This is really cool! It has me wondering though, the biggest issue these sorts of games face (especially with animations) is avoiding clipping when they gain. You seem like you have experience, so I was wondering if you had any plans on how to get the physics and collisions right at the higher weight stages.
Ya absolutely. So clipping is something you have naturally. What i decided to do was use it to my advantage.
Clothes ripping, buttons popping will be part of the random gameplay aspect (theyre own little cutscenes)
But these types of models take time to develop. The idea is you create the 1st model, and the last model (lets say 100-600lbs)
Most people leave it to the sliders, which is an absolute no go because you need to fine tune them like any other animation to make them work. So you have âkey weightsâ probably noticable by 50s (100-150-200-250- etc) and lock the model into that zone. That way the 50lb gain looks natural, and if more tweeking needs to be done, its not a big issue.
Now clothes are the issue here. Yes the mesh stretches, buuuut in real life they really dont stretch. Lets take Autumn for example (her shorts are probably the first to go, so at 140, the pant material can only stretch so far before it becomes weird looking. So there will be a couple access points when gaining. (The button) and a rip from the behind in her case)
If you havnt bought her new clothes, or have convinced her to keep them, her muffintop will at 141 pop that button off. And because shes outgoing she might wind up wearing them even if they dont fit. Which case in point the tear, is the last go. Now she hits a cutscene and will automatically take you to the clothing store where sheâll buy her own set of bigger girl shorts (made to fit sizes 141-whatever) for her model.
Each character gains a little different, and they have their own style of wear, some items the same and some unique to that character.
So youâll only see the same outfit on them as long as they fit it.
And higher weight stages call for different animations. They will be the same type of animations, but catered for a bigger size. Autumn may not be able to check her toned tummy anymore and May wind up grabbing a roll of fat and jiggling instead

this release is for FatCats only Itâs to get a good feel for the âstyle of gameâ test map stability, and sound quality, as well as packaging issues.
Once this is all reviewed and set in stone; it will be a breeze to continue and âslash downâ the instancing. That way the game runs a hell of a lot smoother, and loads almost instantly.
