The game is currently in early access and available for the Elite tier of my Patreon.
A fantasy weight gain visual novel where you arrive in a peaceful and magical country town and get to know (and feed) six beautiful elves and live relaxing fantasy stories. Will they be able to resist the temptation of delicious human food enhanced by magic?
Well, first of all, welcome to this new project! I imagine most of you played my main game Fattening Office (which will continue to be a priority). As you can read from the features above and see from the quality in the screenshots, with this new game we’re finally arrived in 2005…
If you want to try it, the current demo is quite short but it already contains one-in game day (basically one “story loop”) with a demonstration of almost all the planned features (and 1 CG), so I think it gives you a pretty clear image of what the game will be.
The quality of sprites and CGs should be improved. The UI is still not so good but I hope it’s enough to play without too many problems. I tried to differentiate the characters a bit from my previous works and the fetish aspects too will be handled in a slightly different way (most is still to define). So for now it’s just a base on which I will (slowly) expand.
I will try to update once per month so the next version will most likely come out in July. In the meantime I’m very curious to know your opinions. Even though it may not seem, putting this demo together took a lot of hours . The continuation of the project itself depends a lot on the interest and support you show. I’m very open to criticism of my own game, but I want to understand if there’s an interest for this type of game that would allow me to realistically continue the development.
If you have specific requests about body shapes and other things you’d like to see added, let me know. I can’t promise anything but I’ll consider it.
I love the CGs for these girls. It really does look like you’ve taken and applied your experience from Fattening Office to this new game. Hopefully we can see some weight stages in the next update
Thank you for trying it and leaving me a feedback!
I’m glad you’ve tried the demo Wert! I can tell you the very next update will contain 1-2 in-game days with no time-skip, so there won’t be new stages. That’s because technically Veronica and Elize are at stage 2 already and will get a dedicated CG. I’m currently working on Fattening Office 1.6.6 (that’s still my main focus) so it could take some time.
Why not? Because they don’t procreate that way in the elf canon? I won’t really care about that here, sorry, the fact they’re elves doesn’t really have any impact apart from the ears and maybe some other little things.
Thanks for the question though, I should specify the game as you’ve seen from the intro, is set on another planet (with two moons). While the context is vaguely fantasy it won’t have elements like magic, other creatures and such and it will mostly be the same as the modern world, but there will be a couple of surprises about the “world building”. Even though it’s not going to be central, there’s been at least some thought put into it.
I confirm that the next update of Voluptuous Elves will come out in July (or early August at worst) and I can already tell you that I will completely rewrite the first day and touch up some things. At the moment I’m focused on the final arc of Fattening Office but when that’s done I will work more on this game.
About the changes to the current version, I did a similar thing with Fattening Office at the beginning too, I hope it’s not a huge problem (the biggest problem will be for my wallet because I’ll be buying new assets ). Anyway, if you liked the characters don’t worry because they will mostly look identical. I’m just going to rework the world and tone of the story since I realized it would have been too similar to Fattening Office. I’m switching to a more exotic fantasy world and general “soul healing” mood, if that makes any sense.
I thought I’d gather some feedback in the meantime.
Weight stages
start at stage 1 (very thin)
start at stage 2 (slightly chubby, like in the current demo)
I announced in my last Patreon post that the next Voluptuous Elves version will be released in the first half of August. I apologize for the delay!
I can also anticipate that the changes are going to have a much greater impact. In fact I decided to change how I’m going to develop this weight gain fantasy concept almost entirely.
There are various reasons for this but I don’t want to bore you so what you can expect is:
classic VN at its core
slice of life, romance, high fantasy (with magic)
more anthological routes with a common narrative context
a wide cast of elves
dating sim mechanics (minigames, more choices)
Now, the dating sim aspect is going to be light and the game will ultimately have a lighthearted and comforting mood with romance options in a high-fantasy setting. The main minigame is likely going to be a match-3 (which I’ve already implemented).
I hope this doesn’t disappoint anyone and I know many people subscribed on Patreon with a different presentation of the game. I’m really sorry for that and I understand if many people are skeptical that I’ll be able to develop a second game alongside Fattening Office.
I’d ask you to be patient at least until early August!
Oh, and I saw the poll so I can confirm all elves will start at stage 1
So, the new build is likely coming out in a week. I don’t want to spoil much about the narrative context that I completely rewrote, but to start giving a clearer idea of what the game will actually be like, I can say the cooking minigame (refining of the dishes by manipulating the magical essences of the ingredients) is done, as well as all the other basic dating sim mechanichs like day loop, stats, calory system etc.
I hope this makes you a little curious, I’m really stepping out of my comfort zone to create this and the next build will likely only have the core aspects!
(Mobile version will be released in the coming days)
It’s probably my least polished release, but here the temperature is damn hot and this time the gameplay aspects are a little more complicated
As you have seen, I renamed the thread (and the game). I hope this is not a problem for the forum mods.
