i need a fatfur mmo erp game

due to the atlyss update my characters lost their homebrewry designs and nudity, its very unacceptable to pander to asexuals and radical christians.

can’t believe Kiseff literally killed sex with the latest Atlyss update, wild… :pensive:

someone should, like, stop those wacky asexuals or something. probably the christians too idk

Like i ain’t happy that all my dudes got put on sudden digital weight watchers but this is a little much.

I ain’t seen a single ace person complaining about the Atlyss models so maybe chill with that.

Never felt the need to make an account here before. I was mostly just lurking for the mods of normal games because… Idk, they make the games I play feel less sterile and annoying? It’s the equivalent of finally seeing a video game I really like, dubbed and localized in a language I actually speak. (complete with the fact that some-- Or most-- are more janky and weird than others.) There’s an aspect of a game like, say, Vanilla Baldur’s Gate, where I can kind of tell with my logical brain that suchandsuch a character is intended by the author to be idealized and pretty, but to everything beneath that, nobody actually reads that way. So if there’s any kind of romance or a character expresses interest, (which happens in BG more than most games) it feels kind of annoying because I don’t ā€œgetā€ it. Like the gateway for content to a DLC I don’t have, but it’s just in my silly brain.

And because of that, I think this thread touches exactly on the subject about Atlyss that’s bothering me. Because in a way, that’s me, I am the guy who literally would or wouldn’t buy the game over the sliders issue, because it’s why I cared in the first place. I know that’s a dumb thing! But it was an ostensibly ā€œnormalā€ action/mmo game where characters I found attractive simply existed, and I thought that was great! People literally do not make those! You’d think it was illegal, how little this happens in games (at least the ones I play) where you don’t literally have to hack it in.

I do not condone how toxic people got over whatever the hell changed, but I can see why it happened. The one person making it has no community moderation whatsoever and there’s clearly an audience who is very sensitive to the possibility this game presented. But the cooler heads have been so drowned out that I literally don’t know what happened, and as happens with internet drama, if you aren’t following it to a morbidly online degree, everything seems to happen in a flash while you aren’t there and then gets deleted.

Whenever I hear about the Atlyss models, though I’ve heard fragments of the story in disparate pieces, it’s bad news. Due to the nature of this drama and how online people are, all the information that’s left for me to observe by the time I see it seems way more concerned with (rightfully) telling people they’ve gone very nuts bothering this one guy over a small thing. I’ve never been able to find a straight answer on what the small thing was, and it seems to be enough of a sore subject for the dev themselves that I don’t even want to bother asking through the actual discussion channels for the game, (I also might not want these musings tied to my actual steam/reddit/itch mains either.) because hell, if I were him and everybody who was ever out of the loop kept bothering me, I might nuke the option out of spite! (To give you a frame of reference for how bad my info is, one of the loudest people I’ve heard talk about this implied that’s what happened, and I doubt that of course.)

So, like, can someone kindly give me a straight answer as to what exactly happened with Atlyss? Literally everything I’ve heard has been contradictory and described badly, and everyone seems to have a barely-explained narrative attached to why Kissef did it that also contradicts the others that I don’t know what to think. Did they just completely change their mind? Were the sliders breaking something? I don’t even know if the change was intended to be temporary or permanent. Half the people talking about it say that ā€œthe gif was fakeā€ (I have never seen the gif) and ā€œthe change isn’t even that muchā€. I don’t even know what the change was. It started out funny, but the way people still seem emotionally upset by it is starting to feel grim.

basically slightly smaller models and deletion of the setting that blocks you from seeing bigger sliders

What Chubby_lover04 linked and said, but to expand a little more -

The drama initially stemmed from a pretty drastic nerf to the sizes in the latest publicly accessible beta version of the game back in May. This nerf was left in for at least a few weeks, and there was no statement anywhere from the dev acknowledging it. The beta was opt-in and pretty obscure, so the nerfs didn’t become common knowledge until that gif (which was in fact a true demonstration of the nerfs, I had a chance to download the beta and see the changes for myself before it was taken down) was posted around social media.

Because the max sizes had been nerfed before (back in Alpha, before steam release), and the only recent official statement on the matter seemed to be flippantly dismissing the nerf with ā€˜you can still make fairly large characters,’ people got mad that the dev seemed to be taking the money from fat fetishists and running.

Officially, the dev says that the nerfs were an accident, a WIP while he made changes to the models. Most of the model changes were reverted after the drama. Notable exceptions - Chang and Byrdles can have larger breasts, while Kubolds and Imps got their bellies somewhat nerfed.

Of course, even with that drama past, there’s fresh problems with a long wait for a kinda disappointing patch. Personally I think a proper team would go a long way for both the game and Kisseff’s mental health. But as a solo project, it is still impressive he’s gotten as far with it as he has, even with the recent bumps

That’s actually quite encouraging to hear, relative to the way people talked about it. Thank you guys for your explanations!

