Hello! I am just starting up my first project within this community.

Feel free to check out and make any suggestions for a future game.

I gave it a go and it’s a pretty neat little game

I concur on the neat little game. The art is pretty good, the pacing isn’t bad, and it actually tells you the end weight. Short and sweet.
I will say that I found a weird bug that might be just on how itch’s web player works. If you switch tabs for a little bit and then pull open the game again, it loads a ton of food all at once.

Size tops out after 10,000 points. Good game, though.

Thank you! You think she could get bigger than that? I just anatomically did not know how to draw past that without her head disappearing.

Thank you! I think I’m going to move my efforts to a text-based visual novel game next or something with more content. It just takes a long time to actually draw everything.
Do you think that a slower-pacing game would be more satisfying?

Well, I mean, there are some pretty extreme sizes out there. Type in “blob” on rule34, DA or FA, and you’ll see some truly enormous piles of flesh. Strictly following anatomy, though, I think this is about it. Rationally speaking, past a certain size, the body will mainly expand outwards and not upward, due to the size of the skeleton. It depends on whether or not you want to do unrealistic proportions as the body reaches beyond what is humanly possible.

For text based visual novels the pacing in terms of art needs to be decently slow, depending on the storyline obviously. For this kind of game the pacing was decent because while it did slow down a bit in the middle the amount of effort expended by the player didn’t cross the line into tedium. It’s a hard line with how small this game is but as an example if the stages took even just one more minute per, then it would have ruined it.

For novels this is different because the content is not purely art. The writing and scenes can carry so the time and effort on the players end between unique art pieces can be much greater. (This is also true for other games genre but VN was the medium being hypothesized so I am staying there.) There is no hard and fast 1 art piece for x amount of time played, especially if the game has any sim features that put the pacing in the players hands even a little bit. That said, if you made a linear VN of about 2 hours in length then I would be satisficed personally with about 3 pieces of art. One at the beginning to gauge character size, one in the middle for progression and one at the end. Obviously I am only speaking for myself and more art is always apricated, but that would be a nice frame work for a decent story to art ratio that feasible.

Now if we art talking gain per minute, that completely depends on the story. If its a grounded, realistic story then most fans want a slow burn because the realism is the draw. On the other hand fantasy/sci-fi can do whatever. Character triples weight in a single interaction and the rest of the story is them dealing with that is a semi-classic troupe for that kind of wg story.

So much to say you need to drill down and focus on which part is going to be the focus of the game before decided a pace. If the actual weight gain is the focus then that probably means a slow start and a semi consistent pace after the ramp up. If the focus is the limitations and life as an overweight person then the gain needs to slow down in the middle to accommodate scenes that showcase it. If it just a quick fantasy of the transformation then you can do a steady build up to the cause then the pivotal scene before a slow aftermath.
(Wow that was a long side tangent where I didn’t answer the question.)

Yes, I enjoy slower paced games and find them more satisfying. There are many that do, but if you want more data I would suggest doing a poll before doing a longer project. Anyway, thanks again for the game and have a nice day.