This is the first time I add that many gameplay elements, so I’m sure there will be a lot of issues. Please report anything that seems wrong, I know it’s still a very early build!
(I just realized I didn’t enable the eye blink in the release build )
Alright, so I hope this new version of the game wasn’t terrible. It took me about two weeks to set that up and I’m pretty happy with the result, but there’s still some work to do. Consider it as a base to build upon in the coming year.
I don’t know if you prefer this dating sim like version or the old more linear story but I eventually chose this structure because it will (hopefully) allow me to add content more easily. The most important thing will still be the elves’ routes, they will be pretty separated from each other so you can technically follow most of them at the same time and in any order. While the outer daily loop structure will serve to give a better sense of weight progression over time and to show some mixed interactions.
I know this version didn’t really show it, but the core systems are already implemented. Based on their addiction stat the elves will show up at the restaurant each day at noon and order dishes depending on their stage. They will show up one after another and the pre-meal and post-meal chats will vary, so not always the same “Thank you! It’s delicious!” that’s in the current version. I will make great use of random phrases extracted from a pool to keep each interaction a bit different for each elf. The same goes for the MC dialogues, so he won’t always say “It’s a brand new day” in the morning and things like that. Increasing the love stat will instead make you unlock individual events for that specific elf. Each stage will have an event with a CG. The friendship stat is still to define, but it will most likely unlock optional dialogue choices.
I don’t know how many of you reached Veronica stage 2 (you have to do the minigame for like 4-5 days with the calorie boost). I know it’s a bit jarring that she changes stage all of a sudden after passing the threshold, so in the next version she will change sprite the day after to make it a bit more believable. Adding more stages would probably help with that, so I could add a stage between 1 and 2. Did you find her stage 2 too big? In general the weight system is already done but I need to define the numbers so that it’s fun but not too unrealistic. In any case elves will have things like different metabolism and other magical stuff so there will be narrative explanations for their relatively rapid gain too. The world lore will also be expanded more, I’ll try to give it a bit more personality than it currently has.
Oh, and the elves will be 9 (as you can see from the codex), each with many stages (still need to define the exact number but here we could get to 10-12 and immobility sizes too).
Some other core features that need to be implemented are:
the possibility to change the restaurant menu for the day
dish categories and dish preferences
a exp system to unlock new dishes
a city map to decide what to do during the morning phase
Obviously my main game Fattening Office will take priority over Gluttonous Elves, but I’ll try to update this as fast as possible. Right now I’m working on the mobile version that needs some UI changes, then I’ll take a couple of days off
I believe this game has some potential, but it’ll take time and I want to thank everyone who decided to support the game already.
That said, I will surely tweak and change the tutorial messages in the prologue to explain things better. I’m new to this type of game and I’m very open to feedback and suggestions!
Did someone try the mobile version? I hope that’s decent enough, but I know the UI isn’t that good. Please leave me a feedback
Anyway there already are a couple of errors and typos I noticed (the name tag for the old master is wrong and other things), but I hope the current game gave you an idea of the concept!
Right now I’m working on the next Fattening Office update, but after that I will come back to Gluttonous Elves right away and implement all the missing core systems as I mentioned
I think I’ll also change the tutorial scene with the old master and the MC personality a bit. Then I’ll add two more elves and I’ll try to make the first week fully playable (with more interactions besides the cooking etc.)
I can’t say that enough, please leave a comment or a review with your impressions and requests, that’s really important in this phase!
Quite honestly, i have no comments or changes i would make currently. I think the match 3 plays well enough to be a nice tactile piece in the game without being overwhelming to get the girl to gain weight. I’m unsure what direction is planned for the other 2 “enhancements” but the calorie enhancement feels like it does plenty to keep the pace of gain reasonable. Maybe in the future with more girls it might feel slower, but right now it feels fine. If the intent is to be able to have each girl gain individually without having to fatten them all at once, then the pace i think will continue to be appropriate. In terms of the size increase of the weight stage I again think the benchmark of the first girl is about right for what i’d hope for.
In a similar vein, i don’t know how others would feel. But i think you would get a lot more mileage in terms of engagement if each update were to always either add a girl, or add a weight stage to an existing girl. (Assuming that’s possible with the new game format) I know the format of Fattening Office makes it impossible for every update to add weight stages, but it seems like it would be simpler in this game to do so.
I think I released this version too soon but the next update should clarify how the game will actually play out.
Yeah in this demo the other two refinements aren’t really useful. In theory they should be working already though. The affective one increases the love stat while the bond one increases frienship (both increase calories too).
Overall it’s going to be a pretty simple system with a few options. As you said the goal would be to add girls and stages more frequently, since their stories will be separated too with only optional mixed interactions.
