Hey all, I’ve been a lurker on this site for quite a while now and thought now would be a good time to throw my hat in the ring. I’ve been browsing through the site enshitification post and have to agree I’ve seen far too many AI projects in the past year or maybe two. I know what this site used to look and feel like and it’s definitely not the same. But I’d like to try and mend this and hopefully be an example to anyone who’s ever thought about making a game for this community.
I want to see this community thrive with original works. I want to see more collaboration between members who are looking to hone their specific game development skills (art, writing, programming, etc). I want to feel like I’m not being smothered by low effort cash grabs and to see overwhelming passion put into every game that’s made. I’m a complete and total optimist, but again I know what this site used to be.
I’ve just started working on a visual novel that’s going to be bare bones for probably a while, but it will be made without AI writing or images and with as much effort and soul as I can pour into it. I know moral is down right now for a lot of people and I probably sound full of shit, but I genuinely believe things can change for the better and hope this post is a sign of that.
