RPGmaker is a propietary software. That you pay. To use. Fallboy also made shit in their own time, they’re free to do whatever they want. And it is purely by their grace the project thus far has been literally free. This is unprecedented level of entitlement that always plague fetish shit and make a lot of creators burn out. So many are free but nooooo that’s still not enough, let alone the mere mention of the developer wanting the game to be a paid game when it finally released.
With stuff made in kickstarter I maybe understand, people DO pay to have features that they want, but it isn’t the case with this. Yet you say it like “japanese people being against piracy” is a bad thing. This isn’t megacorps we’re talking about. People actively fraud/lessen the value of the livelihood of others and then get surprised when the latter becomes pissed.

Apologies if you’ve already attempted this, as I played the English version by Snail. You could try the Japanese characters on the right, and see if that makes it work.

I just tried it on the original Japanese version (5.0), and アブラマシマシ worked for me.
I can think of a few things a non-Japanese speaker might stumble over:
- You need to hit the カナ button in the lower right corner first to switch to the correct character set (katakana).
- Make sure you’re not accidentally choosing the small versions of any characters (ァ in this case). Use the full-size ア in the upper left corner.
- The second character, ブ, has a couple lookalikes, フ and プ. The one you want is roughly in the center of the right-side table.
- The “shi” character, シ, also has a couple lookalikes. The correct one, シ, has horizontal-ish lines. Don’t confuse it with ツ (vertical-ish lines) or ジ (same character with two added tick marks).

I just came to see if there was a different ending here in the original version and I ended up learning Japanese things. I learned better here than at university.

If Fallboy really wanted to make this a paid game all along, why didn’t he put the older versions behind a paywall? Heck, he could’ve just opened a Fanbox profile immediately. What I mean is, if he really decides to go down this route then the chances of having new versions of the game in English will be extremely slim. I don’t see him as the kind of guy who would say “hmm yes, I’ll let you mod my game and share your own take on it for free”