Keep in mind the calories are currently boosted, the actual numbers need to be adjusted!
The new version should come out in a week. I’ve implemented all the core systems:
town map with six different locations and day-night variations
merchant to obtain gifts that you can give to the elves
customizable restaurant menu
dish progression
It’s all really simple, I even get rid of most of the stats like addiction and the love and bond refinements. Now there are only a stage bar (increased by calories) and an event bar. The elves just visit the restaurant depending on their stage, and giving them gifts and feeding their favorite foods makes you unlock events.
To give you a better scale, the elves will be 6 but the number of stages is still to define, food categories are 8 each with 10 dishes, each girl has like 3-4 preferred gifts.
It’s been a week since I went back to working on the game so it’s taking a while, I had to make some relatively intricate UI menus (at least for my level of competence). Anyway as I said I should complete the next version in a week. It will probably have one new girl (Irina) and two stages for both her and Veronica. This next build will be really important to test the real game loop!
Thanks for the patience, I invite you to read the changelog in the Patreon post.
This is definitely the most complex game I have made so far with my limited experience so there will be a lot of problems. Please report any bugs or issues
I know many things are still rough and unrefined but it wasn’t easy to put it together and I’m available to release hotfixes and patches to fix the problems in the next days. I premise this because you don’t image how many times I have changed things and testing alone can be hard after some time.
It’s still meant to be a side project, all the core systems should already be implemented in this version and the new updates will continue the individual stories and add the missing elves!
Another couple of tips other than what I wrote on Patreon:
on day 6 and 7 of each week a sea merchant should appear on the map, go there to get rare gifts that add more friendship points
the elves gain weight during the night of the day they fill their stage bar
in the Miscellaneous category there are basic dishes for all the weathers (sun, rain, wind, snow)
the locations other than Library, Flower shop and Town office are empty right now
I hope this update generates some discussions, mostly so I can understand what you would like to see in a game like this. Feel free to criticize!
I’m mostly interested in feedback about the pace of the progression, the minigame, if it’s too tedious, if the elves gain weight too quickly/slow. The current bar thresholds are completely temporary and they will most likely be different in the final game when other events will happen during the in-game days.
I played the newest update. Here are my thoughts on the game so far.
Sprites - Irina, Lucrezia, and Veronica’s sprites are really cute. What Lucrezia is wearing, to me, matches her personality being regal like with all the jewelry accessories, and her position in power. Veronica being a free spirit, what she is wearing makes sense to me. For Irina, while I’m not complaining about what she is wearing , she seems to be more of the insecure type, so I imagine her wearing clothes that cover more of her body like a dress.
Main Storyline - I actually have not seen many WG/Stuffing VNs, where the main plot was about the MC being a cook, so its refreshing to me at least playing this VN with that storyline. There is a part right away at the beginning of the storyline that I didn’t like. The MC right off the bat acknowledging or even know they have the WG fetish. The intro scene is the MC telling the reader what their dream is by opening a restaurant and improving their cooking skills, but a couple of scene transitions later where the MC and Veronica first meet, the fetish admission is dropped in the MC’s monologue. I would rather see at least in the beginning of the story, the MC’s mindset is focusing on making amazing dishes and seeing how happy get eating their food. Then overtime, when the girls start gaining weight, they start to have those fetish thoughts.
Backgrounds - Since there is a weather system in the VN, it would be nice to see the backgrounds change depending on the weather type. Having snow fall while the background illustrates a sunny day is a little too silly looking.
Character Development - The story events so far for each character, I enjoyed. I prefer learning more about characters through natural story progression, so the “Chat” box that had fixed talking points in it, I had mixed feelings about.
Cooking Mini-Game - To be honest, I don’t like it. I found it boring and repetitive which it makes it worse when there is a grind with it to make the girls progress to the next WG stage. The normal preparation phase of the mini-game seems pointless since the outcome is always the same hence there is no sense of being rewarded if you play the game well unlike in the magic refinement phase, so I think it should be removed. I like the concept of the magic refinement phase with the letter grading system and bonus system for preparing certain types of food depending on what the weather is. The main problem with it goes back to the grind. For me, after playing so many games, I got bored enough to the point I stopped caring about getting a high score or picking weather specific dishes. I was just trying to spam my way through it to progress things.
Regarding the dishes, for me at least, 90% of them are the ones with the sunny day bonus. I think either changing some of the sunny dishes to other weather types or add more non-sunny dishes would be ideal. I would also recommend changing the Dishes UI to have a weather category. It was kind of tedious to click through the food types to then find what bonus it had. So something like: Dishes > Weather Type > Categories > Food Types. Otherwise if you don’t want to make any UI changes, have it so all food category types have a dish for each weather condition.
