Fat Fleet out now!

Our first project in three years is finally out for everyone to try! If you love the old days of arcade fixed shooter games and want to experience a new recipe of fun (or simply adore growing big from eating waves of enemies), this is the game for you~

Very good game! Gameplay loop is easy to learn but hard to master and sprites are very good too! But in my opinion all forms above 72 are almost impossible to dodge or beat bosses in time (espesialy on chunky chocolate). I think it would be nice to add little passive regeneration on gp in bigger forms so there is a chance to block attacks.

As demonstrated in the intro, you can press Down/X to use a special ability that reflects enemy bullets, as long as you have enough GP. Hope this helps!

Yeah i know how to use special ability but i am talking about situation like on image below where you need constant special ability uses or otherwise you lose

It requires strategy and skill. Admittedly, those specific flavors are a bit of a pain by themselves, which can lead to doomed situations when you’re trapped in a large size (and this may be adjusted in a later update), but the best advice I can give currently is to target those flavors first.

Oh, this is a very well made game. Thank you very much for uploading it. I just wanted to ask for a couple of changes or ask for advice if I’m doing something wrong:

  1. Unfortunately for me really hard to understand exact hitbox area for main character on her different weight stages. Would be nice to at least see it somewhere on pictures in menu, so I can remember it. First I thought her whole body sprite is hitbox area, but that isn’t true.
  2. I think it would be nice to make main character burp ability which reflect projectiles work on bigger area depending on which weight stage character currently has. It feels like even when she has huge body her burp ability hitbox area still too small to defend her whole body correctly. Maybe it is big enough, but I continue to fail to use it correctly since I don’t know exact body hitbox area.
  3. I tried to find where is a “vore” fetish in this game and what is “BFB 9000”, but I didn’t find it
  1. The heart on Sally’s tummy represents the hitbox. I suppose I could have made that more clear.
  2. I suppose it is a bit misleading… I’ll see about a buff in a future update.
  3. To use BFB 9000, hold Up/Z when you have full GP, then press Down/X to launch a massive burp bubble. As for the vore… that one’s a secret you’ll have to find on your own~

This game is great, I feel like the mechanics used here typically wouldn’t work well with weight gain, but I was pleasantly surprised. I’d love to see more content as well, but what’s already here is really excellent. I especially loved the inclusion of stuff like “always growing” in the cheat menu, and I’d really like to see more modifiers like that where the game is totally changed by just a simple adjustment like that one.

However, I do agree with the sentiment that higher weight stages do feel fairly unplayable. I understand the intent where there’s risk/reward and that you’re supposed to defend yourself with the special, but I think it could be adjusted. Considering the fact that the speed at which you charge the burp is relatively slow and you literally can’t generate any more during boss fights, it’s incredibly easy to run out and die at really high weights.

And on that note, I found it a bit odd that the bosses attack purely with bullets. I would love to see the weight gain mechanics integrated into their fights more, instead of just “if you’re too big going against this boss you’re gonna die.” Maybe if there was some way to reduce/gain weight during fights, this could be solved, or if bosses leaned more into making you fatter and easier to hit with some of their attacks. These are just a few ideas, but overall I think it would be really cool if the weight mechanics were much more dynamic when facing bosses instead of just dodging exclusively normal attacks.

I also think that another great addition that hopefully wouldn’t be too much work is alternative game modes of some sort. I said earlier that I really liked the small adjustments that entirely change how things are played, and I think that something like that could definitely be applied here. If there was a mode, for example, that caused enemy bullets to instead cause weight gain but then changed immobility to a fail state, the mechanics would be completely flipped on their head. Being forced to dodge every single thing on the screen to avoid getting fat would be really challenging, but I think it would be a really fun change of pace.

Anyways, I hope these suggestions help with potentially adding stuff in the future outside of new characters. The game is still great regardless of what comes next, though, so well done with what’s already here.

Amazing game, I enjoyed what was available. However I do have one little gripe, I tried enabling the custom sprites and I can’t seem to get them to work, even with the little guide in the custom folder. Is there a reason to this or am I just not understanding clearly…

Quite fun! Enjoyed finding the vore optional, took me a bit just because of lining things up, but very enjoyable! Can’t wait to see more characters if you add them in the future!

Are they in the “custom” folder, and not in any subfolders? They should work as long as they’re labelled correctly…

Thank you so much for the comprehensive review! Hopefully at least some of these issues will be dealt with in future updates. We have a lot to consider, but we’ll do our best to make this game as enjoyable as can be.

By the way, I really like the idea of immobility being a fail state in a specific game mode! We may implement that in a coming update…

how do the custom character sprites work?
I can’t seem to figure out where I can turn them on in game

oh I see, you just put them in the custom file, and then they overwrite once in game if you have Custom Sprites turned on

coconut doesnt seem to destroy other cakes near it like it says in the cakeiary

Having the full Pie shoot upward and sideways is a little pointless, and the triple shot not dropping anything makes it the “worst enemy in the game” because it is just there and the reward for killing it is it dies, which being one of the hardest that is a feel bad moment,

you could have the full Pie move left and right across the whole screen and shot in a 45 Degree Left, Down, 45 Degree Right, Pattern (staggered not all at once) giving it a space ship vibe

the Triple Shot Pie could be slowed down but should probably give a reward, it could be a faster attack speed ability, but it should drop something

Yeah, the game likes to throw unwinnable combos at you, and managing a hurtbox THAT big is just silly in a game where you only get like 3 hits before it ends.
The heart hurtbox shouldn’t grow that big that fast, your only savior sometimes is just to hope you get lucky and get the cakes that drop the weight loss thing, and the rewards for getting to the max size aren’t REALLY enticing enough to justify risking yourself that much to get there.

There’s a bug where it just doesn’t happen sometimes. GameMaker can be a little frustrating…

If by “vore”, do you mean the gum attack? I mean we’re already eating all the enemies anyway.

Semi-related, the gum boss doesn’t spawn in the regular arcade mode outside of the mode with random foods, the game just cycles back and forth between the chocolate boss and the… jell-o boss?

I’ve seen her in the normal arcade mode several times.

got it a lot of times during 700k run so i think it just unlucky occurance since boss spawn is randomised
