Quality of Life Recommendations:

  1. Double-Click to use from right-side menu, in addition to being able to drag food/clothing.
  2. Entering numbers into store to bulk purchase, rather than repetitively clicking an item’s counter.

One of your saves might be corrupted. It’s pretty rare, but it can happen. You can look through your save files and try opening them with a text editor of your choice, and if one of them is empty delete the file.

I need to put some backup system to avoid data loss… It’s on my to do list, but since it’s very random and not a common occurrence it was not a big priority. I’ll try to work on that for the next version.

want to add to suggestion 2, being able to hold the up or down arrow to select amount, currently you can only click one at a time

That would be a lot simpler than an input field, Game Maker really isn’t great at handling those. Can definitely do that.

Maybe in versions of the game with a more established economy with the different types of resources (money, food, affection points, clothes(?), relationship states) more well defined, the difficulties of handling the realtime schedule could be mitigated by letting the player unlock ways to move characters to specific locations?

For example, maybe you could give Emma something or use up affection (to a limited extent) to convince her to give Jenny a day off if you needed to do something with Jenny outside her usual schedule.

Yup, that’s planned. There will be a character that’ll give you information on the NPCs whereabouts ; where you can find them, how long they plan to stay, where they’ll go next… I might also add a cellphone to contact NPCs you have befriended.

I looked at all of my save files. None of them are empty in notepad.

Edit: I figured out the problem. It was compressed/zipped save file that was still in the directory that was causing the issue.

Good catch, I’ll make sure to ignore all files that are not .sav in the next version. Thanks!

Can’t believe I missed this, glad you’re doing better! Been having fun doing a fresh replay. Are there any specific events you have to complete to get Jenny to come over (if she even can at this point)

I’ve talked to her at the bar a few times and done drinks with her and got the friend and drinks events listed in debug, but I haven’t seen her anywhere else yet after a few days now.

And yeah, you can get her to come over. I think it just requires very high friendship. Gotta give her food if she’ll take it and keep pestering her - she’s more forgiving of that than Emma.

When she’s at the club she accepts drinks although it doesn’t actually take them out of your inventory or seem to have a limit which seems unintentional. Any idea what sort of affection you need? I have 38 and she won’t take anything outside of that specific scenario, although she does respond (mostly) friendly now when I talk to her.

I just double-checked, it doesn’t seem to have changed since 0.8.0. But I agree there could be a couple more reactions here and there… I’ll add some in the next version.

There should be another event when you reach 50, then you can invite her. And I’ll take a look at the drink gifting oddities you raised, I’ll have it fixed in the next version.


Tired Status has no feed dialogue, and it just shows an empty speech bubble in game

Yeah I know, it was like this in the previous version. I’ll need to write more lines.

However it should not show an empty dialogue, when there’s no option available it should fall back to the default lines.

Right now I’m still migrating to the LTS version of Game Maker and making sure everything still works as expected. There were a few hiccups here and there, but overall it could have been a lot worse. Next month I’ll start working on implementing a new palette swap solution to make sprite management a bit easier, and then I’ll work on the big task: new outfit sprites, which may take a lot of time.

So there’s a lot of work, and I can only work on this on my free time (and I’ll be honest, with Monster Hunter Wilds releasing in a few days, March may not be a very productive month). So I have genuinely no idea when I’ll be able to release the next version, best I can say is a few months from now.

Not sure if I messed something up on my end but I think Jenny’s feeder arc has ended up broken for me somehow. I was finally able to get the initial scene and she left, had the follow up conversation in the bar but after that despite having the jenny feeder first time event flag it seems she’s just reverted to her old behavior with the lines about your apartment. Even if you talk to her stuffed she doesn’t react and just leaves eventually.

This time I did try and do things pretty much as intended, although I did abuse decrease fullness a bit to speed up the feeder progress, if that could have busted something. I’ll try a different character to go through the events properly again when I have the time but here’s the save file if you feel like taking a look.

I’ll take a look. Could you also share the npc.sav file, in your savefiles/common folder? So I can also see Jenny’s stats.