Mini-Game Change Suggestions - Maybe instead of the girls knowing what they want to order, they describe what flavors (salty, sweet, spicy, etc.) they are craving at the moment and the player picks the dish that best matches the craving profile. This would bring more life to the initial mini-game dialogue from the girls. The current lines like “I order Croissant” or “I take Chocolate muffin” are kind of boring. From what I’ve seen so far after the dish is made, there are two types of reactions from the girls if it is S grade or lower basically saying either its “very good” or “good”. Maybe add dialogue where the girls are describing the tastes of the dishes. As an upcoming cook, they most likely would be looking for more feedback than it was good. As another incentive for the player to try and get a S rank dish is that the girls will overeat and become stuffed, so then their sprite changes to the stuffed varient. It also might make sense to add a money currency system, which how much you make is dependent on how good the food score is. My reasons for it I talk about below in the Merchant/Gift section.
Merchant/Gift System - While it fits with the theme for the story in having to barter food as a form of currency, I’d rather just use money as an alternative form for gift payment. In regards to the gift system, the concept that a new CG event will be unlocked once the relationship meter is filled by giving the girls gifts, I do like it, but having to give say Irina 20 regular books, 10 rare books, a couple of broken tablets is repetitive and boring, and also the fact the dialogue is always the same. Instead of that, maybe unique, but expensive gifts that you need enough money to buy that have some personal value to the person it’s given to. So while the player is trying to unlock the new event CG, they are still getting new story content by giving the girls unique meaningful gifts.
I will add that the 35 friendship to get the cg actually ends up being kinda tight - I technically maxed out the next weight bar before I got there on the third character.
Would like it to overflow to the next one, maybe? All the friendship gained in stage 1 is wasted because you can’t start filling the bar until they’re in the next stage as well.
I think it’ll feel less grindy once there are higher calorie recipes but it is a tad slow as it is now - maybe let the skip button give them the baseline amount of calories for what they ordered? Or half? I do agree that the first phase does feel like kind of redundant. Maybe have performance on phase 1 fill up the bar and turn phase 2 into a multiplier of sorts?
Thank you James for another long review! I’ll try to answer all of your points. Let me start by saying I agree with almost everything, they’re more or less the same concerns I had myself and the main reason for them is that this is intended to be a side project and different from Fattening Office. The main point of Gluttonous Elves should be to show six “classic” WG stories set in a fantasy world. The gameplay parts should be secondary and serve mainly to make the time pass without making me write the slice of life scenes which would have been too long while I’m still developing Fattening Office. You probably remember why I had to start working on a second game around June, to slightly increase the Elite tier subs by offering a decent reward. So it’s intended that the MC and the story is more generic and less explored, while this structure should allow me to “easily” add new stages every time and focus on the stories and CGs which should be the game’s core feature. Aside from that, I will try to improve what I can of the gameplay aspects, but they will likely remain very similar to what they are now. My goal is to make sure the actual gameplay loop at least work and not be too tedious. (With my limited development experience, putting this together is already a lot so I’m glad it seems to work )
I’m glad you liked their designs, you’re kind of right about Irina but I couldn’t cover her up too much (to show a good progression in the codex) and in general I wanted to give the impression of a less sexualized society. Other elves will have similar clothes too.
Yeah I could move some lines about the fetish in the first monologue before the city. Unlike in Fattening Office here I wanted to have a MC that is into the fetish from the start so I will keep that aspect. As I said above, it’s meant to be less explored and more generic.
Noo my amazing particle system You’re right, of course. The problem was that I couldn’t get snow variants for every backgrounds, so the particles are a way to uniform them. All the background in this version are human-made assets so I had to make some compromises.
Yes the chat will be a very side thing, I will mostly use it to insert some info about the world (not that you should particularly care).
I see, well, it’s a very basic match-3. You’re absolutely spot on about the first phase and I wanted to cut it but I thought it made more sense from a story point of view because the MC has to first cook and then refine the dishes with magic, so I thought it was nice to have the match-3 match the real dynamic. But you’re right, it’s a bit pointless even though I don’t think I will remove it at this point.
Each category has 10 dishes, most of them can’t be unlocked in this version but each category will definitely have dishes for each weather (more advanced dishes will have higher weather bonuses too).
Each girl should have a different line for each grade, but yes, I know it’s repetitive. I could make them say a random phrase from a pool for each dish, but I don’t think reading their actual opinions on the flavor every time would be very interesting either. All comes down to the fact this part is thought to be a bit tedious and grindy by nature, and it just serves to unlock the events by giving some more context.
I thought about using some kind of currency but I didn’t want to make things too complex. The numbers are absolutely temporary and I will make it a bit less grindy!
Thank you again for the comment, as I said I’m already happy if it’s working properly since it took a lot of hours to set up the structure and it’s not TOO bad and repetitive. I hope the CGs and the stories will make up for the mediocre gameplay
