Pretty good game! The part with the talking rats was hilarious.
This game was awesome. I just wish I knew about making sure I got 100% on the mini games before I started the game to unlock a secret ending. The games are easy, but on a laptop trek pad they caught me off guard at times. Thank you!
Iām glad you enjoyed it!! Luckily itās a fast playthrough for the second time.
Judging is still ongoing, so if you played this game and liked it, please take the time to click the <3 underneath the first post!
This game is not one of the finalists, but Iād be thrilled if I had a chance for Community Choice or another award!
Youāve stole the show once again, definitely my favourite game from this year. A captivating story, with romance, heavy themes (heh) and dirty secrets, multiple minigames that are all mechanically unique, and itās fully voice acted?? Simply brilliant.
I wish we could have seen April in the secret ending, but I think that really would be having my cake and eating it . I could go on a deep dive and point out a few voice lines that fell a bit flat, but this was done in 2 weeks, and on top of everything else present, so fuck that. For me, this is easily the best in class. Amazing work.
I was shocked that this didnāt make the finalists!
Thank you!! Iām so glad you enjoyed it!
Me too. One could say it was anā¦ Unexpected Outcome.
The judges decisions are theirs though, I respect them and look forward to their feedback.
Iām all the way done with development and have moved on from this project. Patrons gave the final version a good test and itās available for everyone on the Itch page at the same links above (or here: https://anonymooseproductions.itch.io/fifty-shades-of-orange).
This game was so fun to make, and so I really hope everyone who tried the original can try this and enjoy it too!
The biggest changes are bugfixes, a few added minigames (including the one where you get to stuff Tina), and the secret ending / harem ending that happens if you donāt lose a single minigame. Donāt feel bad about using quick save / quick load for that!
that twist was wild and i didnt expect it at ALL
IKR, I think I nailed the theme.
The amount of voiceover work in this game is really next level, I donāt see any renpy games using voice and it actually makes me think the auto feature might be useful. I could clean dust or something and hear the voice work and follow the narrative. In all the non-voiced renpy games auto doesnāt really make any sense (just skip me or let me read normally!)
JUDGESā VERDICTS:
An absolute tour de force of a VN! Anonymoose continues to impress with each Jam entry and this one is no exception with an entire feature-length voice-acted(!) script that had the coherency and pacing of a movie script! An absolute sterling effort from the dev that nailed the theme many many times over - I lost track how twisty the story became! If this doesnāt make for a finalist or for Best Writing then something has gone seriously awry here.
.
Even looking past the Herculean effort with the story, the smooth incorporating of the minigames, the extra endings and the clever way of handling the solitary confinement segment of the story, meant this was a solid experience as a game as well as an interactive story.
enjoyable visual novel that incorperates minigames and audio
Hi Alex! Thanks so much for sharing the judgesā feedback.
This one hurt Something has gone awry. I know Fifty Shades was good and didnāt even make a finalist entry. This is more compounded given the judgesā comments didnāt include anything I could improve on to have a victory next time.
Iām trying to figure out if I should try again next year and if I should, what I should do differently. From a Game Jam perspective, is the VN format not a good entry candidate? Any feedback to help next year is helpful.
I was shocked this was not in the top. I really loved this game. I would have thought this was a project that took months; the fact this was done for a Jam, it was top notch for sure!
I didnāt look into too closely how things were judged. I know some other jams have the folks who submit entries play and vote on other submissions. That helps to negate any biases from a smaller pool of judges.
Thank you! Iām so glad you liked it. I took off work to try to win and poured so much time into it. Iām happy that effort came through from your perspective.
I havenāt looked closely into the judging either. I donāt want to, it only hurts not even being a finalist that much more.
Thatās ok though - I still had fun making this game. Posts like yours remind me that thereās more than just winning! Iām still proud of what I made, itās a hilarious trip.