To this whole thing, there is also just so much toxicity, that i am having a hard time holding out hope for the game.

I get annoyed that the models were tweaked, i am told i am lying, or that i just hate Kiseff ( who i don’t know at all, and have no opinion on them as a person )
{ Like i don’t have before and afters, but legit, all my characters look smaller so if it turns out the models and sliders weren’t changed SOMETHING was and it made them all look smaller }

I give criticism about my character being hamstrung with the playstyle changes, and all my powers, skillpoints and enchants are gone, leaving me to either grind them all out again, or start over and i am eaven missing my starting racial skills ETC… I am told i am lying, and that i just hate Kiseff.

There are a lot of calls for constructive criticism and then I can literally give constructive feedback and then i am told i am lying, and just hate Kiseff.

The upset is more than the Slider changes, but you talk about the class reworks OR the model changes, you are just deemed a hater.

The things that i like about the last version were all stripped out, and I could have totally lived with all my little animal dudes being thinner than i originally made them if the game was still fun, but it isn’t what i fell in love with.
I am explicitly most annoyed at the gameplay changes to classes, and i can make that abundantly clear, but then i am always hit with ā€œYou are lying and just hate Kiseff.ā€

Then there is the flipside, and the people who DO hate Kiseff for whatever reason, and they are just as annoying, even though they don’t really talk to me much.

I thought about joining the discord and trying to give actual feedback, the kind requested, but it will likely turn into " you are lying and just hate Kiseff" nonsense, so the game is likely a lost cause, cause all actual feedback is drowned out by the overzealous defenders and the people who want to disintigrate the Dev’s cat or whatever.

What’s really heartbreaking is that this game filled a niche I’ve been DESPERATE to see filled, and like so many other things I love, it’s falling apart and failing. I hope he does find people who can help him make the game something special, but I have a feeling this game is just gonna be shitcanned the way feedback’s been and his rising stress.

As for joining the discord? I don’t think the official one is open for comments. The unofficial one? Don’t bother. It’s just a bunch of bullies and doomerisys talking behind his back.

Idunno, I opened it and can’t tell a difference.

All my skill points are gone though and that’s a little annoying, but I’d probably just make a new character anyway.

Seems like this is way overblown.

Apparently they reset the sliders.
So now it functions close to what it used to.

Most of the mods have already been updated for the new version

If you’re missing your skills, you can use a respec book to get the points back

I’m lonely and want someone to join my fatfur server or I join some other fatfur server.

Hey, a little more to this, I uninstalled and then reinstalled when someone said they undid the skillset restrictions and… well i don’t think the updates were actually properly applying the first time.

My Chang was bigger than when uninstalling, but supposedly the size was not touched. He still looks smaller than he used to, but… well the aspect ratios in the option menu were expanded, and at some aspect ratios, fat characters can look slimmer than they really are.
STO had this issue.
A new issue was, my brownish tan character turned shadowy Vanta black. Quit out, verify file integrity, restart, he is back to normal.

Aside from limited Beta-drama from may, i wonder if some of these upsets were from the Steam patcher dropping the ball, because changes people were talking about before, didn’t hit me until way later.
No wonder some people accused me of lying, we were experiencing different builds of the game, but like… you never think that would happen, because the Steam patcher usually works, and when it malfunctions, it usually doesn’t like that.

My powers, enchants and skillpoints are all still gone, and i am out a ton of resources trying to fix them to no avail, but the model sizes might have indeed been a bug. ( I am still raw about the power reset with no means to fix it. )

Community is still toxic AF though, i try not to talk to them, because despite their accusations, i don’t hate Kissef, and i don’t want to hate them because a bunch of sycophants make me come to hate them.

as to the ā€œJust join another Fatfur serverā€ comment. Well there are tons of those. There is like one Fatfur action MMO-lite and it is this one. Finding something else aint that easy.

Oh wow this game has an adorable art style! I was thinking it would be fun to make an MMO lately, but I am married to a project already for which ideas must be explored, and it must be finished—I guess many game devs relate (^v-)

I tried Atlyss some time ago and have not seen any weight gain in that game. It was just an action/rpg with low polygonal character creator and some body sliders. Did I miss something?

No, you didn’t miss anything. Some people used the online component for ERP, and the Dev made some decisions, both gameplay and model wise that some people didn’t like. Newer models are much smaller and Dev may or may not have said some things. Community can be kinda toxic.

that is the gist of most of this.

To tack on: last I checked the dev said it was a mistake and not intentional.

But yes the only weightgain was in the form of a mod that raised the sliders as you got xp/raised stats.

Oh, so there was a mod like that. Now I understood why so many people here interested, thanks
