a bit in the future, and there are still a lot more sprites that need to be done. So I will update this resource pack as I make progress on the game.
I apologize for the lack of news on my side. I’m going through some hard times, and to be perfectly honest this project is not my priority at the moment. But I’m not forgetting it either, and I’m doing my best to find a bit of time every day to work on it at least a little.
We’re all super excited for the next update, but please don’t worry about when you get it out! Everyone has rough times in their life, and we’re rooting for you!
The update is (finally) up!
The main feature are the sprites, which are mostly finished. I’m not very happy with some of them so I will most certainly make some modifications here and there, but it’s good enough for now. I haven’t posted the resource pack yet, but it will be added to the itchio page later today.
I also finished the Tetris minigame. It’s not much and I only had time to add one game mode… But I have a few ideas for other game modes to spice it up a bit. I also need to add music, sound effects and stuff, but it’ll do for now.
I started working on the clothes, but the feature is not functional yet. But I have the inventory part ready as well as the UI, so all that’s missing are the sprites and the code that handles them.
Finally, I fixed number of bugs, like the one that prevented to talk with NPCs when their relation level was maxed, and cleaned some code.
Next, I’ll work on a new NPC and more NPC-related events, as wall as a new place or two. I’ll also keep working on the clothes
And to finish, happy new year Weight Gaming!
It’s been awhile since you posted the last update, but I just wanted to say that everything in the update is great! The only small gripe I have is that whenever you’re playing the tetris minigame and you speed up the piece falling it’s incredibly easy to accidentally drop multiple pieces at once, which can have disastrous results. Perhaps adding a slight pause between a new piece spawning and it starting to fall would be a good idea? Assuming it’s not too much trouble of course.
On a related note I’m really hyped for what’s to come based on some of the wip sprites in the resource folder! You’re doing great, and I hope your situation improves (and if it’s already started to I hope it gets better even faster)!
Thank you for the feedback! Having an update without game breaking glitches feels pretty good. I think adding a slight delay in Tetris minigame shouldn’t be too hard, I’ll see what I can do.
I’m always glad to help, especially with such a great game that lets you stuff cute girls without making weight gain mandatory!
could you maybe recontinue the Codename Debu game in the future? its one of the first weight gain games i ever played and i really want to be able to play more then just the old demo also is it just me or did the account and demo leave the deviant art website?
Well, Debucon is kind of the same game really, except this time it’s made with the right tools and I’m working on it by myself. Regarding the deviantart account, I wasn’t the one who made it and I don’t have the credentials so I can’t update it, but yeah it’s been pretty much abandoned along with the project.
Quick question, how is your not-tetris difficulty determined? One day I’ll be playing on hard difficulty and the next drop back to easy. Makes it hard to get the money you need when that keeps happening
Your’s drop? mine’s on constant hard. pause
For now it should be random. It’ not exactly finished yet, just functional. I’ll add a quick-and-dirty difficulty selection menu in the next version.
Hey. Sorry, but Can you help? No matter what i do relation meter wouldn’t go past 8.50
I binge ran till max capacity in a night LOL can’t wait to see an update with other clothes options
For the first few days, the relation meter will only increase once a day. If you try talking to Emma again tomorrow, it’ll increase by another 8.5.
I really need to rework the tutorial to explain things a bit better…
But that’s the thing. I should’ve said that in my first comment, sorry
(;ŏ﹏ŏ)
I’ve been talking to her for like five days and the meter stayed at the same 8.50 mark
Could you send me your save file? It should be in appdata\local\debucon\savefiles. I’ll try o see what could be happening.
Also for clarity, when I say days, I’m talking about actual days. Using the bed doesn’t move the game one day forward.
Oh… You mean real time days… Then sorry…
For some reason i thought that it was in game days
Sorry (тт)
No worries, as I said I need to explain it a bit better in-game. I don’t even think it’s explained anywhere.
It has been a while since the last news update and I have a bit of free time, so… Impromptu status update, let’s go!
I have been working on the inventory, tweaking the code a little bit and adding every items I wanted to add. Right now, the inventory is complete, with 77 different food items.
Having a lot of items just for the sake of having a lot of items doesn’t bring much added value, so that’s not the only new thing that will come with the next version. I also added a crafting system in the form of a cooking menu.
Some of the different foods in the game can be crafted by combining different ingredients. This will allow you to transform seemingly useless items into more interesting ones, save money by cooking some items instead of buying them, or even get your hands on items that can exclusively be obtained through this method.
The items also have different properties, that will be used when gifting them to other NPCs. Just like Emma, all other NPCs will have their own tastes. Emma likes sweets and chocolate, while NPC#2 will like Asian cuisine and NPC#3 will be more into greasy food. Your character will also have their own taste, but more on that later.
Now, for what I haven’t finished yet, but is planned. Along with cooking, I will start to introduce skill levels. These are some stats that you can improve by using the different functionalities of the game. For example, you can improve your cooking skill by cooking food, or your fitness skill by using the sports equipment in your room. These skills will allow you to unlock more content and dialog options with some NPCs.
I’ll also add a couple status effects related to the character’s mood. Some of the new items are pretty unbalanced at first glance; for example, some of the new items are cooking oil or baking powder, which are respectively the best items for gaining and stuffing by a large margin… The downside would be that these items are not very pleasant to eat, so if you make your character eat those, her mood is going to go down. If her mood goes too low, it will impact your experience: some elements will be restricted, and a couple new ones might open if torture is your thing. But on the other hand, if you feed your characters with food she likes, her mood will brighten!
I’m also working on adding a new NPC. That new NPC will sometimes replace Emma at the store, and when that happens, Emma will appear at another new location. This will unlock a few new dialogs, and the possibility to invite Emma over at your place, as well as the “questline” to convert her into a feedee or a feeder. I have not started working on this yet, but I have a few ideas. Regarding the new NPC, interactions will be limited for now as I would rather focus on Emma for the time being and have a first finished NPC before I start working on another one. So for now, it’ll be a placeholder NPC with the bare minimum dialogs.
And finally, I am currently working on the sprites for the clothes. Right now, I’m ~midway through finishing the sprites for the underwears. It’s going fairly fast, but with everything else I have planned I think it’ll be the only two pieces of clothing I’ll add to the next version. Shirts and trousers will have to wait until version 0.7.
And that is all I have to report for now. I’m aiming for late March for the 0.6 release. We’ll see how it goes!
