My first game, a work in progress. Playable in browser.
some assets are still not made and there are obvious QOL things missing (a reshuffle feature, a “quit to menu” button, etc) but it’s playable.
Basically candy crush with a side of fat girls.
Version 0.2:
Took inspiration from comments here and added girl 5 as a kitsune
also, slowed down the matching/falling animations, and added a sound effect.
Version 0.3:
I added two new girls. Check them out.
Version 0.4:
Added a main menu button, limited moves, obstructions at higher levels, as well as a “favorite flavor” mechanic. I also buffed the points gained from cascading matches, so playing around combos is now more powerful.
Version 0.5:
Some QOL updates and balance changes, hopefully this makes girl 7 hard enough to fail. There’s actually a game over screen now instead of a soft-lock condition.
Looks good so far. Art style shows promise. The game seems to work fine as is but it feels like the candies disappear and fall too quickly after you match 3. I’d also recommend adding a gallery mode so you can easily see the sprites and endings for girls you’ve already beaten.
Honest to god if you just make an intentionally place holder themed character that’d be hilarious. Like you draw the character but maybe some things are missing, or the layers aren’t right, things like that. I have no idea if that’s your type of humor or not but that kind of silly creativity is always a welcome sight for me.
No more weights most likely. I am not personally a fan of sizes much bigger than what’s pictured for the CG art ( I think girl 3 gets the biggest? ) but I am down to make some more girls. I’ve written it such that it is trivially easy to add more girls.
I might take a crack at @moonslashx ‘s Idea of a gag placeholder character… though not sure what that will look like
I like the placeholder girl, I think you did a good job with the concept and I hope you had fun making it.
The game is in a really good place, you could definitely add more girls but honestly I think this is probably the best time to look into adding to the gameplay with like bonuses/score multipliers or adding difficulty modifiers, things that can make a stage feel more unique.
Though equally adding additional dialogue to the characters would also be fun, establishing their personality more definitely adds to engagement.
But ultimately it’s whatever you want it to be, I just hope you have fun doing it. That’s the most important part.
