Where would a girl who mostly gets a fat belly moreso than hips/bust go do I need a fifth type?
I had sworn breasts=strawberry and maybe belly=apple but this chart I googled up doesn’t seem to agree? hmm TLDR which fruit is breasts and which fruit is belly (if hips are pears.)
Sidenote I’m still deciding, will bodytype determine bodypart sizes or will bodypart sizes determine bodytype. I just wrote the code to determine and display bodytype on the fly based on bodypart sizes but then I also wrote code such that bodypart sizes are defined by bodytypes
Honestly I don’t think this looks bad! It looks like journaling, really. This picture on the right side feels a little small for the area it is taking up, but otherwise this looks pretty good!
I’m gonna try topheavy for strawberry because strawberry seems to be the consensus correct fruit, but 90% of the time it’s not on the list, so it might confuse people?
Extremely minor tweaking, still mostly writing code/sentences. Rather than art-ing.
Still placeholders, haven’t processed the render, just took a screenshot of the scene preview. The default menu would’ve covered the portion of the screen I planned to put her face on I’m fairly happy with this as a concept so far though.
Hair and phone subject to change, haven’t decided on a background, once I do I’ll render it and the clumsy screenshot of the scene of her on the phone will integrate into said background seamlessly
Thanks, but I’m not quite that far along. ATM I’m sure there are lots of typos and spelling or grammar errors in the text. After I actually release something I am hopeful people will submit fixes for any such typos.
Do girl’s need jobs? For example in weighting game… alice was pretty awesome before she got a job, and equally awesome afterwards. I’m not sure how much backstory femalenpc’s you can date need. BUT if they do have jobs, what jobs should they have?
This is just a generic scene and generic female, if I actually like the idea, I’ll revisit it and customize things.
Other job’s I’m considering would be waitress, staff at the gym, staff at your office, fast food cashier. Although, I think I like how weighting game doesn’t actually give your job… any jobiness. You never really learn anything about what the MC and becca do. Whereas say thickertreat goes into what might actually happen at work a lot more. I don’t think I actually like work though. In a dating sim, I’m not sure the player would care. Those sorts of details I often just rush through while playing myself. Hmm.
Personally, it depends if you plan to integrate something around the jobs. Work sites provide good opportunities for fetish content and daily interactions. Getting fat at work and how that impacts customer or co-worker interactions, or how it impacts your ability to perform your job, can be a very good source fetish content. That said, it definitely isn’t necessary! Plenty of other areas provide similar types of areas for interactions. If you don’t have any particular ideas for work right now, you can always add them in later.
So, I do not think my failed lo cal jam project will ever see the light of day. I am not having any luck turning it into a tutorial on making a renpy weight gain vn. Mostly due to lack of interested guinea pigs who are less experienced than me, but still interested in learning, and therefore would fit the goal.
So here’s some content from august2023.
and uh this video file is only 400kilobytes but I can’t post it to the forum… oh well Gofile - Your all-in-one storage solution Edit: (note this is a video clip which showcases a ren’py transition effect which is nice for making clothing vanish imo.)
I will likely roll this female’s design into my longer term project.
Why did I make the above post? Well I’m trying to adjust the time saving sprite concept from the failed lo-cal jam to get my longer term project back on track.
In other words the only hope of getting back on track is to save time by using sprites. Which no one likes. But I think maybe I can do them well enough. Plus I also just need to get to the point where I can show gameplay. I can always add more fully rendered scenes to a game. The sprites will always I think be useful in generic events anyways.
Detailed notes I guess mostly for me. The face image is for side head images in renpy and I am utilizing the same cameras and lighting as I was months prior. The full body sprites. Something the original game-plan was not necessarily going to use at all… these instead use the lighting from the failed lo-cal jam project.
That’s why the skintones don’t fully match. But I have a whole bunch of poses and lighting and camera setups from the lo-cal jam I might as well re-use. If I want to fine tune them later I can. I messed with the lights and white tones between pink/peach/white a lot to get the pale girl’s pale irish girl skin to pop. Then lazily throwing a tan girl into that lighting setup well… I actually like how her skin tone comes out, but it doesn’t at all match the scene setup I am/was using for side images.
I know people hated the talking head. Well I’m not doing that anymore. It’s just a static image, that I plan to give a few key emotions.
The problem I am noticing here though is the skintones are not matching here. I could actually use feedback on this. Should a girl have her own unique lighting profile? Or should a situation? Right now situations have their own unique lighting profiles, and I plan to use that lighting profile on multiple girls. That results in this screenshot though where her skintone full body doesn’t match her skintone close up.
Why did I want to give situations their own lighting profiles instead of girls? Well the side head images, I wanted them to line up well. So that in a conversation or scene with multiple femaleNPCs their eyes and mouths would always be in roughly the same spot.
TLDR: In the screenshot how bad is it that her skintone doesn’t match? Is it important for a girl’s skintone to remain identical? Or is it okay for her skintone to change slightly when the situation’s lighting set up changes? I guess I’m confused as to how to make sprites. The reason the lighting is changing, is because I was going to do full scene renders, which of course, have their own unique lighting set ups each time. I just ended up deleting the entire scene to make these sprites… if any of what I just said makes sense.
One thing the failed lo-cal jam project taught me was that… Sprites don’t just save time for the renders. They can also do interesting effects! Like those weight gain gifs up above. Or that gofile link of the 400kilobyte video which shows how renpy can use two sprites to make clothing vanish. Repeated here for convenience Gofile - Your all-in-one storage solution
Speaking of which where should I post 400kilobyte mp4 files so that I can embed them on this forum? Tiny video files are a lot more filesize efficient than gifs.
So now I’m got it in my mind that there are various effects that only sprites can perform. This is something I haven’t seen other games on weightgaming do before. I suppose I could use some ideas on how to make sprites interesting. If anyone has seen them in other VNs? I have already experimented a good bit with all the renpy transitional and positional effects and such. But I only included my favorites in this thread. There’s like a dozen others that are just “meh” or “cringe”.
I am just curious as to what makes the sprites get them game back on track compared to full scene renders? Outside of time saved. Is there something you’re aiming for thats time sensitive? I totally get the time saved. And while I have no particular love for sprites I do get why people want to use them. So maybe it’s the right call.
The skin tone stuff would be odd especially if it’s changing scene to scene for girls. Would it bother me personally, yes but probably no more than sprites being used. I could live with both but obviously certain things can both add and subtract from the overall feeling of quality.
