Eat The Dungeon General Discussion

I appreciate your diplomatic approach, but allow me to offer a counter: Wolf girls are best of the three. Just my opinion.

Hi, first time poster, I adore this game, had to make an account just to tell you how good it is.

Although this game is basically flawless, I have a couple of QOL suggestions. Although the tutorial does tell you that power gained from being fat is capped at double the power, it is occasionally not explicitly clear that a character has reached the “maximum.” Because visual fatness for characters stops somewhere around the 1700s or so, it takes a while before they reach the power cap and it is difficult to coordinate speedrunning through levels when you aren’t sure of where their power actually “caps.” You end up having to memorise the individual power statistics of your characters pretty often, which is not a deal-breaker or anything, but does feel jarring for two reasons- first, because your character has no visual indicator, background or spite, that they’ve hit their power cap, and two, because the maximum cap is often several orders of magnitude higher than their highest visual weight.

My solution is this: Once each character has been added and given all of their weight levels, there should be a “final, max size” that indicates to the player that character has hit their power cap. The power cap for my Illusionist (and I don’t know if it’s dynamic or not) stops at around 11000-13000 weight. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a new weight stage (because I understand that trying to reflect that kind of size requires an entirely new sprite plus all the stuffing levels for each character- stuffing levels in my opinion could honestly be reduced a little, I think there are five for each character and there probably don’t need to be more than three or even two- one when over 50% and one when KO’d- that should free up a little space for newer sizes, no?~) so at the bare minimum the background could change to indicate to the player that they’ve reached the maximum benefit for getting fat.

Now, I understand that outside of the additional work, other players might take issue with the idea of characters getting even fatter than they already are at their maximums, so what if these sizes were a reward for getting an S in every course? Make people work for it and help balance the game at the same time. Hell, could even go a step further and implement some sort of “optional visual size” where you can choose exactly what weight stage the character visually stops gaining weight, for example I know some people have took umbrage with the Witch’s “last” weight stage where her boobs block out her face, which is a shame because her expression is very cute.

I’m just spitballing ideas, and I won’t lie that it mostly just comes from my love of blobs, but I understand that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so hopefully we can have options so everyone gets what they’re looking for.

Lastly, can we get a “replay level” feature? I can blitzkrieg Golem Army in under 6 seconds, but a lot of that downtime is having to back out of the extraction screen and back into the level because my build is such that I never actually have to extract weight until around my illusionist hits around 280,000, whereupon my strategy stops working. (illusionist top left corner, warrior top right, knight bottom left, illusionist attacks knight resets illusionist and warrior’s timer, illusionist attacks, warrior resets knight timer, repeat)

This is an incredibly well made and entertaining game even outside of its fetishistic nature, and I think you should be very proud of yourself for making a game like this I actually find myself playing for fun more often than not. Thank you for your hard work!

Not part of this list, but out of all the vixens I’ve seen out there, my favorite probably has to be Akagi, from Azur Lane.

I’ve only heard of 4 of them, and if she were more proportionate to a human, Fidget for sure. One of my favorite exchanges between her and Dust: “Wait…did you just?” “Hmm?” “Did you just put that thing in your inventory?” (referring to a sheep) “Yeah. What?” (Completely unbothered) “Okay then” (Dragged out as more of an “oookay…”)

What browser and device are you using? Try opening the developer tools with CTRL+SHIFT+I and see if there are any errors

This is a good point, but I think I’d rather solve it in a more simple way.

The game is supposed to default to the last level you played, but only after you’ve beaten all the levels, including the bonus levels. Please let me know if this isn’t happening.

Maybe reflect it in the numbers themselves? Once they’ve hit their cap maybe the numbers could change to a gold or something along those lines?

It does do that, which is great, but I was thinking more along the lines of a replay button appearing immediately after the level is beaten, skipping the extraction screen and level select entirely.

Yeah I think something like that

Hmm possibly

My only gripe about our new ranger is that’s she not foxy enough- I’m a weirdo like that.

I’m hoping Scryer’s bunny rabbit can get the votes she deserves whenever her class comes around!

After thinking about it, I thought I’d perhaps give my thoughts on each if the 4 stats you can level up within the game: Power, Speed, Metabolism, and Capacity. The reason I decided to bring these stats up is because levelling up a stat inherently has benefits and hinderances to doing so.

Power:
(+) The character deals more damage to the enemy(ies)
(+) The extra power you get from gaining weight is double this stat
(+) Basically necessary to upgrade at least some
(-) Hitting harder means you will get KO’d more quickly
(-) For characters that are unable to support, Upgrading this will eventually mean nothing because you can already one-shot everything with your attack type.

Here is a list of each character’s base power for those wondering:

Thief: 1
Warrior: 2
Priestess: 3
Witch: 4
Bard: 2
SpellBlade: 1
Knight: 2
illusionist: 0
Engineer: 1
Ranger: 1

Speed:
(+) Probably the overall most important stat to max out later on
(+) Characters recover from their cool-downs quicker as this is upgraded
(+) The amount faster in a percentage, meaning the stat is still very impactful (if not more impactful) at higher weights.
(-) Lower cool-downs means a character will be moving more often, meaning you will get KO’d more quickly
(-) The only stat that eventually caps, and upgrading it further does nothing. (Speed caps at 95% lowered, achieved by upgrading speed to level 300)

Here is a list if each character’s base speed for those wondering:

Thief: 0.2 sec
Warrior: 0.8 sec
Priestess: 1.2 sec
Witch: 3 sec
Bard: 1.2 sec
SpellBlade: 0.2 sec
Knight: 1 sec
illusionist: 7.2 sec
Engineer: 3.6 sec
Ranger: 0.6 sec

Metabolism:
(+) the character digests weight quicker, meaning that that they won’t be KO’d for as long, if that does happen (and trust me, it more than likely will happen)
(+) Even upgrading this stat only once can make a very noticeable difference, so it doesn’t need to be upgraded nearly as much as the other stats in order to be at a good level.
(-) Digesting weight quicker means that having a higher metabolism stat will noticeably slow down your character, so usually you don’t want to upgrade this stat to be too high. This con can be a pretty big deal at times.

Capacity:

(+) A higher capacity stat means that a character needs more weight for that character to get KO’d.
(+) Getting KO”d is a chance, a chance that depends on what your character’s capacity stat is, since a KO can only happen in the first place if what a character has eaten (that hasn’t yet been digested) has exceeded this stat, and is only guaranteed if you go equal to or over double this stat
(-) While this stat means that you need more weight to get KO’d, that very fact means that your character will be KO’d for longer than they otherwise would be if they do get KO’d.

‘+’ and ‘-’ both get formatted to bullet points when at the beginning of a sentence. You will need to do something to prevent that, because as your post is now I can’t tell what you consider a positive vs a negative.

Yea, sorry didn’t notice until just now. if it helps, the pros always came first, and the cons came last

Well, one way to fix it is to put the plus and minus in parenthesis, like this:

(+) Pro
(-) Con
