Itâs been too long since weâve been able to talk about new designs. I will provide my completely unwarranted and unhelpful thoughts now.
- Shark: Solid design, although the blue colors combined with her chonk and the shape of her tail suggest more âwhaleâ than âshark.â That said, itâs clever how the stripes on her shirt evoke gills. I donât think thisâll win, but Iâve been wrong before. However, if she wins, but she doesnât fight with an anchor, I will burn down a government building.
- Survivalist: This one gives off âcrazy hobo who rolled up to the fight unannounced and unwanted and is only kept around because everyoneâs scared of herâ vibes. The colors and outfit make her feel a little plain, which is the only real complaint I can make. Winning designs tend to be more colorful, engineer notwithstanding.
- Celt: Not sure where a celt found a tiger hide, but maybe she bagged it after an ill-conceived one-night-stand with George of the Jungle. Probably the barbarian-est barbarian here, and an easy winner for that reasonâthe winners tend to line up with what people expect of the class. Those blue tats are gonna draw a lot of attention to her belly when she gains weight, and I think thatâll help her earn some votes.
- Barmaid: Interesting choice, for sure, but thereâs some merit to nuance. She looks like she just has one asscheek hanging out, which speaks volumes about the tavern she works at, but more importantly, it could activate some neurons in the ass men among us. The color blocking isnât hurting her, either.
- John Halo from Halo: Is this a good design? Yes. Does it fit in ETD? I wouldnât really say so. She kinda clashes with everyone else here, and I donât think sheâll pull through for that reason. Sheâd have a much better shot if this were a sci-fi game.
- Dwarf: Pretty straightforward, which, again, gives her a decent chance. However, she comes off as a bit more plain than most other designs here, so she jumps out a lot less among the other options.
- Tiger: Looking super fierce will either help her in this contest, or itâll turn some voters away because she looks like sheâs hopped up on something. She kinda comes off as a monk-barbarian multiclass. Still a decent design, so I wonât count her out.
- Elf: Wouldâve had a better shot in another class vote. She comes off more as a knight, warrior, or maybe trickster or spellsword. Sheâs not bad by any means, but I donât expect her to win.
- Scot: Another pretty straightforward âbarbarian,â and another Celt. Sheâs more colorful, though, and she pops off the screen a bit more. Iâd definitely keep an eye on her, sheâll probably do well.
- Magical Warrior: In the same spot as Elf. I have little else to say.
- Hobgoblin: Alas, I donât think there are enough goblin lovers to make this happen. Her design is well thought out, I just donât think she has enough mass appeal to win. Perhaps one day.
- Pirate: Another unconventional design direction, but it works. Sheâs a pirateâŚvampire? Anyway, she fits the theme and I donât think anyone here will whine about a tall blonde with her fat gut hanging out. The edgy, not-quite-goth-but-in-that-general-direction look may take her places.
About that⌠Are you familiar with the concept of attaching shark teeth to wood to make a sword?
Yâknow in retrospect, shouldâve modelled her after a tiger shark. Since they eat, no exaggeration, everything, itâd make her belly that much more reasonable and make it possible for her to be unexpectedly friendly little thing even if sheâs aggressive, much how the Snake was modelled after a Death Adder in terms of âthick bodyâ. 'Eh, lots of sharks have the same colouration, nothing stopping us from making that connection now.
Also, the tip her tail used to be more whale-like, we fixed that pretty early on.
And no matter, even though the Hobgoblin wonât win, we still have two more chances with the Boar Rider and the Grenadier.

well that was unexpected, looks like the shark has a challenger.
It seems that way, but personally hope not. Still a smidge salty over the White Rabbitâs defeat, so hoping the Shark makes it in. Especially since I put seven entries into this class, so Iâd bloody well hope one of them is well received.
But even then, itâs still okay as long as the Goblin Alchemist and the Bunny get a positive reception, thatâs all that matters. ⌠Then again, this isnât actually complaining since most of said designs werenât really designed to be good Barbarians or get many votes, more âhey, I think this is a cool concept but Barbarianâs probably the class that fits the best out of the remaining ones.â Realistically, that Elven Royal Guard would fit better in the Knight category (was voted on LONG before her creation) while both the Survivalist and probably Hobgoblin would probably work as Raiders.
