Dwarf Fortress Mods?

This was just something I was curious if it existed. I’ve never played Dwarf Fortress, but I saw someone on twitter posting about their Dwarf Fortress save with fat kobolds, & got curious if it was worth the purchase with mods. If anyone knows if it even has or has good fat mods to it. I looked briefly, & with my limited knowledge of this game it looks as if even furry species mods were hard to come across, or I might just me incompetent when looking for these kinda mods.

I haven’t looked into fat mods myself, but if you’re the type of person that wants a direct hand in fattening certain characters up then this game might not be for you. With that being said, I still personally believe it’s a project worth supporting so I won’t tell you it’s a waste of money.

I don’t know of any weight gain mods that exist, sorry. I think it’s at least possible to mod the game but custom sprites for weight stages might be an issue.

sprites would probably be a hassle, but I might at least take a look into it, doesn’t sound impossible to work it in

if I were you though, I’d first look into what kinda game it is and whether you’d like it in the first place. I personally love it, but won’t deny there’s a learning curve and that it REALLY isn’t a game meant for everyone.
a mod like this really wouldn’t save it if the base game doesn’t speak to you to begin with

Characters can gain (and lose) weight in both Fortress and Adventure mode as a base mechanic, complete with multiple stages of text descriptions and all the relevant in-game effects you’d expect. However, you have limited control over this in Fortress mode aside from assigning select characters less physically intensive jobs (there is no “do this now” order like in Rimworld), and in Adventure mode it seems to require genuine dedication and effort (almost as slow as real-life).

Additionally, you can only play as Dwarves in Fortress mode, and pretty much any race except Kobolds in Adventure mode (though you cannot be a Hero or Chosen if that race hasn’t been officially integrated into society via that world’s world generation). Though both modes have historically had mods that change those restrictions.

As for how to mod it for fetish purposes? I’m not certain. Much of the relevant parts are old enough and unimportant enough that they’re probably still hard-coded. I don’t think food even has calorie values - as far as the game is concerned, from a nutritional standpoint, food is food. It -may- be possible to add a tab to the character profile UI with a more detailed description of a character’s weight and even add art, though the latter would certainly be a mountain of work. There may also be some potential for modded syndromes (the game’s structure for irritants, venoms, and poisons).

Well I was assuming that I was going to download a bunch of mods from the steam workshop. The person I originally saw on twitter said they turned kobolds into a playable species using mods, & they also mentioned there was mentions of weight on stats screens & whatnot but not including sprite art which I’m fine with. With mods it seems completely fine even though it’s not meant for this odd kind of gameplay at all, just the learning curve is probably going to be the most challenging I guess.
