I got in the ck2 mood again, so I figured I’ve kept everyone waiting long enough, I finally got a functional succession law working now. It functions like the Imperial Elective where all the elector’s votes are weighted based on their attributes. Naturally, it mostly focuses on whether you have the gluttonous or hedonist traits and how fat the character is. I’ll probably release a quick update to the mod fairly soon with this added in. (doesn’t mean that development is back in full swing, to be clear.)
So that’s where the name of the mod comes from…
heh, weighted…
In all seriousness though it’s nice to see this still getting updates. I keep meaning to learn how to mod this game so I could add localisation, even if just for myself, but alas I am lazy.
Hey, I’m starting a new game tonight and wanted to ask if the bloodline has been implemented in the current version, and if so, what the criteria for it is?
And if helpful, I can report it works with the Elder Kings overhaul.
Thanks for this mod btw, really been enjoying it!
really? I thought it wouldn’t be compatible with Elder Kings out of the box, that’s good to hear
But to answer your question, no I don’t have any bloodlines in the mod yet, but I was probably going to be adding that while I’m loosely working on the mod right now. I’ve already added a great work (grand feast hall. currently just causes weight gain to the holder and all courtiers and vassals with two unique upgrades that focus on more weight for the owner their family, and another for all courtiers and vassals).
Hm. I envisioned that as more of an improvement to be added to your Capital holding.
those are the current upgrades I’ve got. I got more interesting ones in the pipeline that trigger events or have more functionality. I also want that public feast hall upgrade to also give all direct vassals access to the events and decisions as if they owned the building themselves.
Someone should see if this works with the big Game of Thrones mod. There’s a morsel on Rhaenyra Targaryen’s Wiki of Ice and Fire page in the section that describes her appearance. It makes me picture her with a nice big fat belly and I wish it was depicted in House of the Dragon.
“Rhaenyra never lost weight gained from pregnancies, and she had grown stout and thick of waist at the age of twenty after her third pregnancy.”
Started some work on a new tributary type and matching cb for it for those that own the Horse Lords expansion. They don’t help with wars or give any money, prestige, or piety, but they do trigger an event causes the tributary and every adult in their realm to lose 5 weight (giving up a large portion of their food), and the suzerain gets an event letting them choose what to do with the tributary’s food. They can eat it themselves (and optionally family members, leaving most of it for waste. Lowers tributary prestige and raises suzerain weight and prestige), throw a huge feast for all vassals and courtiers (they all gain weight with the liege), give it to the peasants (lower national revolt risk), or just put the food into your personal storage.
How much food you get is determined by the trbutary’s rank, as well as if they are either tribal or nomadic.
If your character gains 200 weight from tributary food extortions and becomes immobile, you will get a bloodline if holy fury is installed.
yo its been a while since i played this, are all the descriptions written out? i remember when i played instead of dialogue or descriptions i kept just getting text like “med_weighy_eat_event” and thats it
No, at least nothing that’s been released. Although I imagine that would be the last thing on the list because there’s no point localising everything if you end up changing/removing different mechanics or events.
I personally think they should be filled in soon, preferably as part of the next update. There’s just way too much placeholder text. Some descriptions don’t even have anything in them at all. It’s a little immersion-breaking.
I also noticed that a few of the traits are showing up on the character cards as unhighlightable empty spaces, they only show up in the Character Finder Menu.
@failmuseum On the subject of that, if you would like to enlist some assistance in filling in all that placeholder text with stomach growls-inducing flavor text… I can certainly oblige. As my credentials, I have experience in writing fanfiction… a bit of which, is even Weight Gain fanfiction.
I cannot get the event windows to be larger, am I missing something to do it?
it’s only for specific events, are some of them being cropped or something?
Like the weighing, events are always cut off for instance
Been playing around with the mod for a while now, got back into it recently. I like the core concept and it really works well, even with overhaul mods like Elder Kings. I even got around to tweaking some things more to my liking in the settings, and while I’ve been having some luck with it, I have gotten hung up on it, specifically on localization (or at least I think it is). I was hoping that you could kind of point me in the right direction about either doing what I want to do (modify in game events/descriptions, for stuff like the body parts or for the notification descriptions) or if failing that, you could point me in the right direction on where you learned it from, so I can teach myself.
Also, any news on the next update or when it might release? Love the mod, keep up the awesome work.
Look at the CK2 Wiki for how to mod CK2. Quick explanation is CK2 basically adds/replaces the ck2 files with the modded ones. Really only need a simple text editor of your choice to edit the files. I believe not all the localization were written out for Fatocracy, and would just have to go through to add what is missing.
Having tried to do that already, there’s more to it than simply changing the localisation files to produce different messages. Quite what that “more to it” is I’m not sure because I never followed up on it, but you can’t just change one file to replace the placeholder localisation.
Also @Thelurker87 it’s against the rules to ask for updates, and even if you think your wording doesn’t count as that it’d probably still get reported.
Formatting is everything with ck2 mod files, localization’s have a specific format, see wiki page on it, the default settings in excel will not open and save a csv localization file correctly if memory serves me correctly when i modded Fatocracy quite while ago. From the wiki on how to fix this:
Excel
Important note: If your system uses English number separators (i.e. comma for thousands, period for decimal places) then Excel won’t be able to load or save localisation data. To fix this, go to Excel > Excel Options > Advanced and un-check the “Use System Separators” option. Then change the Decimal Separator to comma. This causes Excel to use semicolons instead. You can toggle the System Separators box whenever you need to do other work in Excel.
While not as visually appealing notepad or something like notepad++ is the more straight forward way to make sure you get all the special characters and formatting correct.
Without digging through the wiki for the details of how all enabled mods are added during startup, i don’t know ck2s exact rules for which folder, file, or event; with the same name is picked. I do know active mods always superseded ck2 itself, however modding a mod idk about. I always just edited mods directly. I do know if you write two events with the same name the last one read over in the file during import, is the version the game uses.
To finish out all of the localizations for Fatocracy it would be necessary to go through all the files and find all of the tags?(identifing name for the localizations) to put in the localization files with the text that is supposed to appear. With ck2 the description and titles of the events DO NOT GO in the event but in the localization files with a tag? left in the event that is used to look up said localization.
